CHAPTER FORTY-THREE: I'M READY
ETHAN'S POV
I never imagined the day would come when Rose would rest quietly in my arms. She is too independent and brash to submit to my grip in this way. I came to the conclusion at one time that she would eventually leave me and never look back. However, that was before I made the decision to keep her.
When I told her to accompany me, I wasn't kidding. Although it was uttered in the heat of the moment, I couldn't have made a wiser choice.
Rose will accompany me.
She will be by my side when we move somewhere far from here once this is finished. I will transport her to the spot she adores, far from the horror. In comparison to the injury she will sustain after I'm finished, my chest wound is nothing. While she is changing my bandage, she is also updating me on my most recent misstep. She has been doing that for the previous few weeks. I make an effort to concentrate on what she is saying rather than the impulse to flip her over and f*ck her.
Despite the fact that we had just gotten out of the shower, I pushed her against the wall until she yelled at me to stop.
I can't stop not when she fixes those eyes on me. I hope I can find a place where I can keep them secure. I hope I could conceal them from them so they wouldn't see the monster of who or what I really am. If she finds out, she won't want me dead like the last time I left her without telling her. She's going to shoot me this time with her own hands.
Even if I have to use techniques she won't like, I won't let it happen, even though I deserve it. She finishes applying the bandage and then assists me with buttoning my shirt. In contrast to the clothes, her black manicured nails appear feminine, elegant, and refined, much like the rest of her.
She looks younger, presumably because she's not as vigilant as she is when we're with other people. She is beginning to progressively lower her guard around me.
Although she still fights me whenever she feels like it, I wouldn't say that was a very wise decision on her behalf. It's still better than having her always fight me. Before Rose instructs me to take her to the nearest suitable surface, I love to provoke her and make her blush or wriggle.
She grins as she declares that everything is finished.
"Princess, unless you're bouncing on my d*ck, I wouldn't say it's completely finished."
She gave a sharp gasp.
"Do you ever stop speaking in that way? "
"I do."
"Right, yeah." I genuinely do.
"When, pervert, have you ever?"
"Mrs. Pendleton, when you're riding me."
She averts her gaze. "You speak to me as though you approve,"
I tap my thigh and say, "I will now."
She pauses for an excessive amount of time before shaking her head.
"No, don't forget that we need to go see Kai. "
"How did I miss that?"I murmured.
When we meet him, he looks at her in a way that irritates me. That understates the case. I don't just object to the way he looks at her. I want to put an end to his unhappy life and provoke a diplomatic dispute between the Yakuza and the Bratva whenever his name is brought up.
Hades, the other scumbag, has been pressuring Rai to speak with him about a potential alliance, though. He is aware that Kai and Rai have some sort of understanding, and I don't like that kind of arrangement.
I had absolutely no intention of allowing her to meet him on her own. I must leave, or we must abandon him. I would rather choose option zero, where I should have had Flame snipe him down, than options one and two.
"He cannot," I said.
"He can, yes. You can ride me while you wait. You want to, you know you do."
She looks at me through her thick lashes while pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, exuding a seductiveness that I'm sure she isn't even aware of but still manages to do. She might not have the same inherent charm as her twin sister.
"Finally, okay?"
"If we can accomplish it now, why wait till later?"
When I take her around the waist, she sighs loudly but doesn't try to get away from me. Rose is fixated on me. I initially despised her eyes. I believed them to be overly icy, hard, and impenetrable, but they have now opened up considerably. I could be too addicted to the tranquil and soft side of her.
"Are you aware of how much you've messed up my schedule?"
"Is it a terrible thing, then?"
"Naturally, it is. I have a job to do that has nothing to do just with the brotherhood. I work for a company as an executive manager, where I am responsible for many people's work. I have to answer to the directors and manage the staff. In order to prevent Belle from acting too sheltered, I also need to keep an eye on her internship."
"Why would I when it's the greatest diversion there is? "
"Let's just leave, and then I'll let you do whatever you want when we get back." That has grabbed my interest.
"Whatever I desire?"
'Whatever. You.Want," she declares vehemently.
I squint my eyes.
"Why would I do it when he threatened to kill you on the day of our wedding?"
"Because we desire a partnership with Japan. Sometimes, diplomacy must be practiced."
