10. Meet Me Behind Them All
"Your makeup touch-ups are really amazing, Olivia." The words of praise were spoken by one of the clients.
Olivia, who was closing her makeup kit, smiled automatically. A warm feeling spread without waiting for a long time in her heart.
"Thank you. I really appreciate it," Olivia replied with a brief nod. "Is there any part you don't like, Mrs.?"
The high society female client examined the right and left sides of her face. Over and over until she smiled broadly. There was a twinkle of satisfaction in her eyes.
"I don't think so," she replied, making Olivia breathe a sigh of relief. "You really know your makeup techniques. It's possible that if you hadn't handled my make-up, there would have been many parts that I wasn't satisfied with."
Olivia immediately smiled unpleasantly. "Oh my, Mrs. The other seniors are much more capable than I am," she replied with a grin.
The female client pressed her lips together as she shook her head. "There may be, but I really want to hire your services."
"Thank you, Mrs."
Before Olivia knew it, two steps behind her, Jane was standing. Jane folded her arms across her chest, watching Olivia with a sardonic glance.
The female client's words had accidentally reached Jane's ears. I don't know why Jane's heart flinched when she heard the female client's last sentence. Even though it was clearly Jane who gave this client to Olivia.
Day by day, there was no chance for her resentment towards Olivia to fade. Why is it always Olivia who gets the attention, while the one who most often takes over this job is Jane?
Despite her annoyance, Jane tried to normalize her expression. Pretending to flex the corners of her lips to force herself to smile. Jane immediately cleared her throat briefly.
"Excuse me, ma'am, is it done?" Jane walked up from behind Olviia, looking with a slight bow to the side. "Wow, you look very pretty."
The female client and Olivia simultaneously turned their faces to the source of the voice. In contrast to Olivia who immediately faded her smile and bowed respectfully. The female client stood up from her seat, stood facing Jane, and flashed a happy twinkle.
"Really?" The female client lightly touched a few spots on her face. "I look pretty already?"
Jane nodded. Her smile curved politely. It radiated warmth on her face.
"How could I lie? Our chairwoman is beautiful," Jane replied, making the female client even more excited.
Without answering Jane's words, the female client's gaze turned to Olivia.
"I told you earlier, your makeup touch-ups are amazing," said the female client with a moved expression on her face.
Olivia just wanted to smile widely. But then Olivia accidentally saw the look on Jane's face. There was a hint of cynicism on Seo-dam's face, making Olivia's feelings instantly shrink.
"You must be very happy to have a senior like her who appreciates you." The female client deliberately threw in a joke to make the situation between them less awkward.
There was nothing Olivia could do but nod stiffly, occasionally glancing at Jane. Too bad the female client didn't realize that Jane was throwing a glare at Olivia at that moment.
Olivia, with a polite bow, replied, "Thank you very much, Mrs. I'm also happy to be able to hold your makeup."
"Of course. You're supposed to hold makeup for me and people like me," the female client replied. "Or next time I have an event like this, would you like to be my make-up artist?"
Hearing that question managed to raise Olivia's hackles. Neither did Jane.
The first thing Olivia did was stare at Jane. Jane seemed to dislike Olivia. It made Olivia immediately feel awkward, uncomfortable to answer.
"That..." Olivia's voice was held back because she felt uncomfortable answering. "I appreciate your choice, but..."
"Of course you can, Mrs.," Jane interrupted before Olivia could finish her sentence. She walked over to Jane, deliberately wrapping an arm around Olivia's back.
Glancing at Olivia briefly, Jane continued, "Olivia is a junior who has a lot of respect for her chairman. So she was waiting for my approval."
Olivia was somewhat reluctant when she felt Jane beside her. After Jane's words came out, Olivia felt Jane's hand pinch her back. She flinched because the pinch was quite hard, but Olivia slowly tried to act normally.
"Why do you have to be awkward like that?" Jane shook Olivia's body slightly, acting like a close friend. "It's very rude of you to refuse the Organization Chairwoman's request. Don't be like that, it's our honor."
The female client, who had been suspicious of Olivia's awkwardness, laughed with relief.
"Oh my. It's true what your chairman said, listen to him. Don't let me refuse my request," joked the female client, the Organization Chairwoman. She wore a jokingly amused look, making Olivia feel that the atmosphere of tension had eased a little.
"Can I accept this request?" Olivia asked Jane. Without knowing whether Jane would actually allow it or not.
Jane widened her eyes briefly as Olivia innocently asked the question.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I allow it? Did I ever forbid you to take on a client?"
Noticing the strange look on Jane's face, Olivia knew that Jane was just pretending. Jane implied through her expression that Olivia should agree.
"Ah, i... yes, Madam Chair. I can't refuse your request," Olivia replied with an awkward smile. She was lying on purpose. "Chairwoman Jane always allows me to accept clients."
The female client nodded her head with a chuckle. She didn't realize that there was any awkwardness between the two of them.
"Thank goodness for that. You do work well together."
Olivia secretly felt sad in her heart. If only it could be like that, thought Olivia who had to force herself to smile.

Lunch time. Olivia took advantage of this time to go to a cafe a few meters away from the building where she worked.
"Do you want to eat their new Bulgogi meat menu?" asked Reyva, Olivia's coworker, while putting her arm around Olivia's shoulders.
Olivia nodded her head, her eyes twinkling. "Is it already available?"
Reyva excitedly said, "Of course it is. They just released the new menu yesterday. This is the perfect time for us to try it."
"Ah, I didn't know they released that menu," Olivia replied, frowning for a moment. Thinking.
"We should try that menu!"
Just now Olivia wanted to open her mouth, to say something, but Olivia's intention was canceled. Olivia accidentally heard the tinkling of a notification on her cell phone.
Olivia's steps stopped. On the other hand, Reyva also stopped stepping.
"What's wrong, Olivia?" asked Reyva.
Olivia immediately took out her cell phone from her sling bag. She made a hand gesture to Reyva, as if asking her to be quiet for a moment.
"I have a message, just a moment."
Reyva watched Olivia who looked seriously at the screen. For a moment, Olivia's eyes widened to sparkle.
Unbeknownst to Reyva, Olivia was reading a message from someone.
[Axel: Can we meet for a while, Olivia? I'll tell you where I am]
