Chapter 9 - BUTTERFLY

Luna Morris Ten years old. "I don't want to go, and I want to stay home and draw!" I kept whining to my grandfather because I was not in the mood to attend social events. He stopped walking towards the car and kneeled at my eye level. "Are you sure you don't want to go? There's a big garden there, and I bet you'll find some butterflies to draw." I hesitated for a moment, debating whether I should go or not. "If you don't want to go, I won't force you. You can go back inside and hang out with grandmother." He smiled, and I held his hand again, indicating I wanted to go. We got into the limousine, and Terry, our driver, drove us toward the event. Grandfather gave me my small sketchbook and a pencil to draw while waiting for him. "We're here, Mr.Morris," Terry said, and I looked out the window. The guards opened the gate for us, and we drove towards a long driveway towards a beautiful mansion. Lots of people get out of the car wearing gorgeous dresses and suits. I'm wearing a puffy white dress and a big white ribbon on my hair, tying half my hair up. I smiled, knowing I looked as pretty as all the other girls. Terry opened the door for us. I got out first, and Grandfather followed. He held my hand as we walked towards the mansion. Some people greeted my grandfather, and I waved at them just to be polite. The mansion was big, and it might be five or six times bigger than my mansion. It is filled with wood and marble interior, very modern and cozy. My breath was taken away by the garden where the event took place. It was the most beautiful garden that I've ever seen. There are tons of colorful flowers, but I only can identify two of them. Blue Roses and White Lilies. I let my grandfather's hand go, "Don't roam around too much. Stay where I can see you!" He warned me, but I just ran off. I was too excited to see everything. I walked towards the blue rose garden, and this garden took my breath away. I walked along the path and found a pond right behind it. My eyes caught a beautiful white butterfly sitting in the pink flower garden. I stepped on a rock to get a shortcut to that garden. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." My head snapped to the person who was standing behind me. A boy with sandy brown hair looked at me with his judging hazel eyes. He put his hands into his pocket and looked at the sketchbook in my hand. I turned my attention back to the white butterfly, who was still sitting calmly on the pink flower. I ignored the boy's warning and stepped on the rock, continuing my journey. After getting so close to the butterfly, my foot slipped, causing me to fall straight into the garden. The butterfly flew away. "Told you." The boy said in a boring tone. I got up slowly, and the dirt ruined my dress. I turned to the boy and glared. I tried to walk back quickly but slipped into the pond. I cried. "Spoilt brat." The boy said, still looking at me bored. He didn't even try to help. I crawled up and threw my sketchbook to his face. "You're mean! You didn't even help me!" I glared at him, and he looked at me from head to toe. "I warned you, that counts..." He said as he grabbed my wet sketchbook from the ground. I continued to cry, but the boy did nothing. "You draw?" He asked, making me stop crying. I nodded, and he shook his head, giving me a sign to follow him. He leads me toward another hidden garden. My eyes caught a beautiful blue butterfly, and I squealed, trying to get close to it. I was a step away from the butterfly when the boy stopped me. "You're going to scare them away." He held my arm tightly, causing me to pout. "I want to get close! I want to see it!" I whined. "Listen, spoilt brat, you will scare every butterfly away if you—" He froze, and I looked at my head. A butterfly landed on my forehead, and I gripped the boy's hand tightly. "Don't move." He whispered. "I want to touch it," I whispered as I tried to touch it with my free hand. "No." "Why not?!" I whined. Suddenly the butterfly flew away, and I pouted. I walked away from the boy to find more butterflies, but this time, I approached it and touched it. "Where are you going, Butterfly?" The boy asked, and I turned around to see who is he talking to. "I'm talking to you." He said, and I pointed a finger at myself. "Me?" "I don't know your name, so I might as well call you Butterfly." He said, and I ignored him. I walked towards the beautiful yellow flower because there was a white butterfly on there. "What's your name?" I asked as I tiptoed. "Clyde." "I'm Luna." When I got close, the butterfly flew away. I stomped on my feet, completely pissed. "How old are you?" He asked as he stopped me by my wrist. I turned to him, and he pointed at something before me. "You're clumsy." I looked down to see a big pond in front of me. Out of nowhere, I heard a buzzing sound. "Let's go!" Clyde held my hand and pulled me away. He led me out from the hidden garden and looked around. "What is it?" I asked. "A bee." "A bee? I want to draw a bee!" I said as I clapped my hands. "If you want to end up like looking like a Fungus, then go ahead," Clyde said and walked past me. "Who's Fungus?" I asked following him. "Look it up, Butterfly." "My name is Luna!" I pouted. "I'll call you whatever I want, Butterfly."
