Chapter 26 : Found Out
| Found Out |
I didn't get a good sleep because of excitement. Well, he's coming! I gently tapped Reina's face so she will wake up, good thing, she did.
"Hmm… what time is it?" she asked me.
I walked towards my closet to get some clothes. Just a few. Besides, I got lots of them at home.
"Seven."
"What time we will go home?"
"After lunch," I replied.
"Did you call your dad to pick us up?" she asked as she stretches her arms and yawned.
"Nope. We will surprise them," I answered and sat down at the wooden chair as I sipped on my coffee. "Come, let's eat," I said.
"Whoa! I guess you woke up early, huh. Excited to go home?" She stood up and walk in my direction. She yawned again as she gets her cup of coffee.
"Sort of," I replied. I will not tell her yet that Linus will come with us.
Reina was about to say something when my phone rang, and Linus' name registered in there. Reina's eyes widened and gasped as she saw it.
"Linus?"
"Excuse me, I'm just going to take the call," I said and went out.
Why does he need to call me at the wrong time? And why the hell did I put my table above the table? Ugh! I pulled my hair out of frustration and answer the call.
"Hi," he said.
Damn! why does it seem like a bedroom voice?
I cleared my throat. "Hmm… you just woke up?" I asked.
"Yeah. What time do we leave?"
"I will just text you when we're ready. But it's after lunch."
"Okay. I love you," he said, and he hangs up. Just wow! He didn't even wait for me to respond.
During lunch, we just talked about how we spent our vacation. When we had almost finished our food, I texted Linus to wait for us in front of our dorm. We bid goodbye to Ms. Dory before we parted ways.
"Woah! Can you see what I see?" Reina asked as we crossed the street.
My forehead creased. "Huh?"
She pointed something and I look straight at it. "Tesla," I whispered.
"Exactly! The Tesla which almost hit you! And what that damn thing doing in front of our dorm?" she exclaimed.
Don't tell me…
My hunch was confirmed when the driver's window opens.
"Linus?!" Reina shouted.
He then went out of the car and took off his aviator.
Why do life full of surprises? Why do we always encounter unexpected things? Is this how fate works?
"Look how fate plays with us. The owner of the damn car was your boyfriend?"
"Boyfriend?" I blurted in shock.
Linus waved his hand to me and put his hands inside his pocket which makes him cooler. Damn the garter of my underwear, seems it loosen.
"You are the owner of it?" Reina asked as we went closer and pointed at the car, then crossed her arms.
Linus nodded.
Reina looked at my side which make me clear my throat. "I thought we're going to teach this a lesson?"
"Hmmm… W-We—"
"Never mind." She then looked at Linus. "Be thankful that you're her boyfriend. If not, I may punch you straight on your face—"
I grabbed her away and dragged her towards the dorm. "He's a fighter, for your information. You're just lifting your hand and he already knocked you down. And he's not my boyfriend," I said.
She laughed like an insane woman. "Oh, Becca. You can't fool me. I've been there, done that. All of it."
"But he's not my—"
She raised her right hand, stopping me. "Becca, where were you last night? After we climb up to bed—ah after I lay in my bed?"
I look in a different direction. "I sleep early?" I bite my lower lip as I slowly shifted in her direction.
"Really?" she crossed arms.
I heaved a deep sigh and nodded.
"Bullshit! I followed you last night, Becca, and I saw you with my very own eyes that you meet Linus under that tree. And now you're denying it? You know if you're denying him, it means that you don't love him, and you know what's that mean on their part? It seems like you're stepping on their ago that you make them unworthy—"
"Why do you have so many things to tell? Okay. Fine. He's, my boyfriend. Are you happy now? And it's not because I'm hiding and keep on denying it, doesn't mean that I don't love him. I'm just protecting my reputation—his reputation. You know where I came from, you know where he came from. He's famous while I'm just nobody. What will be those rich people's predicaments when they will know about it?" I asked, my heart is pounding fast as I let out those words.
She didn't reply.
"They will accuse me as a gold digger! That we're not meant for each other. You know that this was my first time being in this situation and now you're telling me that I will not hide it?"
"I didn't say that you will hide—"
"But it was just the same, Rey. The thought was just the same. Get your things and get down," I said as I grab my backpack and went down.
"Hey, is there something wrong?" Linus asked as I went closer to his auto. He opened the passenger seat, and I went in. He is not closing the door yet; he leaned on it and look at me. "Did you fight with your cousin?"
"She knows about us."
"Then what's wrong with that? let her. She's your cousin."
I just nodded to shorten the conversation. I don't want to ruin the mood. He then closes the door and walks to the other side.
"Hey, Reina, hop in," he said. I looked at Reina. Our eyes met and she heaved a deep sigh. In my peripheral vision, Linus pushes a square button and the door on the backseat opens upward. It amazed me, but what do I expect, he's rich.
"Hey, Becca," Reina called me. "Are you going to tell auntie about it?" she asked.
I just nodded.
"Are you sure?" she asked again.
"I can't lie to them." I looked at Linus and he smiled at me. "Let's go," I said and put my seatbelt on.
I won't lie to my parents. Generally, they are my parents, and they have more life experience than I am, as a new adult. And I was never great at lying to them. Telling the truth to them is mainly for their trust. Having their trust will help my relationship with them. They will understand it I know they will give me lots of advice. Well, I hope they will accept it.
