Chapter 97
Chapter 21
"How about... Alan?" Grayson asked.
I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Alan? So in other words, you want to name our son after your middle name?"
"Fine, not Alan," Grayson said. "You're so picky."
"I'm picky?" I asked. "You shot down all of my suggestions? I only shot down two of yours."
Grayson ignored me, even though I was right. I suggested so many names, yet he shot down every single one, claiming its not a cool enough name for our son. "Oh, I have the perfect name," Grayson said with a smile. "It's cool, awesome, and basically the definition of the best person alive."
"What?"
"Grayson."
I gave him a flat look. "Grayson, we're not naming our son after you."
"Please?" Grayson asked. "It will be so cute if his name was Grayson Jr."
"Shut up."
Grayson sighed and leaned back in the couch. "This is harder than I thought," he muttered.
"It's okay," I said. "We still have less than five months to pick a name. We don't have to do it now."
"I know," Grayson said as he looked at me. "I'd like to have a name picked out, though. That way I can actually say his name when I'm talking about him."
"We'll think of something," I said, giving him a smile before pressing my lips on his. However, the doorbell rang shortly after, so Grayson got off the couch to answer it. We were having quite a few people over today. Belle thought it would be fun to have a couple's game night, so we were having Belle, Devon, Thalia, Roland, and even Elliot and Laughlin over.
Elliot and Laughlin were the first ones here and they had to bring Munro and Nick as well since Laughlin didn't trust Munro enough to leave them home alone, even for a few hours. Grayson set up my PS3 in our bedroom for them so they could either play games or watch Netflix.
Belle and Devon then showed up, followed by Thalia and Roland. After quick introductions, since it was the first time Elliot and Laughlin met everyone else, Belle pulled out a board game from a bag. "A board game?" Grayson whined. "Really?"
"Yes, really," Belle said. "So shut up and play."
The games she chose was The Game of Life, which I guess wasn't that bad. Apparently, she wanted to bring Monopoly, but Devon convinced her otherwise. Thank goodness.
Since there were only six cars, we were going to play as couples. There was a huge argument between Laughlin and Grayson about who was going to have the blue car. Grayson wanted it because there was no black and his second favorite color was blue. Laughlin wanted it because it matched Elliot's eyes.
"Can you two shut up?" Elliot snapped. "It's just a color!"
"I want the blue one, though," Laughlin said.
"So do I," Grayson said. "It's my house."
"It's not your game."
"We're playing it in my house, though."
"We'll take the red car," I said, before taking it from the pile.
"What?" Grayson asked.
Laughlin smiled, but then immediately frowned when Elliot took the white car. "There, now you both don't get blue. You two are the oldest ones here, yet you're acting like the youngest. Grow up."
"I don't support this," Laughlin said. "You're not in charge of me, Elliot."
"Do you want me to withhold kissing from you?" Elliot asked with a raised eyebrow.
Laughlin didn't want to take any chances with her. "You know, I'm suddenly liking the color white," he said. "After all, it matches the, um, white part of your eye."
"Better."
The game started calmly, thankfully. Well, only for a minute. Then Grayson and I ended up taking the career Belle and Devon wanted. Grayson was the one who chose it and he was making quite a few enemies today.
At one part of the game, Grayson and I landed on the space that said baby boy. Belle handed us a blue piece. "So, what are you going to name him?" she asked. "And don't pick a name like Kumquat." She glared at Devon, who smiled in return. They got a girl in the game, and Devon decided to name her Kumquat.
"Uh... We'll name him..." Grayson said. It was just part of the game, but now it felt like we were back picking a name for our son. "Grayson Jr."
"We're not naming him that," I said. "How about Caleb?"
"How about no?"
"Jacob?"
"No."
"Gabe?'
"No G's. Not going to do what my parents did."
"Cory?"
"No."
"For the love of God, just pick a name!" Belle said. "It's not that hard!"
"Says you, Kumquat," Grayson shot back.
