Final Chapter

The jury didn't take long to decide what was to happen to Preston, much to Gray's annoyance. We were now sat in the courtroom waiting for the jury to come back in, I was pretty confident that we'd won this but you never know. I look down into the court to see my family sat all together, even Cyrus was sat beside my dad, like one big happy family! My eyes wonder to Preston, he had such a horrible look on his face, I think it's finally now setting in that this whole act of being a devoted King isn't going to pass. The act he was playing is now up as Gray said, he's about to pay for all those people he hurt. The jury soon enter the courtroom going over to sit where they have been, Gray quickly takes my hand as the main jury person stands up. "Have you came to an agreement?" The judge asks the man, the man nods yes looking straight at the judge "how do you find the defendant, guilty or not guilty?" He asks, which was the golden question. As like in Daisy's trial there was a pause, a brief second felt like hours as we all sat on the edge of our seats waiting. "Guilty" the man says which just makes a huge smile fill my lips, Gray places a few kisses on my hand over and over again. I turn back to Erik who was off his chair and fist pumping the sky happily, Gray let's go of my hand knowing what I wanted to do. I get up out of my seat wrapping Erik in a hug. "We did it Clara, we actually did it!" He says holding me tightly, we've been working this case non-stop for what feels like years and it's finally over! "We did, as Gray said the dream team" I smile pulling away from him where Gray was making eye contact with his father. "I was King and this is how you treat me?! I'm not being locked away!" Preston shouts while trying to bolt, in seconds guards had already tackled him to the ground "no I am not going down like this!" He shouts trying to fight against them with little to no luck, he had around 20 guards on him with about 100 over head watching his every move. "Now to your sentencing" the judge says getting everyone's attention, I walk back over to Gray holding his arm as we look down at Preston, who was now being held up by guards "you Preston are an evil man, you keep claiming that you did it for your people but you see those two on that balcony, their people know that they are safe having those two there, when you were King everyone was terrified, unsure if their families was going to be safe, I don't see a time where it would be safe for you to ever walk freely through the public, that is why I am giving you the maximum sentence I can, 500 years in prison" the judge says which once again sends Preston into a complete rage. "Get him out my court" the judge says waving his hand towards Preston, he is dragged out of court literally kicking and screaming. I run and jump into Gray's arms who held me so tightly, we just hold each other for ages a huge feeling of relief was just running through me. "I cannot thank you enough my love, the moment you came into my life, you have just been fixing all of the broken parts" Gray says tears forming in his eyes as he spoke "I never thought I would be able to finally put my father away, where I would not need to think about him again, but look at what you have done, you have given justice to those who would not have received it otherwise, I love you" he smiles holding me on his arms, I just smile placing a kiss on his lips. Finally, the start of a new beginning! ~Eight Months Later~ These last few months have just flown by, I am now Mrs Clara Bennett, and before you ask yes it was a lot to get used to. Our wedding was just incredible. It was held on our one year anniversary of meeting, which was so special. My dad and Kyle walked me down the isle to give me away, I was now close to my dad but I couldn't just forget about Kyle. As Gray said, we're changing the rules so I chose both. Speaking of my family, after the wholesome moment in the court that day, things have just been getting better and better. They all come round the castle every Sunday for dinner, that includes Cyrus, who really hasn't got used to being called Granddad yet. Kyle and Emma are expecting a baby! That's why Emma didn't come to court that day as she was having morning sickness! I mean yeah that sucks but I'm gonna be an aunt, I can't wait to meet their cute little baby. Everyone keeps asking me and Gray when we're gonna have our first kid? It is something we've spoken about but agreed that we would wait a few more years, until we are both ready. Gray and I have been taking more time away from work to spend together, over the last year it's become clear to us what is really important and how fragile life is, you need to spend as much time as possible with the people you love. At the start of this whole journey, I was this scared kid like person, I was afraid of everything and hid from everyone. But now look at me, I'm happily married to an incredible man who has taught me so much. I am so confident in what I do and will stand up for what I believe in, I have turned into the best version of myself and it's all thanks to Gray.
