After Garsam sent Rich to find accommodation for the others and ensure they're not attacked, she walked into the room her father was in. The guards did not enter with her. The room was spacious and luxuriously decorated; it was obvious Clearwater wanted to please her father. She heard the soft sound of a woman's giggle, and her eyes widened. She hurried to her father's side. Her father was seated on a wide chair, a woman was curled up at his side, her dark hair draped over her face.
Garsam stared at her intently, her heart thumping. Her lips moved, and she nearly called out, "Mom." But when the woman turned, revealing her face, Garsam's illusion was shattered. That was not her mother. She sneered in her mind. Being with those people these few days must have made her silly. Why would her father bring her mother anywhere?
The Alpha King and his consort finally noticed her presence. Her father eyed her with a hint of displeasure. "Have you forgotten your manners?"
Immediately, Garsam knelt on one knee, her head bowed. "Greetings Alpha King..."
"And?" Her father sneered. He turned and gave his escort a soft kiss on her neck. She purred and drew him closer with a giggle. Although Garsam couldn't see them, she could guess what was going on.
"Greetings Favoured Consort," Garsam added. She had learned not to resist; besides, it was just a nonexistent title the woman used to glorify the fact that she was nothing but a mistress.
"Rise."
Garsam stood up; her eyes met the woman's. The woman smirked and picked up a grape. She licked it before popping it into the Alpha King's mouth. Garsam's expression didn't so much as twitch. The woman pouted, annoyed and bored that she didn't get to him.
"Where have you been?" Her father asked.
Garsam recited her rehearsed answer. "The heir of Clearwater Pack and I chased after a strange assassin; it led to being captured by an organization."
The Alpha King chuckled. "And what organization is this that subdued my otherwise powerful son?"
"Unity."
The Alpha King paused just as he was about to feed his escort a grape. He pinched the grape, and it burst, splashing red juice on the escort's face. The woman blinked in surprise, then touched her wet face. Garsam resisted the urge to snort.
The Alpha King didn't seem to notice what he had done. He picked up a napkin and wiped his hand.
"Well, I see we have to celebrate your safe return, a small feast in your honor, have Rich prepare it quickly."
Garsam bowed outside the room till the door was shut and they could see her no more.
'You should have let me tear the conniving bitch apart,' Scar hissed in her head.
Garsam sighed; she would have liked that very much, but for now, she didn't dare harm a hair on the woman's head.
Rich had already returned.
"They are settled in, your highness," the butler droned.
"Good, the king wants a small celebratory feast in my honor. I'll trouble you to get it prepared and, of course, inform Alpha Kain."
"Yes, your highness."
Later that night in a small hall, a large table was set up. Scrumptious food was piled on it, and around it were several smaller tables.
Sue walked in with her minions. They headed for the large table and sat in the middle. Well, Sue sat; her minions stood behind her.
"You haven't found that bitch yet?" Sue hissed. Her face was caked in makeup; if not, her bruises from being beaten by the escort's guards would have been glaring. She had been hit while dealing with Khloe, so she blamed it on her. She would not have even come, but she heard that the Princely Heir had returned and that the feast was in his honor.
"No one has seen her since," one of the girls replied.
Sue gritted her teeth. "That bitch better hide good; if I find her, she will wish she was dead."
Slowly, people began filing in, and eventually, the hall was full.
Aria's group entered the hall led by Garsam. Garsam led them to the large table. Since the head seats were reserved for the Royal family and the next few ones were for the remaining Alphas and the Council elders, they could only sit from the middle. When they got there, they found Sue already seated. Sue had noticed Garsam walked in; she stood up with her eyes lowered and her voice soft. "Princely Heir, I welcome you; I had been worried, but it's good you're safe."
Garsam looked her head to toe. "Who are you?"
Sue raised her head sharply. "Wha..." She saw the people behind him, and she stepped back in shock.
"You!" Her eyes blazed fire; if she could, she would burn Aria to a crisp.
After finding out that Garsam was the werewolf prince who Aria felt assured, at least they would be safe. But meeting her nemesis so soon, it would be a shame if she didn't anger her half to death. She glanced at Sue. There was mischief in their eyes.
"Yes, it is I," Aria sauntered over to Garsam's side. Garsam turned to her. "You know this girl?"
Aria linked her arm through Garsam's; she leaned against him as she replied. "Hmm, I don't believe so; she does look eerily familiar, you know like one of those dolls uses in horror movies..."
Behind her Sue snickered. "The bride of Chucky?"
Aria nodded like a hen pecking rice. "Spot on, sis."
Sue's eyes turned red, and her claws grew out; it wasn't so much Aria and her sister's insults that infuriated her, but the fact that Aria was clinging to Garsam. What gave this human trash the right to touch the Princely Heir!
The hall door opened, and the Alpha King walked in. His oppressing aura forced Sue's claws back in. Blood dripped from her fingers. She quickly hid it behind her as everyone bowed in greeting.
The Alpha King sat at the head table, his escort beside him. Everyone sat as well; Garsam made Sue shift to the end of the table to make room for Aria and her group. The Alpha King looked at an empty seat.
"Where is Nath?" He asked.
Rich stepped close with a bow. "Your Majesty, I'm afraid I must inform you that Alpha Nath is unable to attend the feast this evening due to an illness. He apologizes for the inconvenience."
"That is quite alright; let's begin."
Bang. The hall's door opened loudly. Logan walked in. He smiled apologetically.
"I just returned from a small trip, and father informed me that Garsam had returned. He sends his regrets and asked me to take his place tonight."
The Alpha King nodded. Garsam spared her friend a smile.
Logan walked towards Alpha Nath's seat, and as he passed Garsam, he whispered. "Where did you go? I was so worried."
"Later," Garsam replied. Logan nodded, sat down, and the feast commenced.
At the end, servers cleared the table, and varieties of desserts were served. Sue squirmed uncomfortably in her seat. When Aria turned to her with a questioning look, she smiled and shook her head. As the meal commenced, Sue could barely sit still. Thankfully, the dessert ended faster than dinner, and the Alpha King seemed in a hurry, so the feast ended too. Sue shot up from her seat like a spring.
Aria questioned. "What's up with you? You've been acting like a cat on a hot tin roof."
"I'm gonna go get some air."
"I'll come with."
"No, sit; I'll be back soon." Sue left before Aria could refuse.
She walked for a few minutes till her body cooled down. She looked around. She had unwittingly walked back to their accommodations. Perhaps she should just go to bed. She walked to their house when she heard a soft voice whisper. "Come."
She looked around in the darkness; there was no one in sight.
"Come." The voice was like a feather tickling her heart.
She followed the voice till she got to a cabin. It was slightly bigger than the rest.
"Enter." The voice purred.