"Hey, I didn't choose that name," Belle pointed out. "My idiot of a boyfriend did."
"I'm not an idiot," Devon objected.
Belle looked at Devon. "You named our daughter after a fruit."
"Princess Peach."
"What?"
"Peach is a fruit."
"That's a game!"
"This is a game!"
Thalia sighed. "Can you two just pick a name?" she asked Grayson and I. "It's a game, so you're not actually going to us it if you ever have kids."
"Yeah, Grayson," I said. "It's a game. We're not actually going to use it.
"Fine, his name is Alan," Grayson said. "It's either Alan or Grayson Jr."
"Or Munro!" Munro suddenly called from the bedroom.
"Shut it, devil spawn!"
"Who's that?" Belle asked.
"My brother," Laughlin replied. "For some reason, Grayson can't get along with him."
"He called me an old man," Grayson said.
"That was months ago!" Munro called. "Get over it! You don't want to hold any grudges when you die shortly of old age!"
"Knock it off, Munro, or I'll take away your PS4 at home!" Laughlin called.
"Fight me! Wait... Never mind! I'll shut up!"
A name suddenly came into my head. I didn't know why, but it did. And I really liked it. "Ryder," I told Grayson.
"What?"
"What about Ryder?" I asked with a hopeful smile.
"In the game or..."
"Real life."
"Wait," Elliot said, a smile growing on her face. "You're having a boy?" When Grayson nodded, she punched him. "Why didn't you tell me?!"
"We found out yesterday," Grayson said. "We were going to tell you, but then there was the whole thing where you got engaged..."
Elliot sighed. "We've been over this, Grayson. And the wedding is next month, so get over it."
"Hold on," Thalia said. "I'm a little lost here. Wedding? Boy?"
"Laughlin and Elliot are engaged," Grayson said. "And Elliot never told me when it happened. She posted it online."
"Yeah, well you never told me you and Poppy are having a baby."
"We did tell you! You were the first to know!"
"She told me by accident!"
"Why are we arguing about this again?"
"Because you're an idiot!"
"You're an idiot!"
"Guys!" I said. "Knock it off, will you? We got passed this like, two months ago. We don't have to argue about it again." The finally stopped arguing, thankfully, so I looked at Thalia. "To answer your question about the boy, I'm pregnant and yesterday, Grayson and I found out that it's a boy."
Thalia looked shocked to hear that. "Really? W-wow."
"I know," I said. "I was shocked when I found out."
"Poppy, did you tell anyone that you're having a boy?" Belle spoke up. "Because you never told us..."
"I told my parents," I said. "My mom wouldn't stop asking so I had to tell her. It sort of slipped our minds about telling everyone else that knows we're expecting."
"Laughlin!" Nick suddenly called as he rushed into the living room and sat on his brother's lap. He looked really pale.
"What's wrong?"
"Munro told me how babies are made."
"For the love of... MUNRO!"
"Yes?" Munro asked, popping his head out of the bedroom door. He had a devious smile on his face.
And that did not make Laughlin happy. "I'm taking your PS4 for two weeks."
"What?!" Munro asked. "You can't do that!"
"Yes, I can," Laughlin said. "I told you not to tell Nick these stuff. He's nine!"
"He's going to find out anyway!"
"When he's older," Laughlin said. "Go back in the room and play the PS3. You better savor it because as soon as we leave, you're grounded. Again."
Munro groaned and went back to the bedroom. Nick squeezed himself beside Laughlin and Elliot, so there was less room on the couch. In fact, I was halfway sitting on Grayson's lap.
Which I didn't mind at all.
"Can we just finish the game?" Belle asked. "Then we can watch a movie or do anything else that won't lead to arguing."
It was Thalia and Roland's turn and while they were going, Grayson looked at me. "By the way, I like the name Ryder," he said.
"Really?" I asked.
Grayson nodded and smiled. "Really. Ryder it is."
