CHAPTER 59
She must be out.
Jasmine walked over slowly. Her hands covered her stomach and she held her head down like a child who just got disciplined.
'I'll like to talk to you outside in the car," I said as she got in front of me. I turned on my heel and walked out the apartment, glancing over my shoulder every second, making certain she was following me.
Jasmine's POV
He opened the car door on the passenger's side and I got in without saying a word.
I can't believe Zenia snitched on me!
I watched as he came around on the driver's side and slide into the seat. He started car and turned on the AC units.
He was looking straight ahead through the windshield while he fidgeted with his fingers.
'Are you pregnant?" he finally asked.
'Yes," I answered. My voice was like a whisper. I was scared and panicking of what he might say to me.
'Is there a possibility that someone else could be the father?" he asked again and I knew exactly what and who he was referring to.
'No," I answered truthfully. 'I've never been sexually involved with anyone apart from you," I added in quickly.
His eyes remained ahead.
'But I've been looking at other options that I could have," I said to digest the unfriendly tension between us.
'What other options?" he asked sharply, turning to me now and rocking fear to my core. His eyes had already gone into its eclipse.
'I've been looking up on an adoption agency and or an abortion and even..." I began to explained
He cut me off.
'Jasmine, what's the name of that drug you've been taking?" he asked me, tilting my head towards his face.
His touch made me shivered all over again and I hated myself for allowing such feeling to happen in his presence. Evan Hollen would always have an effect on me.
'Drug?" I asked confusingly.
His dark eyes scanned my entire body.
'Well you have to be taking something in order for you to be speaking like someone without any sense."
'Evan, I was only exploring options."
'Well then STOP exploring damn options!" he yelled, causing me to leap with fright.
'Sorry. I didn't mean to yell," he quickly apologized after seeing I was frightened by his tone of voice.
'I don't think this baby is coming at the right time. We've already parted ways and are moving on in life. I just want my life back, Evan. I'm strongly leaning to an abortion," I said.
I wiped the sweat from my hands on my jeans. I was nervous as a sinner in church.
Evan adjusted himself on the car seat so that he was facing me undivided.
'Do you realize you're sitting in MY car, carrying MY child yet you're talking some bullshit about abortion and or adoption?
Jasmine, do you think I'm one of those dead-beat dads out there looking for the easy way out?
Hell would have to freeze over before you give my kid up for adoption and you'll be having an abortion over my dead body!"
I froze.
I found myself looking at him and admiring the man I couldn't seem to get over. It was like every time I saw him, he became more handsome. He had grown a clean facial beard which complimented his face even more and made him look more mature. Just when I thought he couldn't get any more handsome, he just had to go mouth watering on a woman.
'I just got an idea," he said, shaking me from my trance. 'Pack your things."
'Pack my things?" I repeated, wondering if I had heard him correctly.
'You're moving into my mansion."
Jasmine's POV
'Pack my things?" I asked for the second time.
'Did I stutter?" he asked. He turned the car engine off and opened his car door. I remained seated. I felt numb.
'Jasmine," he called me as he came around my side. He opened the passenger's door and stood there, waiting for me to get out.
'Why do you want me to move into your house? I'm very comfortable and happy at my own apartment."
'Jasmine, you're having my kid. You've been talking crazy about adoption and abortion. Do you think I'll be comfortable having you away from me with the baby inside you?
You're moving into the mansion where I can keep a closer eye on you and the baby."
'But you're at work all the time!"
'Jasmine, I'm not going to fight you on this any longer. Get yourself upstairs and let your sister assist you with packing."
'I don't want to leave my sister and my mother," I protested as the tears came welling up in my eyes.
He ran his fingers through his hair and looked heavenward. He mouthed something to himself and I was certain it was ‘Lord, give me strength.'
I stepped out the car and moved pass him. I went upstairs, slammed the door shut behind me and moved towards my bedroom. Zenia tailed behind.
'Thanks a lot Zenia!" I snapped at her as she came into the bedroom.
'You're welcome."
'You think this is funny? This is my life you're constantly butting into."
