Chapter Thirty-One

The walk back over to the border was silent, I think both of us are trying to come to terms with what we just saw. I'm also trying to get my head around all the new information Reece just told me about my dad and Justin, I had no idea they were that out of control. I mean when I was there a few times my dad would take it too far, I would always pull my dad up about it and he'd stop immediately. Is that what Reece meant when he said I'd be the first to get punished? If I saw something I didn't like I wouldn't hesitate pulling my dad up about it, thankfully I wasn't there. I take a look over to Reece who's face was blank, I send him a confused look for a second. That's the same face Cody and Scott pull when they're mind-linking people, wait could Reece be? No Erika that's stupid, you've known Reece your entire life so you'd know if he was a werewolf or not. Another strong gust takes me by surprise, I wasn't gonna lie and say I wasn't freezing because I was. As we reach the town it's chaos, the police are running around everywhere still looking for Martha while the residents are panicking! Some people were starting to get angry that the police were looking through their stuff and throwing it, pretty justifiable reason to get annoyed I think. One man had enough and closes his front door on the police officer, which I didn't think would be a big deal. "You've broken the rules, any police officer is allowed on your premises whenever!" The dude shouts and literally kicks in the man's door, he and a bunch of other officers storm his house. Screams and cries immediately erupt from the house, in seconds the man that closed the door starts to be dragged out his house by the police. They throw him into the ground and start beating him, what the heck?! "Hey you can't do that!" I shout about to run over to stop them from beating the poor man, but Reece bear hugs me pulling me away. "You can't step in Erika, you don't understand the police don't care about the safety of us anymore" he tells me while pulling me away from the scene, what so no one is gonna step in and help the poor guy?! After a few minutes I stop resisting and just walk beside Reece, he explained a few more of the stuff that's been happening in town. The police have basically took over, if they see you doing something they don't like they arrest you, but they don't put you in prison, oh no, you basically get sent to this place and "trained" to be a police officer. According to Reece, there's no training going on, just beatings until you listen and start acting like they are. My dad and Justin actually explained what was happening to Reece and wanted him to join, Reece told them where they can stick it and ran off. The first time he's seen them since was when he jumped out the tree's, like a ninja might I add. Let's all remember I've only been gone a few days, I must have been the glue that was holding the town together, not to toot my own horn or anything though. After the long walk back we finally reach the border, everyone was still stood where they were even we left. It's like they were frozen in time while we were gone, I bet this has been so intense and awkward the entire. "We couldn't find her" I tell Scott as I get closer, he sighs walking away for a second to collect himself. "Why are you both so wet?" My dad asks looking over at us, I just stare him out for a second just trying to wrap my head around what Reece just told me, he doesn't look like the monster Reece is making him out to be "why don't you come home quickly to grab some warm clothes?" He asks all nicely trying to come towards me but I move away, I wasn't gonna fall victim to all the horrible things he's been doing to people. "You can just back off, how do I know I won't end up like the person in the lake?" I ask giving him another look of disgust, Justin and my dad take a worried look at each other for a second "I really was the only thing stopping you going all evil dictator wasn't I? I don't even know who you are anymore" I sigh my eyes drifting to Justin, he didn't even look like the person I once knew anymore. "I don't know what lies Reece has been telling you-" my dad tries to say but I cut him off, now I knew what he was trying to do? He's playing the blame game. "Reece didn't have to tell me anything, I saw first hand how you people are treating the people you're supposed to protect! You've allowed the power to go to your head and now you're out of control! You're all pretending to be something you're not and are hurting or killing innocent people who don't agree with the way you want to do things!" I shout loosing my temper with the horrible men in front of me, my dad shakes his head for a second looking down at the floor, which gives Justin the opportunity to talk. "We're protecting those back in town from the likes of you! We all thought you had our back Erika but you've moved sides, you've allowed those monsters to brainwash you, if you were still in town you'd agree with how we're doing things" he says trying to circle back and make me feel bad, but I had nothing to feel bad about. "The only monsters I see are the two men stood in front of me now, you obviously didn't know me very well because I would never agree to you doing all this, that is why you waited until I went over to their pack" I said which I could tell was annoying Justin, some home truths are being said right now "I mean look at you Justin, who do you think you are right now, are you playing some kind of part? You're never gonna be this dashing police officer, you're just a sorry excuse for a man with anger issues, you call them monsters, someone needs to look in the mirror don't you think?" I ask sweetly looking him up and down, from across the border I hear Cody chuckling and clapping. This once again annoys Justin that he was being laughed at, he looks at me with a deadly look before angrily striding over to me. Before he could even get, Reece jumps in front of me looking at Justin with a deadly look in his eye too. "If you were to even lay a finger on her, I swear I will rip you apart" he says deeply, kind of in the same way Cody and all the other wolves speak when they're angry, he couldn't be can he? "Now it's my turn to laugh, do you really believe you'd be able to rip me apart?" Justin asks with a laugh, I don't know I reckon Reece would do some damage if he was hella angry. "We've been showing the different side to you recently, I can assure you my other side is much worse than yours, that side of me will come out in a second if you ever were to raise your hand at Erika, that's something you don't want to happen" Reece once again growls out looking Justin dead in the eyes, all the signs are pointing to Reece being one thing, I'm not the only person seeing it right? "Go back over the border Erika, I know you'll be safe there" Reece tells me without turning around, I look over the border at Cody who smiles holding his hand out. I take a look at my dad and Justin before walking over to the border, I take Cody's hand who gently pulls me over so I was stood beside him. He turns taking a blanket from one of the guards wrapping it around me, I was freezing but this blanket was helping me a lot. "We always said Martha was a traitor but so are you Erika! It appears Reece is going down the same path" Justin says evilly looking at Reece who was still standing up to him, I was intimidated and I wasn't even there anymore. "There is something none of you know and if you did, it would change your whole perspective of me and you'll see that Martha and Erika, are no where near your biggest problem" Reece tells them moving away from Justin and getting closer to the border, is he gonna say what I think he's gonna say?! "When the raid happened, that wasn't the first time you people have been around a werewolf, you all thought it was but you were mistaken" Reece says his hands now in his pockets, he's definitely gonna say what I think she's gonna say! "I'm a werewolf"
