Chapter23.

I sneaked back to the party, Fredrick finds me coming and he came to me "so!! What's up?". He asked. " I couldn't find the property papers". I said and followed Rina outside the mansion She gets into her car and drove off, I stopped a  taxi and followed her. ( Hours later) She stopped in front of an old building, a man strolls out to meet her and while they both conversed in a low tone, I got off from the taxi and sneaked in using the broken window behind. I found myself inside a room and meet Chris tied up to a chair. He gets surprised to see me and begged me to leave before Rina finds me here. It seems I am the only one happy to see them after being months apart... I got emotional and hugged him. "Oh thank God, you're fine, what happened?". I asked when someone walk in. Rina comes in with a smile,  " hello my lovely soon-to-be brother-in-law". Chris's face gets irritated," seriously!! Do you think, my brother will get married to you, Rina, you're nothing but a lunatic". He spits to the floor, which made her furious Rina raised her hand and slapped him. Chris however couldn't do anything since he was tied up. I had every right to split her head into two, but now wasn't the right time, I have got to get Chris out of harm's way. Rina leaves with a man, I waited for her to go further before running to his aid "Chris! Are you okay?" I asked. "Yes, I am fine,". He replied. There was no way I was going to leave him here all alone, I brought out a sharp object and loosed him. He grabbed my hands and we both sneaked out without being seen. Chris and I ran farther away from the place, but all of a sudden he got a little weak. I looked and found out that he was bleeding. He cries out. I sat him on a boulder, ripped a part of my cloth, and tied up his wounds. "Better now?". I asked He jiggled his head, and immediately fell unconscious. There was nowhere to take him to, And I'm sure that right now, Rina's goons must have noticed that Chris has escaped. Luckily, I strained my eyes and found a cottage, it was a few hikes away. I held Chris and managed to get him there. A lady walks out and met us at her front door,  she got suspicious and angrily brings out a gun with her. I had to beg her to help us, at first she wasn't willing to but ended up taking us in. She assisted me with Chris and we got into the visitor's room. I thanked her and the lady nods shutting the door behind her. Meanwhile, Rina returned home angry, she went crazy scattering and breaking anything her hands brushed. Right after she heard the news of Chris's escape. Fredrick walks in. "What happened?". Rina turns to him and asked if he knew of my whereabouts. Fredrick shook his head and swore he knew nothing. Rina took hold of her phone and anxiously dialed a number, she says, " do me a favor, look for Chris, and yes, I'll send you a photo of a lady, I believe she's with him, so if by chance she is, do not hesitate to kill them both". She ordered. Fredrick couldn't take any more of her games, he grabbed her hand, tossed her phone away, and slapped her. "Did you just slap me?" She held her face. " Yes! And I will slap you again and again since you don't listen, I am sick and tired of your mind games, and I swear if anything happens to my brother or even to Sophia, I will not hesitate to kill you myself". Fredrick walks all over her and she gets a crazy idea as he leaves. A few minutes later, the authorities paid a visit. Fredrick was just coming downstairs and he meets them walking in. "What's going on officers? Is there a problem?". He asked. Rina comes down, and when she saw that Fredrick was talking to the officers, she falls to the floor and cries out. Immediately, they all turned and found her all beaten up. "please officers, take this man away from here, I don't want to see him, he has done this to me,". She lied. "What are you doing?" Fredrick went to her. Rina tilted her head down a little and whispered to his ears," what does it look like Fredrick, have you forgotten that I have you at my mercy, and trust me, everyone will be happy to know that, Fedrick Rick, killed a girl who's family must be searching for her killer, how would you feel if I tell on you?" Fredrick instantly got tensed, he begged her not to tell on him, and in return would do whatever she asks. " What do you think, I want?". She replied in a sarcastic voice "I don't know, Rina! So kindly tell me what you need" He pulls her away from the authorities Rina took out her hands and instructed the officers to leave. Fredrick sees that and they finally got a chance to speak openly. (Rina finally speaks louder) "I need you to do something for me, can you do it and if not, you can as well say goodbye to your freedom". "Please tell me?", Fredrick replied. She grins and said. "I need you to kill Ricardo Rick, your father". ( The ###Chapter ends with Fedrick's shocked look)
