Chapter 21 : The Quiz
| The Quiz |
Does kissing a part of courting? I know it was just a smack, but it was still a KISS. And how dare he to kiss me. We're not into a relationship yet. ‘Yet?' asked the corner of my mind. ‘So, you want him to be your boyfriend?' a thought that echoed inside my head.
Damn! how can I sleep when he keeps on making my mind haywire? Reina on the other side was already snoring and me… I'm still wide awake. I don't know but I just keep on rolling in my small bed, trying to forget what just happened a while ago. But I can't. It seems like the thought doesn't want to vanish.
That jerk! He will see you tomorrow! He will regret what he did.
I was awakened by a small pinch in my cheek, as I open my eyes, I saw Reina. "Rise and shine, Becca. Does Linus didn't make you sleep? Seems you sleep late last night, huh?"
"What time is it?" I asked as I stretch my arms upward.
"Seven-thirty—"
"Seven—Seven what?" I said just to make sure I didn't hear it wrong.
"Seven-thirty."
"Oh, My, Gosh!" I blurted. I'm going to be late. We have a quiz today and in thirty minutes, my class is about to start. I wore my slippers, grabbed my towel, and went inside the bathroom.
"See! Just said yes to Linus, so you won't think too much about him!" Reina shouted. I even hear her here, what more to our dormmates? That girl… Geez!
"Will you just shut up? Just go and leave me alone!" I said and knocked on the door, telling her that I'm getting pissed. I just hear her laugh and the sound of the closing door.
When I'm done, I just wore a black denim skirt below the knee and a V-neck white shirt. I wear my white sneakers and put on some powder and lip tint. Off I go. But before it, I stared at my reflection for a seconds before I grab my tote bag and went out.
I didn't bother to grab my breakfast because in a minute I will be late. And I hate being late.
I sigh in relief when I am earlier than my professor. Nena and I have different seats. She's in the left part while I'm at the right-back part of the lecture hall.
It was a good thing that I did some advance review the other day, or else I may get an F.
Minutes later, our professor came and she's holding a quiz paper. She handed it in every row and let the student pass it to every student.
Linus is not my classmate in this subject—well, almost all of my subjects. We're just classmates in literature. Damn, I've been thinking of him again. And I don't even know his course. I don't even know anything about him, except that he's a student here, a rich guy, an underground fighter, and a waiter. That's all no more. Well, we're the same, he doesn't know more about me.
Do we need to have a getting-to-know-each-other session? But I think it will not be going to happen because I'm going to tell him later that I don't want him to court me anymore. That he will just find someone who is more deserving and appropriate his life. Me—Nah, I'm just nobody. And will never fit into their world.
But God always has plans, what if one day, I will be doing chitchats with them. I laughed inside my mind. Silly me.
The quiz isn't that difficult so, when I'm done, I already passed it and bid goodbye. I waited for Nena in the hallway.
"Geez, the quiz was so difficult," she uttered when she opens the door and went out.
I smiled. "It was easy if you reviewed our lessons," I said.
She snaked her arms on my left arm as we started to walk into the hallway. Students were outside having their chitchat sessions. I heaved a deep sigh. "Do you know the course of Linus," I asked out of the blue that even I was surprised about it.
"Pardon?" she asked.
"Nothing," I replied.
"You mumbled Linus and course? To answer that, even me, I don't know. All I know is that he's in the higher year and he's handsome, hot, and good at fighting," she said and giggled.
"You're attracted to him?" I asked.
"Yes. Why? Are you not attracted to that kind of guy? Gosh, have you seen his muscles? It flexed with his every move. His chiseled jaw, his gorgeous eyes, his eight-packs abs when he's topless—yummy," she said as she imagined the guy figures and bit her lips.
"Geez, you look like a maniac," I said and laughed.
"Well, I'm just stating facts. And whoever will be his girlfriend, damn girl… That girl would be lucky," she said.
I hemmed. "You think so?"
She stopped and looked at me. I bite my lower lip. "What?" I asked as I raised one eyebrow.
"Aren't you attracted to him? Well, you work together. You always see him, is there a chance that you look at him like you're in love?"
"What? No!" I answered. What is she talking about?
"Never mind. I think the famous leader of C.U's Cheerleading team likes him. What is her name again?" she acts like she was thinking while we're still walking and going to our next subject.
"Oh! I remember… it's Kesha."
"Kesha who?"
"Kesha Jones, graduating student, and she's still not back to C.U, because she has an internship at New York. I think she will be here next week if I'm not mistaken," she said.
"She's older than Linus?"
"Curious?" she mocked. I just nod my head. "I don't know. Maybe they have the same age."
I nodded countless times. If this Kesha wants him, and I assumed that girl is famous as she is a part of the cheerleading team—does Linus know about it? Should I ask him?
