Chapter 107
Chapter 31
I hated final exams more than anything, especially at university. They were way harder than final exams at high school, but that was life, I guess.
Grayson and I were counting down the weeks until Ryder's due and right now, on the last day of final exams, there were six weeks and two days left. Of course, he might not be born on the due date/ He could be born early, or late.
"Good luck on your exam," Grayson told me. He just finished his last one and decided to walk me to the lecture hall where my last one was. "I should be here by the time you finish."
I gave him a smile and kissed his cheek before going into the lecture hall. I couldn't wait until I was finished the exam because then, we would have three months off before heading back since we weren't going to do a summer term. That would be too much for us to handle with Ryder on the way.
I sat down and waited for about five minutes before my professor handed out the exam booklets. When he told us to began, I flipped through the booklet, looking at each answer. The were varied in difficulty; some I knew off the bat and others looked very confusing.
I started the exam, taking my time, even though I wanted to get it over with. However, I'd rather get a good grade and take my time than rush through it and get a bad grade.
When I finished about half of the booklet, I was starting to get very thirsty. I opened my bag, looking for my water bottle that I took everywhere since my doctor told me to stay hydrated. But it wasn't in there, so I must have left it at home.
I quietly sighed and continued with the exam. I was going to have to wait, even though I really needed the water.
It wasn't long before I was starting to feel a bit dizzy. It didn't help that it was extremely hot in the room.
I couldn't take it any longer. I got up from my seat and walked over to my professor. "Can I get a drink of water?" I asked in a quiet voice.
"I'm afraid I can't let you leave until you finished your exam," he said. "Even in your situation, I can't break the rules for one student."
I sighed, but nodded. "Okay, I understand." It was worth the try. It wouldn't be fair if he let me leave for a minute because for all he knew, I could be looking up answers to questions.
I went back to my seat, but I found it too hard to concentrate. I was just about to start choosing random answers when the professor looked at the door and say, "Can I help you?"
Everyone looked towards the door, only to see Grayson standing there. "Uh, my girlfriend forgot this," he said, holding up my water bottle.
My professor got up and walked over to Grayson. They exchanged a few words before Grayson gave him my water bottle and left. My professor than walked over to me and gave me the water bottle. "I believe this is yours," he said. "You're lucky he saw it at your house and decided to bring it." I was extremely lucky.
After taking long sips out of my water, I was feeling better and was able to concentrate again. I wasn't the first one to finish the exam, but I finished before a lot of people.
I handed the booklet in before gathering up my stuff and walking out of the lecture hall. Grayson was, as promised, waiting for me there. "Hey, how was it?" he asked.
"It was okay," I said. "Thank you for bring my water bottle, by the way. I could not concentrate at all because of how dehydrated I was."
"No problem," Grayson said. "How does it feel being finished with the exams?"
I smiled at that. "Great. Three months off before we have to go back. I think it calls for a celebration. Want to go home and Netflix? And pig out on food?"
Grayson chuckled. "Sure, we'll go home and Netflix." He took my hand in his as we started walking to our apartment.
When we got there we both settled on the couch as he turned on the TV and Netflix. He chose a movie and placed the remote on the coffee table before wrapping his arm around my shoulder. I rested my head on his shoulder as we both watched the movie.
Grayson kept randomly kissing my forehead and occasionally sneaked a kiss on my lips. He was so random at times and I loved it.
Someone suddenly knocked on the door, so I got up to answer it. "Tony!" I exclaimed, wrapping my arms around him. The last time I saw him was on my birthday, and that was more than two months ago.
"Hi, Poppy," he said as he hugged me back. "Wow, you look more pregnant than you did two months go."
"Yeah, I know," I said as I let him in. "Six weeks and two days left."
"Are you excited?" he asked.
"Yeah," I said. "But, by the way, putting up a baby crib is harder than it looks."
"It was not hard," Grayson objected.
"It took you two days," I reminded.
"In my defense, I was doing it alone," Grayson said. "And I was reading the instructions wrong for a good two hours. But it's up and it's safe for our son."
I sat back down beside Grayson and Tony sat down on the chair. "So, I have a question for you, Poppy," Tony said. "And Grayson, too, I guess. Let's say someone is ignoring me. How would I get said person to stop ignoring me?"
"That depends," I said. "It's different for each person. Who's ignoring you and why?"
"Uh..." Tony said, and I could see the hesitant look in his eyes. "It's, uh, Charlie."
"Oh, so the girl you like is ignoring you," I said with a smile. However, he didn't even bother denying it, which he normally did. "What happened between you?"
Tony sighed. "We kind of hooked up and..."
"Whoa, wait a second," I said. "Hooked up as in just kissing or... more than that?"
"Well..." he said slowly.
No. Way.
"When did it happen?" I asked.
"About two weeks ago," Tony said. "I try talking to her but every time I do, she ignores me or tells me to leave her alone. The thing is, before we... you know... I asked if she wanted to and she said yes. But now, she's acting like she didn't want it to happen."
I had to think for a bit. Why would Charlie be ignoring Tony? "Well, you two would always argue," I said. "Maybe she got so used to you two arguing and acting like you don't like each other, so having sudden feelings for you is confusing her."
"You really think so?" Tony asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know, possibly. I don't know what's going on in her head. But, for you, the best thing for you to do is probably just let her think. As painful as it will be for you, don't try talking to her. It will probably confuse her more."
"It's not that easy, Poppy," Tony said. "We work together. Believe it or not, there are a lot of teacher meetings, especially for the science department, which we both work in."
"You don't have to talk to her during the meetings," I pointed out.
"True," Tony said. "I guess... I guess I'll let her think for a bit. It's just hard having her ignore me after all that."
"I can't be that hard," I said. "Well, then again, I clearly remembering someone ignoring me for quite some time."
"Hey, it wasn't like we were dating or anything then," Grayson said.
"But you were my only friend then," I said. "But, that's not the point. The point is for Tony to just let Charlie take a breather, no matter how much I ship them."
Tony sighed. "First Dad, now you? You guys can't ship me."
"Uh, yeah I can," I said. "I'm nineteen, I'm allowed to ship people. Dad, on the other hand, is just weird."
"Yeah, I know," Tony said. "He wanted to invite Charlie over for dinner a few days ago, but I told him that Charlie and I weren't really talking and he slapped me upside the head and told me I was ruining his ship."
"Ah, I've taught him well," I said. "But, seriously, things will get better between you and Charlie. Probably. Just let things happen."
"You better be right," Tony said.
