Chapter 15 : In Denial
| In Denial |
HIS SUITE was bewilderingly luxurious, grander, ecclesiastical—it has a separate living area, two bedrooms, a dining area. He's rich. How can he live in this wide space all by himself? Isn't it too boring? Sometimes rich people seem not to enjoy their luxurious life. Yes, they can have the materialistic thing they want but they can never buy happiness. They're lack happiness. Yes, money can buy everything, but it doesn't mean that it can make you happy all the time. The purpose of money is to satisfy your needs. Basically, not favorable among us.
We may have lived in a highlander, farm area, where we always see fields. But the small things we do make us happy. We can feel the true meaning of love. We never compete to get something, to achieve something. Because we are happy for simple things.
Rich people love to compete for money. Though there were still people who know how to value things, it's only about thirty percent of them.
"You want to eat dried squash seeds, and bought it, but you never know how to open it?" I chuckled. "This snack was very common to a commoner like me."
This was just the favor he asked. Like where on earth did he come from and do not know how to open it. I shook my head and started to peel it, and he keeps on eating. And it makes me pissed again.
Why do I feel like I'm a slave here?
"Done. I need to go," I said and grabbed my bag at the single sofa.
"Okay."
I shift my gaze to him. "Is that it? You're not going to give a simple thank—"
"Thanks," he said and pick the glass bowl with seeds, and walk towards his room. He was about to twitch the doorknob when I cut in.
"Accompany me until I leave this place," I said. He dragged me here, so he needs to accompany me out.
He shifted his attention to me. He smirked. "You want to go home right? Then go," he said as he pointed the door. "No one is stopping you."
I held myself and control my anger. "You know, I don't know if you know the meaning of hospitality and being grateful. As time passes by, you look like a parasite to me. A toxic person who is full of himself—"
"Stop right there. Who are you to judge me?"
"I am Rebecca Fuentes, your highness," I said sarcastically.
My eyes narrowed as he stiffened. What's his problem?
He moves closer to where I'm standing. "What did you say?" he asked.
I raised my left eyebrow. "What?"
"You called me your highness?"
I don't know why he's acting weird.
"What's wrong with that?" I said and laughed. "Don't tell me you have a problem with it?"
He stops, and his eyes landed on mine in a few seconds. "Don't you ever address me with that?" he said.
I chuckled. "You surely have problems with everything, right? I don't know what's happening to you, but I need to go home," I said and turned my back away from him and walk towards the door. I opened it and take one final glance at him. To my surprise, he was still there as if a magic spell was cast and put him in deep thought.
Seriously, I don't get him.
"WHERE THE hell have you been?" asked Reina as she opened the door of our room.
"Just took some night walk. Why?"
She put her hands on the side of her waist, eyes raging on me. "Whoa, what's your problem?"
She laughed sarcastically. "What's my problem? You are my problem."
"Ha?"
"The Rebecca I know goes home right after her shift. She doesn't do late-night walks because she prefers to read books before she sleeps. Now tell me? Who are you and where have you been—don't try to philosophize me!' she said.
"Fine! I went to The Palace," I answered.
"The Palace?"
"Yes. The Palace. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to take a shower," I said.
"And what did you do there?" she asked. "Don't tell me you went to see the prince?" she added.
I grabbed my towel at the rack and replied, "of course not, prince my ass!"
"Then what did you do then? You visited your boyfriend, Linus?"
"Boyfriend!" I yelp. "FYI, he's not my boyfriend." Geez, it gives me goosebumps.
She went to her bed and sat down. "You think you can hide things in me?"
"What? I'm not hiding anything."
"Remember what I've said during our first day here… if you fall to someone, I'm not going to help you," she said.
I faked a laugh, "I'm not seeking help," I replied and went inside the bathroom.
I'm not in love. I will not let myself fall for someone else. Not with that Linus. It's a big NO.
