Back
Today was the day of Daisy's trial, I've been kept out of the loop with Daisy due to Preston, so I really wasn't sure how this was going to go. But I had faith in Gray and Josh, at the end of the day we'll know if she can walk free and I can give her a hug, or if she needs to be sent to jail.
It just sucks that the trial is about the attack on me, yet I can't talk and give my side of the story to help her. I know exactly what happened and exactly what she was trying to tell me but for some reason, I'm not allowed to give evidence. Some of these rules I need to follow are just plain weird.
Gray once again, wasn't there when I woke up and left me another note. He wanted to have a quick meeting with Josh and Daisy before, for obvious reason I couldn't join him. I have to meet him outside the courthouse, which I have no idea where it is. Luckily, Erik was to escort me there as Gray doesn't want me to go anywhere alone while my wolf is still M.I.A. I'm hoping I get her back before Preston's trial, that's only 3 days away though! So it's looking highly unlikely.
I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be leading up to his trial, I think as Daisy's is so close and is first, I'm putting all my worry into hers.
Erik comes to pick me up and escorts me to the courtroom, we chatted about Preston and the very minor details we have left to go over. Only tiny things such as, when Cyrus gets released will he go to live at his old house or will we put him in a house we choose? Honestly, I think we should give him a house so that way we can keep him somewhere close, it would be easier to keep an eye on him that way.
As we reach the court I'm surprised that's it's out the castle grounds, not too far though that's why we were able to walk over. People lined the streets just ahead, but before they could spot me Gray walks over. He looked rather nervous which is an emotion he doesn't feel much, he seems to calm down a little when he takes my hand in his. Just ahead from us I see the old officials making their way into the building, they turn their heads in our direction and from the look in their eyes, you could tell they didn't like me. I send them a wink with a smile not caring, they look even more annoyed at me but soon their gaze moves to Gray.
"For their sake, they better stop looking at you in that manner" he growls out towards them, they immediately look to the floor and basically run into the building.
"You two better get in, Daisy can't come here with Clara this close" Erik says from behind us, Gray gives me a look before his face turns neutral, right no emotion.
We start our journey into the courthouse, once the public saw us cheers and questions erupted from around us. Some were about Daisy, most were about Preston and one was about my ring. Once one noticed it and questioned me the rest joined in, we decided to wait to tell the public the news until the trials were over, maybe I should have took the ring off.
"You will do no such thing, that ring will remain on your finger no matter what" Gray mind-links me as we continue our journey.
I just laugh looking over at him, he looks at me smirking also as we reach the steps of the building. As we enter everyone bows their heads and we're lead up a huge staircase, I'm talking a massive staircase! It was so big that as we reach the top I was kind of out of breath, it's mostly due to me being wolf-less.
We're led into another room which as you walk in, had two chairs at the front with one or two behind. The chairs stood on this balcony type ledge, below that stood a courtroom which was empty at the moment. I was told it's better if we sit down and let everyone else in, that way it's less attention and people might not notice us right away.
We take our seats with Erik sat just behind me but the chair beside him was empty, I assume that's for Josh but he's going to be in the courtroom with Daisy. Within minutes the courtroom was full and all that was left was for Daisy to enter, like on cue she walks in. The burns on her body looked so much better to when I last saw her, her face just held worry as she took her seat in front of the court. For her sake I hope this goes well, she shouldn't even be sat in here but the officials have nothing else to do than to terrorise someone, they must be bored! Everyone begins to rise from their chairs, does that mean we have to stand up also?
"No my love, everyone is standing due to the judge entering the court, we are above the judge so we remain seated" Gray mind-links me answering my question.
A man walks out of the door standing behind a huge desk, before he takes his seat he looks up at me and Gray bowing his head. Gray gives him a slight nod which causes the judge to take his seat, woah very technical!
Gray just laughs a little under his breath, I smile nudging him slightly as the judge began to speak.
Here we go.
We were a few hours into the trial, the officials had a few witnesses that they questioned but Daisy was yet to speak. I hadn't a clue how it was going and I can't really ask any questions to anyone either.
"You can ask me anything my love" Gray says invading my brain once again, I just shake my head as one of the officials call Daisy to the stand.
She nervously gets out of her seat walking over to the stand, once she arrives her eyes drift to us but I knew I couldn't allow myself to show emotions towards her. How is Gray so good at this?! I guess he's had years of practice, I hope it gets easier for me to do the same. I feel a hand reach over and take mine. I glance to Gray who places a kiss to my hand, I smile a little before looking back at the courtroom.
"Now Miss Johnson, we have a few questions for you, the first, would you consider you and the Queen to be friends?" He asks but Daisy's lawyer man rises from his chair.
"Objection! How is that relevant?" He asks looking over at the judge, the judge nods forcing the official to ditch that question.
"Would you consider yourself one of her loyal subjects?" He asks kind of asking the same question but rephrasing it, I have to admit this man is good at his job.
"Yes" is all Daisy says which is the first time she's spoken, you could hear how nervous she was due to her shaky tone.
"Then please explain to the court, why would you put the Queen's life in danger if you're one of her loyal subjects?" He asks which was very sneaky, he didn't even give her the chance to answer him before he spoke once again "I am also one of her loyal subjects, it would never cross my mind to put the Queen in any kind of danger, I think I can speak for everyone in this courtroom when I say I would put myself in front of her if anything was to occur!" The man continues, this causes me to look around at everyone in the courtroom, maybe a few of them would but probably not all.
Just as I was looking around my ears begin to ring, so loudly that I couldn't hear what was going on around me. I didn't want to cause a scene so I just close my eyes and hope the ringing stops soon, it got more and more intense where that's all I could really hear. At the same time, I start to feel more power running through my veins with a tingling sensation following, but then it abruptly stops.
"I'm back!" My wolf screams in my head happily "did you miss me?" She asks happily jumping around.
"But how are you back, the doctors are still looking for the medication to bring you back?" I asked shocked, is it something I ate for breakfast that brought her back? I didn't think I ate anything that had magical healing powers, what did I have? This weird yogurt type thing, I'm totally unsure what it was if I'm honest.
"We don't need medication, I just needed time for the chemicals to make it's way out my system" she scoffs at me, normally I would have snapped back at her rudeness but I couldn't help but laugh, oh I have missed her "do you wanna know what I've missed, being able to run around! So get up and jog or something!" she says which makes my body go all jittery, that would be highly inappropriate if I were to just get up and leave the court.
"But I need to go!" She whines annoyed at me, I snap out of out conversation and look towards Gray who's eyes didn't leave the official who was talking.
I should have been keeping up with the conversation about the court, but my wolf chose to come back now, so I can just blame her if I get asked anything.
"Now it's my turn to invade your mind when I want to" I mind-link him, I just stare out at the court with a smirk on my lips.
Out the corner of my eye I spot him turn to look at me shocked, I so wanted to laugh but I knew that would bring attention to us and people will probably think I'm laughing about the court situation and that definitely would not be a good look.
"You can mind-link me?" He asks through mind-link, I really hope people don't look up and see our faces just blank.
"My wolfs back! She told me we didn't need medication we just had to wait for the chemicals to leave her system, which side-note, there better be a break soon as my wolf is desperate to run and is very likely going to force me out that door" I tell him before snapping back to reality, where the judge sent the jury off to deliberate.
"True statement!" My wolf shouts in my mind growing even more restless.
"It appears to be a break, I will join you" he responds as the jury fully leave the courtroom.
"I've waited long enough" my wolf says before she takes over and forces me to leave the room, Gray close behind.
It's good to be back!
