Chapter Thirty-Nine

"Tristan please listen to me, you don't have to do this!" I plead with him while fighting him off, I knew if he managed to get me in the water who knows what he'll do. "We could have been so good Erika!" He shouts still fighting against me trying his hardest to pull me in the water with him, out of the corner of my eye I spot someone walking over. Martha appears out of the bushes with her arms crossed, at first a huge relief takes over my senses. In my mind I thought she would run over and help but she didn't, she stood there with a smile on her face. "That's it Tristan, get rid of her then you and me can live the life of our dreams" she laughs which makes my eyes just go wide, she was planning this with him! "No Tristan please, ignore her please" I plead as I hear my name being called in the distance, please hurry up guys I can't hold back forever. "Hurry Tristan!" Martha screams at him which does make him push me closer to the edge, maybe they won't get here in time which means, I'm gonna have to sort this out myself. "No Tristan listen to me, we've been dating for coming up two years now. Beside this last few weeks it's been great right, it's felt like we were destined to be together" I say still fighting so hard but I could tell he was listening to me, I just had to keep going "I don't know what she's put in your head but it's all wrong, remember when we first met, Reece and I walked into the cafe and I managed to fall over. Before I hit the floor you had caught me in your arms, from that moment on we knew it was meant to be us" I say pushing hard against him and it was now me that was moving us, he was just allowing me. "No Tristan, remember the plan" Martha says trying to get in the middle of what I was doing, oh hell no! "Do you remember what you said when you caught me?" I ask circling back to the day we met again, I needed to drill it in his head that we're meant to be so he doesn't try to kill me. "I'm glad I caught you" he says not pushing me at all anymore, he still had his arms tightly wrapped around me through. I turn my head so I could look at his face, his eyes were glazed over like he was thinking. Eventually he looks down at me locking eyes, I turn my whole body around in his arms and place my hands on both sides of his face. "It's me and you Tristan, it's always gonna be me and you" I say placing my forehead on his, he closes his eyes leaning into me. "I love you Erika" he says his arms moving to hug me and not hold me, as we did this the guys and Sam run over, better late than never guys. "What's going on, we couldn't find you then I heard your shouting Erika" Sam asks out of breath walking over, I look away from Tristan and over to the guys. "Martha and Tristan were plotting to kill me" I say which takes everyone by surprise, Reece runs up, rips me away from Tristan and puts me behind him. Before Tristan could blink, Reece punches him full pelt around the face. Tristan immediately falls to the floor landing in a heap, Reece stands above him as he looks up. "You're lucky I don't make sure you permanently lay there, you're never getting near Erika again" Reece tells me as I begin to sob, Sam immediately pulls me into a hug telling me it's okay. Tristan tries to get up to fight but Reece kicks him in the chest, which sends me flying back down onto the floor. He starts coughing and spurring all over the place, while Martha stood there quite shell shocked. I didn't even have any words to say to her at this point. "E-Erika please listen to me, I-I didn't want to do any of this, Martha kept saying how you didn't love me anymore" Tristan starts to say trying to pull himself back up, but Reece is quick to kick him back down "she told me she was in love with me, I kept saying I didn't want anyone but you but she wouldn't listen! That's why we need to stick together okay!" He shouts but I shake my head finally looking in his eyes. "You just tried to kill mw Tristan, it's over!" I shout back still crying in fear, Reece turns wrapping me in a hug while I cried. "No no no, it can't be over Erika I need you, you said it yourself it's always gonna be me and you" he says raising to his feet finally but I just bury my face in Reece's chest, Reece does tell him where to stick it though. "It doesn't matter Tristan, we can leave now and never look back, come on" Martha says which does make me look up, she was really going to get me killed over some guy?! "No! You caused this, you're gonna pay!" Tristan replies before running and tackling Martha into the water, they go under and don't resurface straight away. Everyone on the bank looks at each other frozen from fear, Jacob goes to move forward but Reece holds his arm up stopping him. As on cue, they both resurface fighting, Martha attempts to swim back to the bank but she's dragged back by Tristan who pushing her under the water. "Is no one gonna help her?" Sam asks looking between us all, I mean yeah I wanted to help her but she was planning to do the same to me, part of me is telling me to go help her but the other part is saying the opposite. "She just tried to kill Erika, she needs to know how it feels" Reece says moving to stand in front of all of us, I move forward but Reece does the same thing he does to Jacob "she's paying Erika, she nearly took you away from us" Reece says holding my arms stopping me from running towards the river, I turn my head looking at Martha and Tristan struggling. Suddenly, out of the trees run a bunch of police officers, Reece pulls me back as two of them dive into the river to help Martha. My dad was next to run out of the trees and over to us, I run over where he wraps his arms around me. "I'm so glad we got here in time, I can't loose you like I lost your mother" he tells me holding me tightly in his arms, wait how does he actually know what happened and that we were here? "I rang him when we found you" Jacob says moving forward answering my question before I asked it, I just send him a smile thanking him as Tristan and Martha are pulled out the water. Martha was coughing uncontrollably, she nearly fell to the floor but the officer was holding her up. Tristan was fighting against the officer, he was trying to escape to gun for Martha. My dad walks over letting Reece take me in his arms, I didn't fight though I was still so scared. "I trusted you to look after my daughter, but you go along and start a plan to kill her with your side piece!" my dad shouts standing in front of Tristan, who was still fighting against the officer. "You don't understand sir, that evil woman tricked me to make me think that I hated Erika! I don't sir, I love her that's why you need to let me go so we can live together like we're meant to" he rambles talking in his crazy way again, my dad just gives him a look telling the officers to take him away. "No! Erika tell them to stop, tell them we're meant to be together, Erika!" Tristan screams as four officers have to fight to get him away, I look away turning back to Martha who had finally stopped coughing. "And for you, you're a disgraceful human being. You knew Tristan had been struggling with his mental health, so you got into his mind and was plotting to kill my daughter. I'm gonna make sure you go down for years" my dad says getting into Martha's face, Martha looked so shocked that it was even happening. "He just tried to kill me and you're coming at me!" She screams now fighting against the officer, these guys can't take a break with all the fighting. "We didn't see any of that, all we saw was you trying to kill my daughter. It sucks when a plan backfires doesn't it?" My dad asks looking at her with a smile "take her away" he tells the officer who begins to drag her away kicking and screaming. I like it when this type of plan backfires.
