Freedom
After the wholesome family moment, the court got called back in. Gray was now back from wherever he went and joined me on the balcony once more, he isn't going to believe the information I just found out, I'll have to tell him after this is all finished.
It was now Preston's turn to go to the stand, the court was silent as we all watch him walk over to the stand. All you could hear where the chains around his feet rattling, I glance over at Gray who's eyes didn't leave his father. I reach over taking his hand in mine, it was my turn to comfort him. He places a kiss on my hand before resting our interlocked hands on his leg, as Preston took the stand he takes a look up at us.
"Now let's start with the questions shall we, did you hire Cyrus and Wes Jacobs?" Our guy asks placing his hands in his pockets, we all knew where this was going to go, might as well get it over with.
"Yes I did" was all Preston says, well at least his admitting to it! Let's hope he keeps this up the whole trial.
"Did you order them to burn Rupert Bynes house down resulting in the death of his mate?" Our guy asks, even the thought of Rupert makes me look down a little but I soon shake it off.
"Yes, the Queen even witnessed it" Preston says looking up at me, why am I being brought into this?
"We aren't talking about the Queen, we are here to prove to everybody of how dangerous you really are" our guy says trying to get the attention away from me, why is Preston trying to loop it back to me "now, we don't have to really question you on the death of your daughter, Matilda, you already confessed" our guy says as the man on Preston side stands up, he points towards me as he spoke.
"The only reason he confessed was because the Queen brought him to his mate's funeral, it was there she persuaded him to do so" he says pointing directly at me as he spoke, wait what is he talking about?! I only did that as I felt bad.
Gray places a second kiss on my hand before rising to his feet, the man who was pointing at me puts his arm down almost immediately.
"Yes, it's better if you reframe from pointing at my mate, you don't want to lose that arm" he growls out before fixing his suit, in a second he had jumped from the balcony onto the floor.
I immediately run to the side scared for a second, he had safely landed on ground here he once again fixes his suit, okay Gray if you're listening to my thoughts never do that again!
He walks through the court and passed the man that pointed at me, the dude moves back in his chair terrified. Gray seems to like that reaction and move away from the guy and into the middle of the court, I still stood by the ledge of the balcony looking over at him.
"Now, I should not be speaking in this court as it is an old rule that the King and Queen are prohibited from doing so, but as my gorgeous mate demonstrated in the previous trial we attended, time is changing as like the rules that were put in place by incompetent men, such as my father" Gray says looking directly at Preston as he spoke, Preston looks a bit taken back at first but doesn't go to speak "I do not like that in your attempted to prove your non-existed innocence, you spoke so harshly of my mate, when my mate is in fact one of the kindest, warmest, most light-spoken person you will ever meet, she invited you to my mothers funeral out of the kindness of her heart, she thought you deserved to say goodbye to your mate but I see you just throw it back in her face" Gray says walking straight over to Preston, he sits up straight trying to act tough.
"I know what you are going to do father, you will sit there and claim that you committed the crimes that we all know you did, out of love for your people and wanted to protect them anyway you could" Gray continues getting closer and closer into his fathers face "but do you want to know the harsh truth father, now all the people that survived your reign of terror want nothing to do with you but my people, they love my mate and I because we have a heart, unlike you I will do everything in my power to protect my people but most importantly, my family, I am going to be a tremendous husband and one day, father, something that you never were" Gray says spitefully in his fathers face, I was worried that he would attack his fathers then and there.
I knew if I try to jump from this balcony, I wouldn't land as gracefully as Gray managed to. Also, I think I spent enough time in that courtroom the other day.
"Dial it back Gray, you want the jury to see what a difference it is between you and your father" I quickly mind-link him, as I look at him I spot he takes a deep breath before turning to face everyone.
"Now I am not telling you to convict my father for all the awful crimes that he commit, I am asking you to think long and hard if that is a man you want to be walking the streets among your families" Gray says looking directly at the jury, he's doing what I was doing that day!
He looks around at everyone for a few more seconds before leaving the court, this time like a normal person and through the door. No one speaks for a few minutes, even when Gray walked back into the balcony the court was silent, I mean it was very unexpected what Gray just did.
"I see why you did that last time my love, it felt good" he whispers to me as he takes his seat, I just laugh a little actually agreeing with him on that.
"Do you wish to say anything Preston?" The judge asks breaking the silence, Preston looks up at Gray and shakes his head.
"No, my son had just made sure that I will never be seeing freedom ever again" he sighs standing up, the guards help him down to sit where he previously was "there isn't much point the jury going to deliberate is there?" He asks sitting back in his chair, the judge shouts he is not to speak unless he is on the stand "but my son and his mate are allowed to speak whenever they please?!" He asks angrily, I take a look to Gray who looked pissed, I put my arm out knowing he wanted to jump off this balcony again.
"They are the King and Queen, you sir are nothing but a disgraceful criminal! Now the jury are going to go and deliberate because I said they are, this is my court!" The judge shouts he now pissed with Preston, everyone is pissed with Preston! Oh that sort of rhymed.
The judge does that and sends the jury off to go and well deliberate, this left Preston just sat back in his chair once again.
"I hope you're happy with yourself son!" He shouts over at Gray, Gray just replies with a laugh looking back at Preston.
"Oh you will not believe how happy I am, come on my love let's go take a walk outside, freely" he smiles down at his Preston before taking my hand, we were soon walking out from the balcony and down the long staircase.
"I like that side of you" I smirk looking over at him, he just smirks back but instead of leading me outside he takes me into a room closing the door.
"Now you are going to see why I do not share" he smirks down at me.
