Chapter 81
Chapter 5
I groaned when my alarm went off, still wanting to sleep. I was working so hard on my assignment and I didn't get that much done. I probably fell asleep around midnight and it was now seven in the morning. My class started in an hour.
I turned off my alarm and turned to my side, seeing Grayson still sound asleep. He definitely fell asleep after midnight since I fell asleep before he even came home. It must have been some party.
"Grayson," I said, scooting closer to him. When he didn't move, I sighed. He had the same class as me and there was no way he could miss out on it. Missing even one class in university was extremely difficult. "Grayson. Grayson!"
He groaned and stirred before opening his eyes, looking very exhausted. "What?" he whined.
"We have to get up," I said.
He sighed and covered his eyes with his muscular arm. "I don't want to," he said. "I'm tired and my head hurts."
"Did you drink last night?" I asked. I had never been around Grayson when he drank, mainly because he only did it at parties and I rarely went to them.
"Possibly," he said. "Who throws a party on a Wednesday?"
"Who goes to parties on Wednesdays?" I pointed out.
"Touche," he muttered.
I sat up and got out of bed. "How about you sleep for a bit longer while I make breakfast? Eggs and bacon?"
"Yes, please," he said, sitting up to kiss my cheek before laying back down.
I went to the kitchen and began making breakfast for me and Grayson. We normally had something quick to eat but he had a headache so I thought he should have something that filled him up more.
While the eggs and bacon were cooking, I went back to our room to get changed. Might as well get ready while breakfast was getting mad to save more time.
I put on a pair of sweats and one of Grayson's shirts because I wasn't really in the mood to dress up nice. That was what hours of homework did to me.
By the time I was changed and my hair was brushed, breakfast was ready. I got out two plates and put the food on it before calling Grayson's name. He walked out of the room, rubbing his eyes. His blonde hair was sticking out all over the place. He sat down at the table and began quietly eating his food.
When I finished eating, surprisingly before Grayson, I went to the washroom to go brush my teeth. It was only seven-thirty by then, meaning I had sometime to spare before heading off to class. Normally, I would put on make up but I was too tired to do so.
I decided to watch some TV before I had to leave. Grayson finished eating then and after dropping his plate in the sink, he sat down beside me. "How far are you on your assignment?" he asked.
"A bit more than halfway," I said. "I have to do a lot tonight."
"Same," he said. "When I get home after my last class, that's all we'll do, work on the assignment together."
"Promise?" I asked. That was what I really needed; to have Grayson work on his will I did mine so I could ask for help.
"Yeah, I promise," he said, wrapping his arm around me. "Even if I still have a headache. I have to get mine done after all." He kissed my forehead and turned off the TV, pulling me up from the couch. "How about we go to the cafe and get some coffee and cookies? That will help us stay awake."
"Sounds good," I said. We grabbed out bags from our bedroom and headed out of the apartment.
Right as we were about to leave the building, Belle suddenly walked up to us. "Can I talk to Poppy for a bit?" she asked Grayson.
"Whatever, devil spawn," Grayson said, glaring at Belle. What was up with him and calling Belle a devil spawn?"
Belle grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from Grayson. "There's something I have to tell you," she said.
"Yeah, that's what I got when you asked to talk to me," I said. "What's up?"
"It's about Mina," Belle said. "I thought she would give up her crush on Grayson when she found out he has a girlfriend, but I was wrong. At the party, she was there and she was constantly hitting on Grayson. Grayson, however, told her that he has a girlfriend and ignored her the rest of the night. But that didn't stop her. She kept trying to flirt with him and it was getting really annoying."
"I have to admit, I'm not that surprised," I said. "Why do some girls go for unavailable guys? I mean, can't they respect other people's relationships?"
"Obviously not," Belle said. "Anyway, Grayson ended up getting really drunk last night."
"I kind of figured that," I said.
"But he basically passed out after he got drunk and Devon and I stayed with him the whole time," Belle said. "So, you were right about him not doing anything to hurt you when he was drunk."
"See?" I said.
"I just wanted to tell you what happened last night," she said. "And warn you about Mina. She seemed very pissed when Grayson ignored her."
"Thanks," I said. "Now if you'll excuse me, Grayson and I need some serious coffee because we need to stay awake."
I walked back to Grayson and he took my hand in his as we walked out of the building. "So, what did she want to talk to you about?" he asked.
"She just wanted to tell me about the party," I said. "And how one girl is probably pissed at me right now."
