Revenge
After confirming the body, Sinbad returned to the office. He slowly swiveled in his chair, lost in thoughts. What was Khloe doing in The Alpha Nath's boarding? Her body was like a wooden carving, and there was no blood from the gaping hole in her chest. Sinbad was furious, especially after he saw the missing she-wolf's reports on the desk. Why had Alpha Kain gone on a killing spree in the pack?
There was a knock on the door. He groaned; he really should have forced Beta Charl to take Sue along. She refused to leave his office, and when he finally forced her to go, she always returned with some useless file. He really wanted to tell her to go f*** herself, but he still retained his manners.
He pulled a file from the desk and pretended to seriously read it. "Come in."
There was silence on the other side for a minute. Sinbad's serious expression was about to drop when the door pushed open. He recognized the girl that entered. It was Sue, no, not the annoying one, Aria's sister.
"Sue, what are you doing here?" Sinbad called out. He recalled that Lev had not mentioned where she had gone, just that Aria went to get her. He had only been interested in Aria's activities, so he didn't even ask. "Didn't your sister go looking for you?"
He looked behind her. Was Aria back?
Sue stared at him. "You look so much like him; it's infuriating."
Sinbad paused. "Who?"
"Your father; you look just like he did when he was your age."
Sinbad looked at her in bemusement. "And how did you know that; did you meet?" He joked.
"Meet?" She scoffed as she shut the door and walked towards him. "I had a child with him, and he killed her!"
Her figure transformed into a woman he didn't recognize. His eyes narrowed, and he made to stand up but found that he couldn't move.
The sound of screams filtered into the office, a wolf howled in pain. Someone desperately tried to reach him through the pack link, but the connection was broken. Sinbad looked at the woman in shock.
"Hi kid, I'm your wicked stepmother."
"Oh my, don't look so vicious; I won't do anything permanent to you,"
She swept the books and files off the table and sat comfortably.
"At least not until your father gets here, I want him to feel the pain of watching his child die, and not being able to stop it."

Unlike their search for Virgo, returning to Clearwater Pack was fast. Ares pulled out a gateway orb and placed a portal right above Clearwater. The group jumped. They landed together. Somewhere between placing the portal and jumping, Ares had carried Aria. She hugged his neck as the wind whooshed past her ear.
When she opened her eyes, they were by the residential areas. Aria's home was just down the corner. The place was eerily silent. They were aware that an evacuation would be likely to occur but shouldn't some fighters at least still be in the pack?
She motioned to the others, and they headed to her house. They had left Jerry and Lev there; they needed to make sure they were safe. The door was open when they got there. Chunks of wood were missing from the door, and claw marks lined the walls. Aria felt a little sick. She walked in slowly like her feet were made of lead.
Garsam sniffed the air.
"...blood," she muttered.
Turning into the kitchen, a gory sight met her sight. She shut her eyes and immediately turned around shaking. Ares pulled her into a hug; he shielded her. When her tears started to soak his shirt, he moved her into the sitting room and re-entered the kitchen.
"It's not them," he announced coming out of the kitchen.
Aria turned from her crying, revealing a tear-streaked face. "Not them?" Her voice was nasally.
"Yes, some people probably ran in for shelter but couldn't escape."
"So where are they? JERRY! CHIEF!"
There was no answer.
"Calm down love, they'll be fine; if anything Lev is reliable, I'm sure they're safe somewhere but for now, we need to focus on Virgo."
Garsam whistled. "Love? We leave for five minutes and you're getting married, congrats Aria."
Aria rolled her eyes to hide her embarrassment. Ares' words had calmed her down somewhat. She couldn't juggle fearing for Sue's life and Jerry's simultaneously.
Ivy looked between the two; they had been in such a hurry to return that she missed the fact that they were acting more intimate. Little touches and glances here and there. Aria always said she was worried for her sister, guess that didn't stop her from chasing romance.
Ivy felt a stinging emotion. She didn't understand why she felt that way. Was it her half of Ur's emotions reacting? Or was she simply jealous that Ares chose Aria as if validating her station? Aria was the true bearer of Ur's spirit, and she was just a freak accident that occurred.
"Ivy...Ivy!"
Ivy raised her head. "Hmm?"
Garsam chided her. "What are you standing in a daze for let's go, by my calculation our burden will soon end, the result? We will either lose and die or we'll win...and still die."
"But we have to win, for our family and those we love."
Ivy sighed in her heart. Her only family was dead, and she had no one she loved. Her mind flashed with the image of Thaen. She shook it off; he will meet a nice witch and forget her soon enough.
"Stop being so gloomy and come along."
Garsam dragged her off.
As they walked around, they saw even more victims. A group of ferals was bent over a body. The wet sound of biting and chewing sickened Aria; she turned back and heaved.
Ares held her shoulder. "Don't look if you can't let me lead you, close your eyes."
Aria closed her eyes; she felt Ares withdraw his hand and panicked a little, then she heard the sound of fighting and shrill screams. Everything became quiet. She opened her eyes a smidge. Ares blocked her view.
"Let's keep going," he said. He made sure she didn't even accidentally catch sight of the gore.
The number of corpses reduced till they could see no more.
"What is this place?" Aria asked.
"The Alpha's office," Garsam answered.
Ares looked right at the door. "She's inside, and she knows we're here."
