56. And it’s perfect!
Briella received a text from Braun while she was inside her dressing room with Chelsey. The two of them were discussing the upcoming Gala tomorrow night; she was one of the invitees and would receive an award for her consecutive best-selling magazine covers and her status as the country's highest-paid model.
Just last week, she had finished her photoshoots in Paris, and next month, those photos would be launched.
It had been three weeks since Matilda's accident, and many mourned her loss, especially her fans who had shown immense support for her. Even Jovert mourned, although not as intensely, still harbouring resentment for the woman's disregard. Meanwhile, Xander had completely lost interest in his girlfriend.
Reporters hadn't stopped questioning for a week, and some of Matilda's fans were angry at Xander, believing he was to blame for their idol's disappearance.
Everything went downhill for Xander; he was forced to sell his shares in Star Agency, and Cecile took over. Xander paid off her ten million debt and even dropped the lawsuit from Crown Star Entertainment to avoid imprisonment. Xander had nothing left, even reportedly selling his house.
After that, Briella never saw him again, or rather, he never showed up again.
Cecile replaced him as the new CEO of Star Agency, and she still helped Jovert by giving him a small amount to start a small business.
'Do you have something to wear for tomorrow?" Chelsey asked.
Briella nodded. 'Braun will choose the outfit for me," she replied.
'Whoa! Seriously?" Chelsey asked, amazed.
She raised an eyebrow. 'Is that surprising?" she asked.
Chelsey shrugged. 'Well, yeah? You're a very lucky woman, Brie, do you know that?" she teased.
Briella nodded, not denying it because it was true. If she hadn't met Braun, she didn't know how she would change her life. She stood up and adjusted herself.
'I have to go, please tell Cecile if she passes by here that I've already left," she told Chelsey.
'Can't I come with you?" Chelsey retorted.
'No, you'll just clash with Luigi, and Braun will get annoyed with you again," she said, giving her a sly look.
Chelsey rolled her eyes. 'Cut it out," she said.
'What?" she asked, laughing.
'Stop teasing me," Chelsey said.
'I'm not, but why are you blushing?" she asked. She laughed when Chelsey held both her cheeks and scowled.
'Go away! All you do is tease me about that handsome Hitler!"
'Handsome Hitler?" she repeated what Chelsey said.
Chelsey paused and blushed even more. 'I-I didn't say that. I said stupid Hitler! Sometimes clean your ears, you're going deaf!"
'See you," she said, laughing as she walked out of the dressing room.
When she entered the elevator, she was accompanied by some staff. She stood behind them and quietly waited for it to descend. They didn't speak either, and she could feel their discomfort around her. She remembered the three who had once mocked and laughed at her because of her dirty and cramped dressing room.
When the elevator chimed, the door opened, and she raised an eyebrow when they moved aside, heads bowed. They didn't wait to speak, and she exited first if that's what they wanted.
'Thank you," she said before finally leaving the elevator and walking towards the exit of the building.
Some people greeted her as she walked, and she just nodded in response. Upon leaving the building, she was greeted by a smiling guard holding a bouquet of roses of various colours.
'Ma'am Briella, there's a delivery for you. They said to give it to you when you're leaving," the security guard said.
She smiled, nodded, and accepted the flowers, even though she didn't know where they came from. She looked at the card attached to it and paused when she saw the numbers written on it.
Four-Fifteen.
A beautiful smile spread across her lips, and after thanking the guard, she went to her car. As she placed the flowers on the seat beside her, her cell phone rang. Her smile widened upon seeing the numbers on the card.
'What's with the number, President Braun?" she asked playfully.
She heard his soft laughter. 'I'll tell you when you're here. Are you leaving now?"
'Do I need to answer that, hubby? Especially when you told the guard to give me the flowers when I'm going out?" she asked, still smiling.
'I just want to make sure, wife. Drive safely, I'll wait for you here. I love you," he said.
