Epilogue
Clyde Nielsen
Four years later...
"Why did I agree to this?" I asked myself as I grabbed another glass of champagne from the waiter.
Mason gave me a giant pair of scissors for our ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Bloodhounds just launched our newest tech company, and we're opening our first store in Seattle.
I was drunk when Kayden asked me if I wanted to join him, and I said yes without thinking. I regretted it a lot.
"Take over," I said to Mason, kissing his wife's forehead. Mason turned to me and glared. "I'm not taking over, Nielsen," he said coldly, and I cursed under my breath.
"Take the fuck over!" I hissed, and Mason pretended to look away. His wife chuckled.
"You should take Luna with you next time," Ares said, knowing I had never brought Luna to this event.
There are too many people and many intimidating ones since many guards surround the place.
"Let's just fucking cut the ribbon and be done with it!" I hissed.
"You're acting like an old man, Nielsen. Be patient, baby brother." Mason teased, and I gave him my middle finger. He laughed like a maniac.
"Where's Asher?" Kayden joined us.
"He will never come. He's busy." Mason answered him.
The staff announced that we were going to start the ceremony. Kayden gave a little speech, and then we cut the ribbon together. We all cheered with our champagne glasses, and the store was officially opened.
"I'm out of here." I gave my scissors to Blanc and grabbed my car key from him. I walked to my car and went home because I missed my wife.
I stopped at a flower shop to buy a bouquet of white roses and some take-outs for dinner.
These days, Luna has been preparing for her art exhibition. She started getting busy and meeting with her team to make everything perfect.
As long as she's happy, I'm not going against it.
Happy wife, happy life.
I drove into the driveway, and there were so many cars inside. Team Alpha never reported to me such a thing as visitors. I parked my car and got out of the vehicle. I brought all the food and flowers with me.
"Stop!" I stopped walking towards the entrance door. I looked up to see Luna standing on the painting room balcony.
"What? Why?" I raised my hands.
"Go back to your car and take a 10-minute drive." She said as she twirled her hand. "Butterfly, I got home faster for you, and you're kicking me out?" She turned to her back as if someone was telling her something. She gave that person a nod.
"20 minutes!" She changed her mind.
"Butterfly, I can't just–" She crossed her arms in front of her chest, glaring at me. "Fine, I'm going to put these on the front door. Ask Mila or whoever is inside to get it, your favorite Italian place. In case you're hungry!"
I walked backward and got into my car. Luna walked into the house again, and I drove out because my wife decided to kick me out today.
I drove for another twenty minutes to town and went to the market to buy some things for her. I bought dragon fruits, chocolates, peanut butter, and three tubs of her favorite ice cream.
I kept checking the time, and when it hit 20 minutes, I drove home.
Mila was already waiting for me at the entrance. I got out of the car, super confused.
"Mr.Nielsen." Mila greeted me and handed me a medium-sized black box. She took over my grocery, and I walked past her to get inside.
"Luna?"
"In the living room." I made my way there, and Luna greeted me with a hug. She kissed me before showing me what she'd been doing.
She was putting her new painting on the living room wall. I was amazed by it because it's a painting of our house. She drew the house from above. I strolled to see the details, and my eyes stopped at three heads in the garden.
"I thought you'd open it as soon as you got it." She chuckled, looking at the box.
"Open the box." She said, and I turned my attention to the box Mila had given me earlier. I took off the ribbon and opened the box.
It's baby clothes, with a pregnancy test that says positive, and a water bottle for babies.
It took me a minute to process before I looked up at her, and she was already crying. I put the box on the sofa and hugged her.
"When did you find out?" I asked as she pulled away. I wiped her tears, and she chuckled.
"Like a week ago."
"Why didn't you tell me?" She put her finger in front of me and removed a small black bag from the ground, opening the zipper and putting everything out.
She took almost 15 pregnancy tests.
"I wasn't sure because I was still taking birth control." I looked at the box and the painting again.
"Are you mad?" She asked.
"No! I'm so happy, and it's just... I'm speechless." I walked to her and pulled her into a hug again.
"We're going to be parents, like real parents."
"Yes." She answered in a nervous tone.
We both came from a very complicated background where our parents were never really involved in our lives. I always know one day that, we're going to be parents, but I don't know if I will be a great one or not.
I don't want to repeat my parents' mistakes, but at the same time, how am I going to be a good dad?
"We'll figure it out, Clyde. We always do." She cupped my face, and I nodded.
"I'm excited," I whispered.
"Me too, I can't wait to be a mom." She squealed and I spun her around. She led me to the painting again, she pointed at the three heads from above.
"That's you." She pointed at the biggest head, and I chuckled.
"That's me." The second biggest and then she pointed at the smallest one.
"That's going to be our baby boy or girl."
"Baby Nielsen."
