Chapter Forty-Four

"Ethan?" I ask confused that he was even ringing me, he's rang me a few times since we've found mum again but it's always been at night, just in case our dad finds out. "Luna, you need to come to the border immediately, your brothers been attacked" one of the border guards says, this immediately makes my heart sink and tears well up in my eyes. I hang up the phone and don't even stop to tell the others what happened, I just need to get to Ethan immediately. As I bolt out the door I hear my mum shouting my name, but I didn't and couldn't stop. I zip passed a pack member after pack member. Some would ask if I'm okay but I couldn't answer, all I could think about was my brother. I soon arrive at that border where I see him, Ethan was laying on the floor with the border guard over him. I waste no time running over and knelling beside him, his eyes were open but he's face was so beaten up. "Ethan, it's okay I'm here" I say grabbing hold of his hand, I knew how badly he needed a doctor "please get a doctor or someone" I plead over to the border guard who spoke on the phone, he nods his face going blank so he was mind-linking. "E-Erika" Ethan stutters out making me whip my head to look at him, I place my head under his head so he could see me "I'm sorry" he says his eyes beginning to close, out of the corner of my eye I see my mum run over but stop. "No Ethan, keep your eyes open" I plead with him now but his eyes soon drop close "no, please can you get them to hurry!" I cry over to the same guard behind me, I couldn't loose him! "Ethan please wake up" I cry shaking him but he wasn't waking up. "The doctors are minutes away Luna, it won't be long" the border guard tells me while I still try to wake Ethan up "do you want me to get the Alpha?" He asks which yes I wanted Cody here more than anything, but he had to work. "No, he has a really important meeting for the pack, once that's over I'll tell him, but thank you" I smile to the border guard tears still running down my face, as soon as I said that doctors start to run over. They tell me I need to get back as they start to work on him, I stand back slightly with my hands on my knees sobbing. I needed Ethan to be okay, things were finally gonna start to get better so he needed to be there. We hadn't gone through the last ten years just for him to leave now, I couldn't let him leave me now. I look up slightly where I spot my mum again, she was also weeping staring over at Ethan but turns to look at me. Without thinking, I run over to her wrapping my arms around her immediately, her arms are wrapped around me tightly. Both of us were just crying holding on to each other. I pace up and down the hospital room, as I'm Luna the doctors put us in our own private waiting room. I hadn't stop walking around this room since we entered, which feels like it's been days but in reality, it's been just over two hours. As soon as we arrived here, Ethan was rushed off into surgery. I still don't know what's happened or what injuries he's got yet, but I just needed him to stay strong and pull through. My mum was also here with Raymond by her side, I wish that meeting would hurry up so Cody could be here but I know how important that is. I decided I needed to mind-link Scott, so he could tell Cody when the meeting finished. "Scott, don't tell Cody I'm mind-linking you so pretend it's Martha. When the meetings finished could you tell Cody I'm at the hospital, Ethan got attacked and is in surgery now. I would have told him or Reece but I knew they'd both run over here right now, thank you" I mind-link him while taking a seat on one of the chairs, for the first time this whole wait, my legs were starting to get tired. "Of course I tell him, thank you for telling Cody to keep me as Beta" Scott mind-links back soon after, I smile telling him it was fine before I bring my knees up on the chair hugging them, still awaiting any news. Even more hours pass, now it definitely feels like we've been here forever. It was now pitch black outside, the only lights you could see was one street lamp. Raymond left for awhile but came back with some stuff like food, he offered me some but I couldn't eat. I sigh placing my head on the wall behind me, my mum keeps saying that no news is good news, but why would the surgery take this long?! I turn my head to look out the window when the door opens, I whip my head back around to see it was Cody stood in the doorway. I get up out my seat and run into his open arms, this is one hug I definitely need. "I'm here now, you should have told me I would have left that meeting hours ago" he tells me holding me tightly but I shake my head, I did think of that many times. "I couldn't, that meeting is so important, I've been okay" I smile looking up at him as I spoke "and anyway, if I would have pulled you out early you would have had to have the meeting another time, I saved you from another boring meeting" I laugh which does make him chuckle a little, I pull away a little but keep my arm around him. My mum pulled something out of her bag before slowly walking over, while Raymond stayed behind smiling. "I've been thinking about what you said and you're right" she says looking at me, well I haven't said much in hours and I can't really remember what I said before Ethan, so I had no clue what she was talking about "this is for you" she says handing me over a document, I send her a confused look until I look down at what it was. "The town is yours, stop him Erika" she says giving my hand a little squeeze before turning around, I was completely shocked at what just happened. Yes I know I told her that's what I wanted her to do, but I didn't think she'd actually do it or this fast. Could all the fighting with the town finally be over? Well after we work out a way to get me in there and take control. I look up at Cody who was sending me a smile. "Thank you mum" I smile looking up at her, she smiles while Raymond places his arm around her shoulders "maybe once we take control of the town again, Ethan can meet his two brothers" I smile looking over at Raymond as I spoke, he also sends me a smile as the door opens. This time it was a doctor that walks in, I immediately look away and turn my full attention to the man stood in front of me. "Your brother was in pretty bad shape, he had multiple internal bleeding from being savagely beaten. It will be a long road but he's going to make a full recovery" he smiles which not gonna lie and that moment I could have kissed him, Cody tenses giving me a look but I just roll my eyes. "Thank you so much" I say extremely grateful for heat he did, he smiles bowing his head before leaving telling us we can see Ethan soon. "I knew he'd be fine, it takes a lot to bring you Parker's down" Cody smiles which does make me laugh a little, that is true we are a different breed "now while we wait to see him, we better come up with a plan to take control of your town" he smiles holding up the document, I laugh looking over at my mum who was just smiling.
