CHAPTER 64
My words had hurt her because she began crying silently. She took a tissue from her purse and wiped her eyes before sitting on the bed.
I turned back to my phone again and smiled at the nude pictures Aria had just sent. She was doing this at such a bad time.
'You're such an asshole," I heard Jasmine's voice again.
She was really trying to get at me today.
'Jasmine..Fine! What do you want to talk about?" I semi shouted.
'I want to talk about us with the baby! There is ‘us' because of this baby and as you said, you've already moved on. I just want us to compromise on how we're actually going to do this."
'That's easy. Once the baby is here, I'll have my child and you can have your life back."
'What? So you're not going to let me be a part of my baby's life?"
'Why? After you wanted an abortion? Tell me why I should allow that child to even know you?"
'You son of a bitch! I'm not going to let you take my baby away from me."
'Well pray that I'm not the father then."
'Hello hello," a male voice greeted and a doctor came through the doors.
'I'm Dr. Matador and you must be Evan Hollen and Jasmine Blackman," he added.
Putting my phone away, I stood and shook hands with him.
'Okay. Let's get right into it. I know you're a very busy man."
Thank you.
'Okay Jasmine, just lay back. Today we'll be doing an ultrasound examination to make sure if everything is going in accordance with the baby in there."
I watched as Jasmine laid back and Dr. Matador lifted up her T-shirt and below her breasts.
I felt a spark lit in me which I shook off immediately. He applied some gel to her abdomen area and rubbed it gently. A fit of jealousy came playing on my heart next.
What the hell?
The monitor across the room began to show the sonogram when he moved around her abdomen with a transducer.
'There's your baby," Dr. Matador said as he looked at the screen too. I looked on and became speechless. A very tiny figure was shown in a sack.
'Excellent progress Jasmine. You're at six weeks and the baby is developing in the uterus. Has a heartbeat of 90-110 BPM which is wonderful. I'll recommend some prenatal vitamins and minerals for growth and development. Please take it once a day everyday with meals.
How's your morning sickness?"
'I don't have any. I only get sick if I'm under pressure or stress," she answered.
I raised an eyebrow and folded my arms.
'Jasmine. Evan. For the best of health for this baby, the mother shouldn't be under no form of pressure and or stress.
And I don't think I have to tell you what it could result to," Dr. Matador explained with a concerned look on his face.
A dreadful feeling came over me and I felt like a total asshole indeed.
'Well Jasmine, I'll be seeing you on your next visit which is next week by the way. Your due date approximate for delivery is April 12th-15th. Please take good care of yourself and your baby and congratulations."
'Thank you very much Dr. Matador," she said to him. He wiped away the gel from her stomach and Jasmine fixed her T-shirt.
'I'll be right back," he said to us. He left the room.
Jasmine got off the bed and walked over to me and immediately slapped me across the face.
'What the hell!" I yelled at her. I wasn't expecting her to hit me like that. I held my cheek.
'You're not taking my baby!" she yelled.
'Okay. What I said earlier, I didn't mean that. I guess I am just still angry with you and I can't forget or forgive what you did. But I shouldn't of threatened you like that. I'm willing for us co-parent."
Taking in what the doctor told us about stress and pressure, I should not of said what I said. Jasmine wanted the baby and hadn't mentioned anything about an abortion since she moved in with me.
After receiving the prescription and pills to her vitamins and minerals, I called my personal driver to come get her. I was going straight to the office.
Jasmine's POV
'I'll have Fisher come get you. He'll also be your personal bodyguard when you're in public," Evan said as he handed me an envelope.
'What's this?" I asked.
'Money."
'For?"
'Yourself. Go into town and do some early shopping. Dresses, tops, shoes, bags. Whatever you want."
'And for the baby?"
He raked his fingers through his hair.
'Jasmine, the baby will be taken care of. You don't need to worry about that."
'Do you really believe that you're not the father Evan? Because you said I better hope that you're the father so that means there's still doubts in your mind."
'Can you really blame me for thinking that?"
I shook my head no.
'Good. Enjoy the rest of your day," he said. He walked to his car as another car pulled up in the parking lot.
