Chapter 29 - CONFESSION

Luna Morris I had just exited the shower when I heard someone entering my apartment. I left my room and found Clyde in the living room with many take-outs. He turned to me with a smile, but he looked so drained out. Not only that, but something felt a little off. "I thought you didn't have work." "It was an emergency." I walked towards him, and he pulled me to sit on his lap. My back was facing him, and he kissed my neck before resting his face on my shoulder. "Did something happen?" "Why do you assume something had happened?" He asked, and I turned to him. I looked into his hazel eyes. "You looked tired and stressed out," I said, and he hugged me again. "I'm going to tell you a story, Butterfly. A little story about my life." I was nervous to hear it. Clyde never opened up about his life before, not when we were kids, not even after we met again. I respect his decision because I don't want to tell him what happened to me when he's not around. I'm not ready. Not yet. Clyde started to tell his story. He said to me about how he was treated back in Denmark and how his grandfather wished that he was the one who sat on that throne. How his relationship with Christopher was, and how he ended up in London for a couple of years. Then he told me about what happened when I was 12 years old when he left me and sent me a letter telling me that he regretted meeting me and that I was nothing but a nuisance. My heart broke. I never thought Clyde was going through something like that. He protected himself and me from the chaos that he believed would occur. His family was the last person I thought would hurt him. He abdicated his title when he was so young he had to go to America alone to survive. Not only staying alone, but he had to avoid his brother's wrath. He told me about his involvement with the mafia for a few years and how the mafia ended up working with Christopher, they almost killed him if it wasn't for Asher and Kayden. I was crying like my heart was ripped out of my body. Clyde went through a lot. He had to sacrifice many things when he was just a little kid. He sacrificed his relationship with me to ensure Christopher didn't touch me. "I'm sorry," I said as I cried more. I turned my body around and hugged him. He kissed me on my cheek before letting out a chuckle. "It's okay, Butterfly." He caresses my back. "I'm sorry, I've hated you for years. I didn't know you were protecting me." I cried more as I held him tightly. "No one will bother us anymore." He whispered, and I nodded. "Thank you for telling me your story. It would help if you told me when we were kids. We would have to find a way to get through this." I pulled away from him, and he shook his head. I cried even more, and he chuckled again. "Luna, how can I tell you all of those things? You're such a sunshine, and I don't want to ruin that." I punched his chest lightly. Clyde sighed before holding my arms, "Things will go downhill starting tomorrow." "What do you mean?" I asked as he wiped my tears. "Christopher will die tomorrow. I wanted to tell you beforehand. I don't want you to freak out when the news comes out tomorrow." My jaw dropped, but I wiped my tears. I never thought I would be happy and ecstatic to hear the news of Christopher's death. Something within me felt so much relief knowing that bastard won't be able to hurt Clyde anymore. I should not have been happy to hear such things, but I would pay big money to see how he died. He hurt Clyde so much that I would have planned his dead. I would have hired a hitman for it. Because if I could kill for sport, I would kill Christopher first, then my bully psychopaths. "How?" I asked, and Clyde seemed hesitant to tell me, "Please tell me." Clyde then proceeded to tell me what happened today. I listened to him without any expression. Christopher deserved it anyway, not only for hurting Clyde but for the crazy man he is. "I'm going to London in two days. I'll be there for three weeks. There's some work that I need to handle." He dropped the bomb, and I found myself shaking my head. "No, you can't go there." I found myself preventing him from going. Thinking that Mara and Clement would torture him the way they tortured me. "Not London, Clyde." "You don't need to worry, Butterly." He smiled as he cupped my face, but I shook my head. "No, I'm not letting you go to London. You're staying here." I started crying again, "Luna, I'll be fine." "No! I'm telling you that you're not allowed to go to London. You'll die there. They'll torture you." I screamed at him and cried in his arms. "No one can hurt me, Butterfly. I'd torture them back if they got me." "No, Clyde. Please, I beg you!" I did not have it. "Why?" He asked, and I looked straight into his eyes. "Can you explain why you don't allow me to go to London?" I shook my head as I remembered every torture Mara and Clement gave me. I got off Clyde's lap and started to relive the trauma. I walked to my painting room and started throwing paints at an empty canvas. My demons slowly came out of me, and the thoughts of killing Mara and Clement began to go to the surface. "Luna." I turned to Clyde, who was standing by the door. My attention then turned to my surroundings. It was pure chaos, and my head started spinning. Everything turned red. "Clyde," I called him. "Yes, Butterfly?" "Don't go to London." I begged. "If you tell me not to, then I won't."