'Okay, I love you too," she replied before hanging up. After fastening her seatbelt, she drove off to meet him at a famous boutique. She was serious when she told Chelsey that Braun would choose her outfit. He seemed more excited about what she would wear than his outfit.
Of course, Braun couldn't miss such an event especially since some of tomorrow's winners are from his company. Janice also mentioned that Braun would receive an award for his successful career and for being Asia's Top Bachelor, as everyone didn't know that he was already married to her.
It took her almost three minutes to reach the boutique where Braun was. As she parked her car, she immediately saw Luigi and approached him.
'I'll take care of your car and bring it to your house," Luigi said politely.
She smiled, nodded, and handed him the keys before he escorted her into the boutique. She scanned the surroundings, and it was eerily quiet; she couldn't see any customers besides the staff, and she had a feeling it was Braun's doing.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around her waist from behind. She smiled without needing to turn around, immediately recognizing him by his expensive perfume.
'You're being clingy, President Braun. Aren't you afraid if someone sees us?" she asked with a smile.
'No. Are you?" he countered, planting a kiss on her shoulder.
She leaned her head to the side and chuckled softly.
'No," she replied. 'Aside from the staff, I know no one's here," she said.
He laughed and gently turned her to face him, then kissed her hand.
'You are one hell of a Queen," he said, taking her hand.
She smiled. 'I am?"
He winked at her and, after kissing her hand, led her upstairs. They went to one of the rooms, and she was amazed by the two matching outfits for couples.
Her eyes sparkled, and she immediately liked the dress in front of her. With so much excitement, she approached it and caressed the fabric.
'You like it?" she heard Braun ask.
She nodded. 'Can I try it on?" she asked with a smile.
He nodded and signalled the two staff to help her change. It seemed like the dress was made for her. It fit her perfectly, not too tight or too loose. She smiled as she looked at herself in the large mirror.
It was a burgundy fitted floor-length mermaid dress, embellished with sequins, a sleeveless bodice, a plunging neckline, and an open back with straps over the shoulders. She couldn't take her eyes off her reflection.
'You're gorgeous," Braun said, approaching her. She smiled when she saw him wearing a burgundy suit with long sleeves and a black bow tie.
Their eyes met in the mirror; he opened the large box, and she couldn't help but gasp when she saw what was inside.
It was a jewelry set of 18K white gold ruby diamonds. The necklace's design was unique and eye-catching. It had an infinite symbol setting with a teardrop-shaped Ruby stone and 18K white gold diamonds carved over the infinite symbol. A unique design had a joyful red stone in the center shining like a simulated diamond on the side.
'The pear-shaped red stone setting in the center of the Infinity charm means, you're only in my heart, forever, love," Braun explained as he gently put the necklace on her. She touched the pendant of the necklace, tears welling up in her eyes.
'I... I don't have anything to—"
'That's not true," Braun said promptly, lovingly caressing her right cheek. 'You gave me everything, wife. Happiness, joy, and love. Without you, I don't know if I can feel these feelings that I have for you, wife. You teach me how to love and to be loved. So, happy second month of being married, wife," he added.
She took a deep breath and fought back tears. She had noticed her emotional state in the past few days, but she hadn't given it much attention because she knew it was normal for women like her to feel that way.
'In that case, is it enough for me to say that I love you very, very much, President Braun?" she said, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
'More than enough," he replied, putting on the ring and earrings that matched the necklace.
She had nothing more to say to her husband. He knew exactly what would enhance her beauty even more. She didn't blink as she saw him in the mirror, busy attaching the earrings to her ears and then following suit with the ring, which had the same design.
'Now there's one more thing missing," he said, looking at her from the mirror. She raised an eyebrow when he untied her long, wavy hair. 'And it's perfect!"
'Perfect enough to be my Queen," he said with a smile as they both admired themselves in the mirror. They were wearing matching outfits.
'And you're perfect to be my King."
