Chapter 15 - STAY AWAY
Luna Morris
People's first impression of you is important. It usually determines the whole relationship between you and that person. Many people say I look nice and artsy because I love to wear dramatic eye shadows and make them look so pretty.
They thought I was fun and friendly when I was far from that.
I learned an important lesson after I dropped out of school that I have to protect what's mine. When I hit the lowest point of my life, something within me snapped.
It's like hell broke loose.
Clyde was not mine. He was not mine 12 years ago and certainly not now, but seeing him with that woman made me want to drag her by the hair and throw her to the hungry lions.
"Who are you?" That came out of my mouth uncontrollably. My eyes were glued to her. She's beautiful, and she has gorgeous chocolate-brown hair that falls to her waist. Her makeup was flawless, and she dressed fashionably from head to toe.
I can easily tell that she's as rich as Clyde. That's why he knows her.
"This is my girlfriend, Luna. This is Celia, or was it Celina?"
"It's Celine." She put her hands on her chest, looking at Clyde offended. "This is your girlfriend?" She turned to me, looking at me like she was seeing a rat on the street. She was disgusted.
"You should leave," I said, and instead of listening to my warnings. She linked her arm to Clyde's again. My attention fell on Clyde, who was already watching me. That's when I realized my reaction was a mistake.
A terrible mistake.
Before I could do or say something, someone threw a high heel at Celine. I leaned my body to the side and saw a shoulder-length dark brown-haired woman standing behind Celine. She got her other heels in her hand, ready to throw them at her.
"Ana, what the fuck!" Celine hissed as she put her hand on her back where the heels landed. "We have an unfinished business." Ana walked towards Celine and grabbed her by the hair. Ana dragged Celine away.
"Jesus Christ, Ana." Clyde sighed as he closed her eyes.
"You know her?" I asked as I watched people looking at Ana dragging Celine, confused. "Yes, we run in the same circle."
"Is she crazy?" I asked as Ana grabbed Celine by the neck and continued to drag her out of the mall. She doesn't care about other people looking at her.
"What was that?" Clyde asked, and I knew he wanted to discuss what had happened earlier.
"I'm busy, and you're interrupting me."
"You're shopping, Butterfly." He stated the obvious as he looked down at my shopping bags. "What do you want?" I asked.
"Let's go eat together, and then we can find you a dress." He said. "I'm not in the mood to be with somebody. Leave me alone." I said straight to the point because I do need it.
"I'll be your shadow then." He said, and I turned around to continue my shopping spree. I walked into a make-up store and started roaming around. I tried different types of foundation, eye shadows, and eyeliner. I looked around to see if Clyde was there, but he was not around.
I walked to the cashier to pay, and Mila held the shopping bags. I thanked her, and the cashier handed me the receipt without paying. "Mr.Nielsen already paid for it, miss." She smiled.
"Can you cancel it and let me pay?" I asked. "I'm sorry, we can't."
"Very well, thank you." I walked out of the store and looked around to find him. My phone vibrated. I checked to see a text message from Clyde.
Clyde: I told you I'll be your shadow. Now continue.
Luna: I don't need you to pay for my things. I don't want to owe you anything.
Clyde: You don't. Just go shopping. It's been taken care of.
Luna: As you wish, then.
Instead of not spending his money, I decided to go on a crazy shopping spree to piss him off. I want him to get a heart attack when he sees his bills later. Mila had to go back and forth to the car to put my shopping bags in. I didn't even count how much I've spent, but hopefully, it's above 150.000 dollars.
We ended the day by going to an expensive steak restaurant. I told Mila to sit with me, she initially rejected the offer, but she agreed after I begged her to stay.
"How long have you been working with Clyde?" I asked as I put a piece of steak in my mouth, looking at her curiously. "5 years, Ms.Morris."
"Please call me Luna."
"I can't call you by name, and I feel uncomfortable." She said, and I nodded, allowing her to call me whatever she wanted.
"Is he mean and rude as a boss?" I asked curiously.
"He's cold and rarely talks, but he's okay. Some people feared him, but he never did anything bad." Well, that's a nice description. I bet she's scared that Clyde will fire her.
Clyde: Don't talk about me behind my back, Butterfly.
I looked around to find him, but he was nowhere to be found. I looked at the text again.
Clyde: I send something to your apartment. Let me know what you think later, and I'll see you later tonight.
I knew that he already left after he texted me. I decided to enjoy my late lunch. Mila and I talked about a lot of things. She is interested in art as much as I do. I had to take notes and asked her to go to the galleries and museums with me.
I was busy eating when I saw Celine walking with her hair all over the place and a cut lip. She's busy calling someone, yelling at them.
"Do you know Ana? The person who dragged Celine earlier?" I asked Mila, and she looked at me, scared.
"Yes, she ran in the same circle as Mr.Nielsen and his friends. She's Mr.Nielsen's friend's fiancee, and I think you'll meet her at the charity event on Friday.
"What is she like?"
"Stay away from her, or you'll end up like Celine." I think I should.
