CHAPTER 40
BLAIKE IVERSON'S POINT OF VIEW
"Mom..." I called her with my trembling voice.
My heart was racing like crazy. It was beating faster and faster than I thought, it feels like it wants to get out of my chest. I could hear my heart racing.
My hands were trembling as I was holding my car door. The keys slip into my trembling hands, and I didn't even realize it.
My heart started to beat faster when she looked at me...
Her forehead furrowed when she looked in my direction. I can see some tears building in her eyes. Suddenly the things she was carrying slipped into her hand, without her realizing it.
The words she said next makes my whole world shatter into a million pieces.
"Blaike..." She called out my name. "My son!" She blurted out.
Without thinking another thought I rushed and hugged her tightly. As tightly as I can to hug her.
I missed hugging my Mom...
My Dad told me that my mother passed away when I was just five years old. And ever since, I was visiting my Mom's gravestone with her name engraved on it.
Did my Dad lie to me all along?
But why?
Why did Dad keep a secret that my Mom was still alive?
Why didn't my Dad tell me?
How did this happen?
How my Mom was still alive and well?
Is this all true or just a beautiful nightmare?
What was happening?
I am confused...
There were a lot of questions keep pooping on my mind. There are a lot of questions that would be wanted some answer. But only my Dad could know the answers, so I needed to confront him.
But why did he hide all of this from me?
I stopped in my tracks and began to realize.
What if it was all planned by Mr. Walson's men?
Did they already know?
"Stop!" I shouted at the woman who looked exactly like my Mom.
I pushed her away.
"Is there any problem my son?" She calmly asked me.
"Who exactly are you?" I asked her gathering all my strength.
If she was my mother, she would still have the heart shape necklaces where our family picture was in there. And there is one password only the three of us know.
"Don't you remember me my little butterfly?" She asked me in a sad voice.
Wai-t! That nickname was only called by me, by my mother.
My Little Butterfly...
She gets something in her pocket. It was a heart shape necklace. And when she opened it I was shocked it was a picture of us three together, me, her and my father.
She was...
It was my mother...
"Mom..." I called her and hugged her tightly.
I let myself cry on her shoulders.
Tears started forming inside of my eyes. Warm tears started to fall from my eyes one by one. I can feel each one of them touching my skin. I let my tears fall from my eyes until I can't shed no more. Tears flow from my cheeks, down to my Mom's shirt.
"Mom, " I said between my sobs.
"It is okay! Cry all you want. I am here now, and I am not going anywhere, leaving you again, " she stated as she patted my back making me calm down.
I closed my eyes and felt the warmth of my mother's hug. I haven't felt it for years, since I thought I had no mother all these years.
Now there are still a lot of questions bothering me...
Why did my Dad hide my mother away from me?
Why did he lie by saying my mother was dead?
Why did he hide that my mother was still alive?
All these years, where is my mother lived?
What happened to my Mom?
What is going on?
Why did my Mom try to find me and reunited with me and my father?
There are a lot of questions that keep popping inside of my head. It would keep bothering me until I found some answer.
But I would just hug my mother for now...
And I would be asked her a lot of questions later...
I let off her hug and she instructed me to follow her car. And then we would talk at her house.
I started my car engine, then drove and followed her car until we reached her house.
Her home was not as big as I was used to. It is just small but, it could fit three families.
I got out of my car and followed my mother inside of her own house. I was suddenly starstruck by what I saw inside. Her house was small outside, but the inside was gorgeous.
It felt like you were in the '90s or '80s. Because of the wooden wallpaper inside, also the wooden sofa that you could sit on. Everything was aesthetic that could make you feel at home.
"Is there where you like all along Mom?" I asked her immediately as I sat down on her wooden chair.
"Yes! Ever since" she replied.
She gets some juice and cookies and put them on the table in front of me. I grabbed one cookie and took a bite of it.
"What happened?" I immediately asked her.
The smile on her face suddenly faded away. She looked sad, that is why she looked in a different direction so we could not have any eye contact.
"Mom..." I called her.
"Do you want to know?" She asked me, as one of the tears fall from her eyes that she immediately wipe down.
"Yes!" I replied and nodded.
"I was terminally ill at that time. Your father was fired from her job as a gardener for a rich family. Her brother offered her some work in the underground society. His brother faked my death so that your father could do his job well. I didn't say anything and just agreed on that, even if it was cause leaving you and your father. His brother covered all my hospital bills. And until now I was leaving in here alone, " my mom explained.
I looked at her sad eyes...
She seems to regret her decision to leave us.
But I was glad she was still alive now. Because if she did not agree with that. I would not experience these riches and do not know how to defend myself well. My mom would be probably dead by now because we didn't have enough money for her medication.
"So that means Dad didn't know that you were still alive?" I asked her.
She shakes her head and said. "No, "
That means my father did not lie to me all along. We both know that my Mom is dead. My father did not hide my mother from me.
I get the point of my uncle, why she faked my mother's death. It is because she wants my Dad to overcome all his problems and struggle. Even I grow up without my Mom on my side. I am happy to know that she was still alive.
But where is my uncle now?
"Where is my uncle now? Mom?" I asked her.
I was just curious because I didn't know all along my father had a brother.
"He died ten years ago. That is why your father took over the control of the underground society, " she answered.
Did he die?
Wai-t! What?
My uncle died...
"Why did he die?" I asked my Mom.
"Your uncle had stage 3 cancer that had no cure. After a year he helped me with my treatment, and he found out that he had stage 3 cancer. That is why he spends his last days on vacations and everything, " mom explained to me.
Now I realize even you had so much money. When death comes for you, even how much money you would give to death, it could not cure you or let you live a long life. Money is nothing compared to money.
"That is why " I replied as I listened to my mom.
"Can we eat for a while as we chatted?" My mom asked me.
I nodded and began to eat.
I and my Mom chatted for hours. I just listen carefully to everything she said.
ROD AZRAEL'S POINT OF VIEW
The sky was blue as the ocean. The sun was as bright as the sun. The surroundings were as green as ever. The birds were flying freely in the sky. Some birds were chipping on the tree.
The warm air blows through my skin. Every touch of the wind makes my skin shiver. Since it was a little cold in here, on the beach.
The water of the ocean was as cold as the sky. Every splash of the waves echoed in the whole place.
I didn't know what to do. I just sat down near the beach. To look at's beautiful view.
I didn't see Ayeisha around the house lately. Maybe because she was doing something important. She told me she would gonna move out soon as possible.
I want to lay down on the sand, but I can't since my shirt is white. And I didn't wanna make it dirty.
I just closed my eyes and felt the warm breeze passing on my bare skin. As I heard every splash of the ocean, that made me self calm down.
After a few minutes of staying in the ocean. I decided to go home and eat.
When I stand up, I caught up with a familiar figure holding hands with someone.
My hands were shaking, my hands were trembling.
The person I loved the most was someone else.
Is that why I didn't see you often at home?
"Ayeisha..."
