29. Become A Protector
[HUGO]
[I'll pick you up at the basement at three in the afternoon. Come to basement area AB]
Arleena walked down the hallway to the glass door of the basement while replaying Hugo's message. Arleena had typed a reply to Hugo, but there was no reply from Hugo. The conversation between the two of them in the message was only limited to that.
Arleena also didn't know why Hugo suddenly picked her up. Even though before Hugo left to take care of business in another country, Hugo never picked up Arleena's company office.
Was it because of Justin's sudden arrival?
Arleena sighed heavily as she put her cell phone back into her pocket. She raised her face and nodded briefly to the security guard as a gesture of greeting.
"Miss Arleena, someone was looking for you a few minutes ago." Suddenly, the security guard at the basement's glass door informed her.
Asleena's steps stopped instantly, she looked at the security guard with a confused look. Asleena never felt like she had an appointment with anyone. Except Hugo. Was it Hugo who approached the security guard and gave a message for Arleena to meet him?
"Who was looking for me, sir?" asked Arleena. "I mean, what are the characteristics of the person who was looking for me?"
"Looks... tall," replied the security guard. "A little taller than me. He was wearing a formal shirt but not office attire."
Arleena was certain that it was Hugo the security guard was referring to. But Arleena wondered about the formal shirt but not the office clothes that the security guard said. Wouldn't Hugo be wearing the black blazer of the CEO's uniform if it was Hugo who was looking for her?
It was currently Hugo's office hours.
There was no way Hugo would change clothes that quickly after returning from his office-which wasn't even far from Arleena's current office building.
Remembering it all made Arleena suspect something. Her hunch became ominous. Arleena felt uneasy, but did not want to show a gesture of unrest to the security guard.
"Where's the person who was looking for me, sir?" asked Arleena with a facial expression made as normal as possible.
The security guard in front of Arleena immediately looked around to check the surroundings. But soon the security guard looked confused because he couldn't find anyone.
"A moment ago, that person was waiting over there," the security guard said as he pointed to a seat a few meters away from him. But there was no one there. "But I don't know where he went. I saw someone walking into the BB parking lot."
BB parking lot.
Arleena frowned in confusion. Wait. Didn't Hugo say he would wait in the AB parking lot? Why is Hugo changing places now without giving any news?
Exasperated, Arleena sighed very slowly. She gave a smile while nodding her thanks to the security guard, then stepped into the BB parking lot.
As she walked, Arleena checked her cell phone again. There was no reply message from Hugo. She instantly became more annoyed that Hugo hadn't given her any news at all. What if Arleena had already gone to the AB parking lot, and it turned out that there was no one there?
"Hugo... you're still as annoying as ever!" Arleena growled to herself.
Arleena paused for a moment after walking into the gaps of the cars lined up. Her eyes tried to find where Hugo's car was. Luckily, she had memorized what Hugo's car looked like and its license plate.
"Where did he park his car?" asked Arleena as she walked along one car after another.
After passing a number of cars in a row, Arleena could not find the whereabouts of Hugo's car. Instead, Arleena was almost at a dead end.
"Arleena?"
Arleena's steps instantly stopped after hearing someone's voice from behind. Her body stiffened entirely. The voice just now sounded very familiar. However, it was not Hugo's voice. Arleena felt her goosebumps bristle, causing her to shudder slightly.
Arleena didn't want to turn her face. Because she already knew who the owner of the voice was behind her, Arleena couldn't move at all. Her jaw hardened, imagining the face of the person who called her just now.
"It turns out you came to see me," said the person behind Arleena again.
The more she listened, the more Arleena was convinced that the person behind her was Justin.
Arleena was furious at that remark.
"To see you?" she asked, then couldn't help but laugh sarcastically. "Who wants to see you?"
Footsteps sounded, then stopped beside Arleena. Without even turning around, Arleena knew that the person next to her was Justin. It was. His stature really did resemble Justin.
"You shouldn't have come. I gave you a warning a while ago," Arleena said in a firm tone and still refused to turn her head.
Justin could be heard chuckling. A very annoying sound for Arleena.
"I was going to come even though you told me not to, Arleena. You should know that we're not done yet."
Arleena was very annoyed. Rolling her eyes in exasperation, Arleena turned around to look at Justin. As their bodies now faced each other, instead of Arleena's cynical look, Justin widened his satisfied smile.
"You didn't want to look at me the whole time. You finally turned around," Justin said with a chuckle. Justin seemed to be deliberately mocking Arleena.
"Will you stop? What you're doing should be enough," said Arleena who didn't hesitate to show her annoyance. "What unfinished business are we in? You know damn well, you're the one in a relationship with another woman-"
"Aish, Arleena, can't you get over it?!" Justin sounded agitated, his voice rising a little suddenly, startling Arleena.
Arleena was silent. She looked at Justin who frowned until his face was formed in annoyance.
"I did make consecutive mistakes, but usually you forgive me. Then suddenly you go out of your way and cancel our wedding plans?" Justin grumbled as he continued his sentence.
Arleena was almost at a loss for words because Justin was still blaming her. Justin was completely unaware of the mistake that made Arleena have to cancel their wedding.
"You can forgive me for yesterday. You know, I was stressed out for some reason, so I had to have fun with another woman," Justin continued, still trying to defend himself. "I can't take you out for fun because you're always busy working!"
"What?" Arleena laughed sarcastically then, she looked away. "You don't want to admit your mistake and say that what you did was my fault?"
Justin didn't answer as he put his hands on his waist. His smirk was still curved on his face.
Arleena took a step forward, looked at Justin intensely, then replied, "Your actions are your responsibility. Why are you making it my fault? You should have other ways to have fun, not involving other women."
With sharp and serious eyes on Arleena, Justin also took a step forward. The distance between the two of them was almost nil, but Arleena quickly retreated her steps.
"You should forgive me, that's what you've been doing every time I make a mistake." Justin immediately emphasized his sentence.
In front of Justin, Arleena was silent for a moment. "Forgive you? Too bad, I was just fooling you, Justin."
Justin was just about to reply. But unfortunately someone held his right shoulder from the right side. Justin immediately turned his head and found Hugo staring at him very sharply. As if he was going to kill him that very second.
"You have no right to say anything to Arleena, asshole. She's already my wife," Hugo said, giving a stern warning.