"You, not I, are the contact. I fail to see the need for mutual cooperation."
"Exactly what is your issue with Min Hao?"
"How does he observe you?"
However, I refrain from saying so, since doing so would diminish who I am as a person. I suppose I'm the bad guy in this story. Her cherished life will be destroyed because of me.
Rose closes the conversation when I remain silent and puts my leather shoes next to my feet.
"Do you want my assistance?"
"At least I can handle that myself."
"Are you certain you don't want my assistance? It'll happen quickly."
"Rose, you're getting married way too quickly."
But the only reason she shot me for her great-uncle was out of remorse. She stayed by my side the entire time because of this. It's thanksgiving. That word is so awful. I don't want her to think well of me. She needs me just as much as I need her presence to survive, so I want her to be with me.
However, that will happen at a separate time and location. One day, she'll cuddle up in my arms, not out of gratitude for my heroic deeds, but rather because she can't stand being without me.
She makes a face and walks away.
I waited until she had exited the room before putting on my shoes, grabbing my phone, and heading to the balcony. Due to the concern for snipers, it is rarely exposed. In many ways, Rose resembled his late boss Nikolai, who was too cautious.
When I call the number on my phone, Night doesn't answer right away.
"What's going on?"
"F*ck you, first of all; I didn't sign up to be among the Irish. Their accent is a nightmare to fake."
"Quit whining. Did the assault succeed? "
'Magically. Because the Russians and the Italians are working together to crush them, they are fearful and somewhat aware that they are doomed."
I sigh, "As they should," in my head.
"Kaine," The sound of that name makes my fist.
"Kaine Pzbatch".
There is absolutely no way that I could ever forget that.
"And what specifically does he intend to do?"
"Seek a cease-fire? Maybe a woman? How would I know, you ask? "
"Anyway, it doesn't matter. They attended Uncle Raven's special supper and complained about my wedding. To their credit, the Russians did make an attempt to apprehend us that evening, particularly that bearded man and the man with the spectacles, but we managed to flee."
I fix my attention on the guards posted at each entrance.
"Despite the Russians' claims that they are powerful, they cannot compete with highly skilled killing machines."
"Speaking about those murderous devices, they are awaiting the second installment of their deposit. As soon as they are done with the complete project, I'll send it over."
"Just tell me your name."
There is a pause, but it's on my end, not his. Why the hell am I holding back? After all, this was the main reason I had originally come back to the United States. I have survived because of this.
'Ethan?"
"As long as it's an elite and not Uncle Raven, I don't care who you have to kill from the Russians."
"Why is Uncle Raven not?He would've been my first choice."
"Because they are aware of some of the tales, he gets removed from the list. I joined them in the first place because of my past covert killings of him. When they gave him a false one, they didn't question it because he and Uncle Raven had complete faith in Hades. Hades enjoys having one of the best professional killers in his arsenal, therefore he wants me near by. We share an understanding regarding that. Naturally, he is unaware of my plans to destroy the entire brotherhood.
"However, Uncle Raven ought to have been willing due to his position, which makes it more likely that his death will have a large effect."
I can't do Rose because of the things he said the other day. She will lose her job at the company and everything she has worked for if he passes away. The fraternity is a difficult place for a woman, especially one who is as loud and opinionated as Rose. She will eventually leave her fantasies behind after I whisk her away, so I decide not to kill them.
"Uncle Raven is still required. I'll take advantage of the fact that he now prefers me," I declare.
"So, next?"
"Then stop asking questions and put the plan into action. After all, you know how much I detest f*cking favors and I'm paying you for them."
"Okay, okay. I simply wanted to know whether you had any plans for your blonde wife."
"You do not speak about her in such a manner. Don't bloody mention her at all, in fact."
That's what I want to say, but if I do, Night won't think twice about using my weakness against me in the most heinous way conceivable. Even though I may have him as an ally at the moment, he will eventually turn against me again.
I say in a joking manner, "Rose is nothing. Just leave her behind."
"Which is the best course of action since, if she finds out what you're doing, she'll kill you."
"She definitely would. But I'm still bringing her along. As long as she is at my side, I don't care if she kills me."
"Get your mind into the game, because we're almost there."
"Punk, always has been."
I am ready. I'm taking this revenge.
