Chapter Thirty-Three
Reece walked home with me and waited until I took a bath, I made sure I didn't take too long so he wouldn't be waited for ages. It was now pretty late, so I decide to just change into a warm set of pyjamas. As I walk down the stairs Reece was sat at one of the counters, he had two cups of what looked like hot chocolate in front of him. He also had changed into some new clothes, did he sneak off home without telling me? That reminds me, I need to ask where he lives so I can visit him.
"I bet you're feeling so much better, I made some hot chocolate don't worry, I asked Cody's permission beforehand" he smiles handing me the warm drink, I smile joining him at the counter.
No one speaks for awhile, I was still getting used to living here with Cody but now, I'm having to get used to Reece being here and who he is. It doesn't change anything between us but it's just sad that he hasn't been able to tell me, if he would have before everything that's happened I probably wouldn't have believe him. Just imagine having to hide something like that, I wonder if he's ever nearly told me during the years.
"Your dad wouldn't have meant what he said back there" he says breaking the silence, I look up sending him a little smile but look back down at the counter "well for Justin, he's just all kind of crazy now, he's let the little power he's being given get to his head" he says taking a sip from his drink, it seems like the towns been through a lot since I've been away.
"I know my dad gave him some power just before I left, why has he dressed in all those suits and now carries a gun?" I ask which was a question I tried to ask back at town, but the rude police officers got in the way.
"The night you left, your dad, Justin and I were having a talk, your dad was saying that things were getting out of hand and he needed to put his foot down. Apparently, you leaving was because you had enough with all the problems going on in town, so he was sick of it. He told us he wanted Justin to be his right hand man and he wanted me to help run the training camp I told you about, Justin took that to the extreme and rocked up in a suit!" He exclaims shaking his head as he went, we all knew Justin liked when my dad asked him to help when I was there, I didn't know he fed off the power.
"I knew things were getting bad when I left, I didn't know they'd take a turn like that! Maybe if I would have stayed I could have stopped it" I sigh looking down at the drink in front of me, that feeling had been going around my head since I found out all the bad stuff that's happened there, now hearing all this I couldn't deny the fact.
"No Erika, there was nothing you could have done to stop it, it all started going downhill when your dad found out your mums still alive" he explains which I knew was kind of true, something changed in my dad that day, he wouldn't have tried to manipulate me using mum if he was the same "oh side note, I think you were so badass standing up to your dad back there, I will help you anyway I can to track down your mother. I have more access to the pack members information than Scott, it'll be quicker and easier if I help" he says sitting back in his chair, I take a look at him confused than my eyes go wide.
"You're Cody's Gamma?!" I ask so shocked at what I was hearing, so he's not just a werewolf but one of high status!
"I knew the research would come in handy, yes I'm the Gamma of this pack which means we're still neighbours" he smiles pointing to the wall but I think he meant the direction of his house "I'm sorry I never told you about who I am, my family and I were sent to the town by Cody's father to get information. They didn't want you humans to find out about us, we were only supposed to be there a few years but I begged not to leave" he smiles looking towards me with a smile, I'm glad he didn't leave or we wouldn't have become like brother and sister.
"There were so many times I wanted to tell you and just get it over with, but I knew how big of a life changer that would be for you and I didn't want to loose you" he sighs it was his turn to look down at the counter, I reach over taking his hand with a smile.
"You don't have to be sorry Reece, I one hundred percent understand why you couldn't tell me. Nothing is ever gonna change between us, you're stuck with me for life" I smile giving his hand a little squeeze, this makes a huge smile fill his lips as I said that.
Before we could speak anymore the door begins to knock, I give Reece a confused look than turn to look at the door. I know I sound so crazy being confused on why the front door is knocking, but that has never happened since I've been here. If someone needs to get ahold of Cody, they mind-link him. If they were to do that now, they'd find out that Cody wasn't home and wouldn't turn up at the house. This could only mean one thing, the person must be at the house to see me, who would want to see me this late at night?
"I've just asked Cody, he wasn't expecting anyone so he's kind of alarmed that someone is here" Reece tells me as I get up from the counter and walk towards the door "that's the last thing he'll want you do to" he says sprinting over to me taking my arm.
"The person there can't have a sinister plan against me or they wouldn't have knocked, anyway I have the packs Gamma to protect me don't I?" I ask all sweetly as the door knocks again, Reece looks at the door than me with a sigh.
He reluctantly nods his head letting me walk over to the door, don't get me wrong he was literally glued to my side the whole way. Once I open the door, a young girl was nervously stood there playing with her hands. As I said before it was way late so it worried me why she would be out here alone, especially with all that's happening right now.
"Katy, you know you're not allowed within the restricted area without permission, you're not one to break the rules though so what's up?" Reece asks from behind me, it was weird to me that he had such a role as he does.
"I-I'm sorry, I just needed to talk to the Luna, but it's nothing I'm sorry" she stutters out before turning and walking away, wait don't leave I'm intrigued!
"Don't even think about doing what I know you're thinking about doing" Reece once again says from behind me, aww he knows me so well.
"But you also know that I'm gonna do it away" I say before running out the house and down the steps, I hear him say my name annoyed behind me but I was already out the gate.
I can be quick when I wanna be, which isn't very often. I run down the path a little where I clock the nervous girl walking away, I call after her which makes her jump and turn to look at me.
"Katy isn't it, you didn't have to walk away I would have still listened" I say finally catching up with her, she mumbles how it wasn't important but I give her a look "if it wasn't important you wouldn't have walked all this way, in the dark to a restricted area would you?" I smile softly at her, I didn't want to her to think she was in any kind of trouble, I didn't really care that she went passed the restricted area if I'm being honest.
"Okay it is something, but I didn't know if I should tell you or not, but if I don't I'll waste your time" she stumbles across her words, I for one hope she does tells me because she is just making my curiosity grow by the second "it's about your friend, the one that lives where you used to live, the one with the suit and the gun" she says having to give me more clues because at first I didn't know who she was trying to say, but once she said suit I knew straight away.
"Justin" I say confirming I knew who she was talking about, she nods but starts to get all nervous again "has he done something I need to know about?" I ask having to work quite hard to get the conversation going, I hope it's not something boring I didn't need to know about.
She nods her head and proceeds to tell me a story, some long lost questions were answered but it broke my heart at the same time.
