CHAPTER 36
A knock came at the door.
Instant panic came over me.
′Calm down. It's only a casual dinner date.′
'Hi," I greeted as I opened the door to the handsomeness standing there.
He looked so perfect and down to earth in plain black jeans, clean white T-shirt and white sneakers. His hair slicked back to his head, eyes luminous and a bright smile on his lips. He really was the most handsome man I've ever laid eyes on. Magazines and television didn't do him enough justice.
'Wow, you look so damn beautiful," he complimented which made me formed a big smile. His eyes scanned me as he bit his bottom lip. And I felt the sparks already.
'Thank you. And so do you," I complimented him back.
'So are you ready?" he asked.
I nodded yes.
'Oh I know you're not about to leave before introducing me to your date," my sister blurted out, coming towards the door.
'I'm sorry. I completely forgot about you," I apologized with a small laugh.
'Yes. I can see why," she said.
Evan flashed a huge smile.
'Hi I'm Evan," he said, stepping inside and extending his hand. She shook it.
'I'm Zenia. Jasmine's sister. It's so nice to finally meet you."
'Likewise."
'Bye Zenia," I ended her staring at him.
Evan walked out and I followed suit.
'Jassy wait!" Zenia called.
I stopped in my path. She came up and whispered in my ear.
'Please tell me what his younger brother looks like when you get back."
I couldn't hold back from a big laughter. Evan smiled at us as he stood five feet away.
'Girl bye," I dismissed her.
She went back indoors and I followed Evan to his car. He opened the door for me, just like a gentleman. I got into the passenger's side and he got into the driver's seat.
'You really look stunning," he complimented again.
'Thanks." I mentally thank Zenia.
He pulled off the pavement and held my left hand with his right for the entire car ride to his parents' mansion.
We entered through a huge golden gate and drove up to the entrance of a very beautiful mansion.
'Are you okay?" he asked, looking at me as he parked the car.
I nodded yes. Speechless by the beauty I was surrounded by.
'You're nervous. It's okay. My mom and dad are not difficult people. I bet she'll love you because dad does."
I opened the car door and got out when he did. He came over to me, held my hand again and led us through a glass door.
'We're here!" he called as we entered into a room which was absolutely breathtaking.
A maid greeted us.
'Good evening Mr. Hollen. How are you doing?"
'I'm fine Dory. This is my date. Jasmine," he introduced me.
'Hello Jasmine and welcome."
'Thank you," I said to her.
'This way to the dining room. Mr and Mrs Hollen will be down shortly but EJ is already at the table. He was very eager to see you again and when he heard you were bringing a date, he went even crazier," she said as we followed her pass two living rooms.
She opened a door and allowed us to walk in.
A huge dining table awaited. And sitting at it, was the younger image of Evan. I recognized him from the office.
'Bro!" his excitement got the best of him. He got up and hugged his big brother. Evan returned his embrace and tapped him on the back before ruffling his hair. EJ growled lowly.
'Let me introduce you to my date, Jasmine. Jasmine this is my little brother, Ethan Junior. Or you can call him EJ for short."
'It's nice to meet you," I said, extending my hand. He didn't take it. He hugged me instead.
'It's nice to meet you too," he said back after releasing me from his embrace. He was just like his father.
'Hello," a cheerful voice said behind us. Emily had arrived with her date. She was wearing a green dress, fitting tight at the top and falling loosely at her ankles. I couldn't get a clean look at her shoes, but knowing the wealth these people were sitting on, it had to be expensive.
Evan greeted his sister and so did I. She greeted him with a wave but greeted me with another hug.
Evan pulled out a chair, allowing me to take a seat. He sat down right beside me which calmed my nerves since I was getting nervous again by the minute.
The door opened and a couple walked in.
'Hi Halley, hey Martin," Emily said with a darling smile.
She wouldn't call her mom ‘Halley' so that definitely wasn't her. I didn't recognize them though.
'That's my parents' best friends. Halley and Martin. They have a son together but he's spending the summer with his grandmother," Evan said in a whisper to my ears.
'Okay," I answered back softly watching as they take a seat opposite from us.
The doors opened again.
'Hello everybody," Mr. Hollen greeted. He was dressed casually like his sons and following right behind him was a very beautiful black woman.
That explains it.
My nerves calmed instantly this time.
Evan got up and I followed suit.
