72. His Suspiciousness
Farah was a little annoyed that Dayyan answered a phone call from someone while they were taking care of something important about paying the hospital fees. Moreover, Dayyan mentioned a woman's name.
"Yes, I'm still pulling today." Dayyan then hung up the phone. That's when he read one of Zahra's messages that he hadn't had time to read, along with the proof of transfer. Dayyan widened his eyes at the huge amount Zahra had sent to his account.
"Dad, it's waiting." Farah admonished her husband who was still standing behind her.
"Uh, yes. Yes, I will pay the room fee as soon as possible. Today is fine." Farah was a little surprised that they had no savings left. The proceeds from the sale of Septin's house had been used up to pay the previous bills.
"Okay, you can take this to the cashier for payment." The uniformed officer handed over the hospital bill.
"You can pay by card, right, Ma'am?" asked Dayyan as he took out his ATM card.
"Yes, sir. Just a moment."
Farah chose to sit on the waiting chair to let Dayyan finish paying. There was only one chair available in front of the cashier.
"Dad, where did you get the money to pay this much?" asked Farah when Dayyan handed her the receipt.
"I have a friend who is kind enough to lend me some, Ma. I'll pay for it later." Dayyan immediately took Farah back to the room where Athaya was being treated.
After making sure Athaya was transferred, he immediately went to Zahra's house.
"Mrs. Zahra, why don't you tell me first if you want to transfer?" he asked when he saw Zahraa preparing a rice box. "Sorry, sorry, thank you, I thank you for helping me when I was in a bind, but you should have talked to me first."
"And Mr. Dayyan would have refused, wouldn't he?" said Zahra. She knew that Dayyan was a man of strong convictions, so he would probably refuse her help. After all, a man's pride is above all else.
"I'm not lending, so there's no need to return it."
"You can't do that, Mrs. Zahra. I will definitely return this loan. I'm sorry I can't accept this much money."
"Mas Dayyan, this is for Athaya, not for Mas Dayyan. Consider it a little help so that Athaya will recover quickly."
"Thank you again, I will definitely return this money."
"Mas Dayyan must not have had breakfast yet, right? Here, have breakfast first," Zahra said gently as she placed a plate of nasi rames in front of Dayyan. The man remembered Ehsan's words yesterday. But he ignored them. He was secretly very happy and enjoyed Zahra's nasi rames, which tasted better than usual.
Zahra was always good at keeping Dayyan's feelings in check, when he was busy managing his heart, discussing money, Zahra served him food so that Dayyan would stop talking about it.
"Mrs. Zahra, why isn't her future husband being told to have breakfast too?"
"Future husband?" Zahra knitted her eyebrows together.
"That's Mas Ehsan, who used to hang out in front."
"How did you know he was my future husband?" Zahra asked.
"Yesterday we met, he introduced himself."
"Actually, he's ... just a friend." Zahra didn't want to continue her sentence. She wasn't in the mood to discuss Ehsan, who was putting her in a bad mood.
"Mas Dayyan, can I ask you a favor?" She smiled sweetly at Dayyan who was still enjoying his nasi rames. Dayyan nodded because his mouth was full.
"Look, there are more orders now, so I have to go shopping early in the morning. If you don't mind, can you take me to the market?" Zahra asked hesitantly.
"That's fine, I usually pick up after dawn too." Dayyan finished his mouthful, then finished Zahra's sweet tea.
"I'm just dropping you off. You're coming home with a lot of groceries, so I can order a car taxi. If it's too early in the morning, car taxis are a bit difficult, you have to wait here for a long time. But if it's already six or seven o'clock, there are plenty around the market."
"That's right, yes. No problem." Zahra said thank you with a sweet smile, making Dayyan smile too.
Athay's condition was getting better, until three days later he was allowed to go home. Dayyan prepared to take Zahra to the market after Fajr prayer.
"Got an order, Dad?" asked Farah when she saw her husband getting ready.
"Yes, to the market," Dayyan replied honestly. "If I get another order after the market, then I'll be on my way, Ma." Dayyan kissed his wife on the forehead, and also approached Athaya to say goodbye. "I hope you have many orders today," said Athaya."
"Aamiin," Dayyan and Farah replied in unison. It was still very early in the morning when Dayya left her house for Zahra's house. When her motorcycle stopped in front of Zahra's house, Abah Nurman had just returned from the mosque. He saw Zahra riding with a motorcycle taxi driver.
"That child is getting more and more diligent every day. Hopefully, his business will be blessed and he can benefit many people."
Abah Nurman continued to recite the Quran on the upper terrace as usual. It was getting late in the day when he saw Zahra being dropped off by the same motorcycle taxi driver. There was also a car behind him, which stopped when Zahra got off the motorcycle.
Dayyan helped unload Zahra's groceries from the trunk, taking her to the kitchen. Then the man excused himself to pick up an online order. "Thank you, Mas. It'll be done faster this way."
"Yes, ma'am. You're welcome, I'll excuse myself. Let me know when it's ready. I'm staying nearby."
Abah Nurman saw and heard everything from above. Not just that day, almost every day he saw the same man dropping off and helping his daughter until the old man felt something was odd. He talked about it with his wife.
"If he is an online ojek, why is it the same every day? They say that online ojek are different people." Mursida frowned. Ehsan had said this too, but at the time she thought he was just jealous and making it up.
"But Zahra once said that she deliberately ordered one or two ojek drivers offline, Bah. What that means, umi doesn't understand."
"Ordering offline means you don't count the argos," Abah Nurman replied. "It's just like a taxi." Mursida said.
"I'll ask Zahra again to make it clearer. But are you sure it's the same taxi driver? I wonder if you can see his helmet and jacket, if it's the same all over Indonesia."
"The motorcycle, Abah knows the plate by heart. Every time after Fajr he waits for Zahra out front, then takes her to the market, then he takes her home again."
"Hmm, I think it's time for umi to ask this, because Ehsan also said that he was like this, exactly the same."
Abah Nurman actually didn't mind if Zahra did take the same ojek. He knew his daughter's only destination was the market. He once offered to take Zahra by car, but she refused. "Abah just helps at home, let the shopping be Zahra's business."