"Why would someone be pissed at you?" he asked.
"Remember Belle's friend that told me my boyfriend is a baby for complaining about a cut on his finger?" I asked. Grayson nodded. "Yeah, her. She's not really fond of me, nor am I fond of her, but I don't care."
"What's the girls name?" Grayson asked.
"Mina," I said.
"Mina Bennet?" Grayson asked. I shrugged since I didn't know her last name. "The girl who was with you and Belle at the cafe yesterday." I nodded. "Huh. Well, at least I know now who called me a baby. But face it, I make a hella sexy baby."
I rolled my eyes at the words Grayson was constantly using to describe himself. Almost everyday, he called himself hella sexy. One time, his grandma told me a story about when he was wearing a dress and was dancing around the house and when I laughed, he told me he looked hella sexy in the dress.
When we got to the cafe, we both ordered a coffee and two of our favorite cookies. I tried paying for my stuff, but Grayson wouldn't let me. In fact, he told me, "Put your damn wallet back in your bag before I throw it across the room." There were times he tried acting like a gentleman when he really wasn't.
I didn't want to go to class, but I had to. It was so boring for me. I loved biology and anything that had to do with underwater life, but there were times where I couldn't focus in class at all.
My last class finally finished and I went back to my apartment. Grayson had one more class, so I had to wait for him to be done before we could work on our assignment together. Luckily his class was only an hour long so I didn't have to wait too long for him.
When an hour of me pigging out on food and watching TV passed, I set up my laptop and started working, knowing Grayson was going to be home soon. Ten minutes passed and he wasn't back yet. I thought he probably stopped by the cafe first, but half an hour passed and he still didn't show up.
I sighed as I continued working on my project. It was a bit hard for me, especially because I was stuck on one part. I needed Grayson here because he understood biology more than me.
When three quarters of an hour passed, I decided to call him. However, while I waited for him to pick up, I heard his phone ringing in the kitchen. I glanced over, seeing his cell phone on the counter. Great, now I had no way to reach him.
I sat back down at the table, staring at my computer screen. After a few more minutes, I finally figured out the hard part and began typing. I still wasn't close to finishing and it was almost five o'clock. I was starting to get hungry and not wanting to cook a meal, I decided to order pizza.
I thought Grayson would have at least be home before the pizza delivery guy came. Nope. He was still out and I still had to do the assignment by myself when I was really needing the help.
Hoping Belle finished her assignment, I called her. "Hello?" she answered.
"Hi," I said. "Did you finish your assignment?'
Belle sighed. "No, I'm working on it right now. In hindsight, it was probably a bad idea to go to that party last night."
"No kidding," I said. "I'm really stuck right now and I was hoping you finished so you could help me."
"No can do," she said with another sigh. "I'm probably just as stuck as you are, if not more. You had time to do it while we were at the party. Why not get Grayson to help?"
"He was supposed to, but he's not home," I said. "His class ended almost two hours ago and I have no idea where he is."
"Did you try calling him?" Belle asked.
"He left his cell phone here," I said. "Well, I should get back to work. Good luck with your assignment."
"You too," Belle said before we both hung up.
When it was around eight o'clock, Grayson walked into the apartment. "Hey, Flower," he said. I didn't answer as I kept working. He walked to the table. "I said hey."
"I heard," I muttered.
"You seem mad," he said.
"Mad?" I asked sarcastically. "Why would you ever think that?"
"So you are mad?" he asked. Wow, he was really clueless right now. When I didn't answer, he glanced at my computer. "What are you working on?"
"The Intro to Biology assignment," I said. "You know, the one you said we'll work on together after your last class."
"Oh, crap! Poppy, I am so sorry!" he said. "Some people needed help understanding the lecture today in my Intro to Animal Science class since the professor left after it was over."
"They needed help for four hours?" I asked.
"No, only about an hour," he said. "But I have a group project in that class and we decided to meet up then."
"So you basically ditched me and didn't tell me," I said.
"Poppy, I completely forgot," he said. "I'm sorry."
I finished the last part just then and saved it before closing my laptop. "It's not just about you forgetting," I said. "You promised me and you know how much your promises mean to me."
"Poppy..."
I stood up from the table. "I'm going to bed early. I need a lot of sleep after working on the assignment. Alone." I walked into our bedroom, placing my laptop on my dresser before changing into my pajamas and climbing into bed. Even though it was only eight, I was dead tired. Hopefully I wouldn't get any more dreadful assignments like that.
