Chapter 33
Chapter 2
It turned out that the new kid's name was Henry and he was a real jerk. He was only in one of my classes, but he always sat beside me and was constantly flirting with me. I guessed he didn't know that I had a boyfriend, who was the boy Henry almost got beat up by. I was tempted to tell him, but I was just waiting for it to punch him in the face.
I was a bit surprised Henry never knew that Grayson was my boyfriend. Grayson and I were always together when we had the chance.
"Hey, Poppy," Henry said as the bell to end second period rang. "How does a date Friday night sound?"
I raised an eyebrow, trying my best not to laugh in his face. "Horrible, actually."
"Seriously?" Henry asked. "You should be honored to go on a date with me. Many girls would die if I asked them out."
He was such an obnoxious person. Did he really think that highly of himself? I was so close to shaking my head.
"Fine," I said with a smile. "On one condition. My boyfriend comes along as well."
"You have a boyfriend?" Henry asked. "Nah, I don't believe it."
I rolled my eyes, packing my supplies in my bag before heading out the door. However, Henry didn't give up and followed my down the hallway. "Can you just leave me alone?" I asked.
"I just want to know if you will go out with me on Friday," he said.
I stopped and turned to face him. "The answer is no, for two reasons. One, you seem like a jerk and I don't date those. And two, I have a boyfriend."
"I still don't believe it," Henry said.
I groaned and walked away from him. How was I going to get him to leave me alone?
When I got to my locker to put my stuff away, I was happy to see that Grayson was there waiting for me. Grayson must have known something was bothering me by the way I slammed my locker shut. "Alright, Flower," he said. "What did the locker ever do to you?"
I sighed and shook my head. "It's not the locker. It's Henry."
"And who is this Henry?"
"Remember the guy you were close to beating up a few days ago?" I asked and Grayson nodded. "That's Henry. What did he say that got you mad, anyway? You never told me."
Grayson scoffed. "That's because you shouldn't hear what he said. Let's just say if someone talks about my girlfriend in such a way, they better run." So Henry said something about me that made Grayson made and cause Tony to give him three days of detention. That made sense. Tony may be a teacher, but I was still his little sister. "Is he bothering you? Because I will handle it if he is."
"Don't fight him," I said. "He's just constantly asking me out even though I told him I have a boyfriend. He doesn't believe me. But whatever. Let's just get some lunch."
After Grayson and I got our lunch from the cafeteria, we sat down at a regular table with Belle. Grayson didn't exactly like Belle, but I told him to deal with it. She was my best friend after all and I knew her way longer than I had known Grayson.
I sat down beside Belle, causing Grayson to glare at me as he sat across from me. I blew him a kiss as he shook his head.
Henry suddenly sat down at our table, right beside Grayson in fact. And if looks could kill, Henry would have died a long time ago. "So, Poppy," Henry said, not noticing the look Grayson was giving. "About Friday..."
He was cut off when Grayson punched his shoulder. "Dude!" Henry exclaimed. 'What the hell was that for?!"
"Hit on my girlfriend again and your shoulder won't be the only target," Grayson threatened.
"I tried to tell you," I told Henry. Really, it was his fault for not listening to me. He had it coming.
"You didn't have to punch me so hard," Henry said, rubbing his shoulder. He then looked around the cafeteria before calling my brother over. One thing I hated about having my brother as a teacher at my school was that he always seemed to be wherever I was. "Mr. McCormick, I was just having a conversation when Grayson punched me."
"Conversation?" Grayson repeated. "You were asking my girlfriend out when she told you she had a boyfriend."
"I can get him to take my side," Henry said quietly enough so Tony wouldn't hear. He then faced my brother. "I never knew Poppy actually had a boyfriend. I was politely asking her if she would like to see a movie on Friday, but then Grayson punched me." Wow, he was one to twist the truth.
"That is the complete opposite of the truth," I said. "I told you twice that I have a boyfriend. You just chose not to believe me."
Tony sighed. "I don't want to deal with this every day. Henry, after what you said a few days ago that caused you to get detention, I have a hard time believing you. Grayson, get your anger under control. If you hit someone or attempt to hit someone again, you will be getting detention."
"Whatever," Grayson mumbled as Tony walked away.
"As I was saying," Henry said, turning to face me. "Friday sound good?" Was he for real?
Suddenly, his leg banged against the table and he grabbed it in pain. "Ow!"
"Sorry, my foot slipped," Belle lied with a small smile.
Henry muttered something under his breath as he left the table. Seriously though, what was up with that kid? He knew I had a boyfriend, and he was still asking me out. I didn't know if he was serious or if he was doing it to get a reaction from Grayson, but still. He was so obnoxious.
Grayson stood up from the table, looking extremely pissed off. I reached across the table and grabbed his hands. "Just leave him," I said. "He'll get over himself."
Belle snorted. "With an ego that big? I doubt it."
"Not helping," I told her before turning back to Grayson. "Just sit down and ignore him." I pulled him towards me and pressed my lips against his. I felt him loosen up, thankfully.
"Yeah, can you two not do that around me?" Belle interrupted, causing me to pull away from Grayson. He sat back down with a sigh, turning his attention back to his lunch. He began eating it in a grumpy mood. My boyfriend, everyone. The world's newest grumpy cat.

"No, don't do that!" Grayson said, looking at me in a disgusted way. "What did they ever do to you?"
"Are you serious?" I asked. "One, they were in my way and two, whenever you play, you run around the streets shooting everyone who you think looks ugly. That's really biased."
Grayson snorted. "Biased? They were hurting my eyes by their ugliness. I couldn't concentrate."
"It's a game," I said.
Grayson took the controller out of my hand and shook his hand. "If you are going to shoot someone, make sure you take their money as well. We're running out of money."
"Yeah, because you bought yet another car," I said. "We already have three, we don't need anymore."
"You can never have enough cars," Grayson told me. "We always seem to destroy them anyway."
I scoffed. "Says the one who crashes the cars into numerous police cars. I haven't destroyed a single car."
"You drove one into the water," Grayson reminded.
I shrugged and turned my attention back to the game. Grayson, like usually, was being chased by the cops but this time it was for robbing the store. He even killed the cashier who didn't even pull out a gun.
"No!" Grayson exclaimed as he was shot down by the cops, something that rarely happened. He got cornered this time and wasn't able to escape. "Great, now our car was impounded by the cops. I'm sad now."
I gave Grayson a quick kiss to make him feel better before taking the controller back. That was our basic routine whenever we played GTA V. Sometimes we would play online together when we were at our own houses, but we took turns whenever he was at my house or vice versa.
"We're poor, we can't afford to get the car back," Grayson said.
"So we don't pay," I said. "Come on, you've done this before."
Dad came down to the basement and stood in front of the TV, making me frown. He was so lucky I never got to the police station yet. "Yes?"
"You two have been on that all day," Dad said. "Get some fresh air."
I sighed, turning off the game and standing up from the couch. I pulled up Grayson, which was quite the struggle because he didn't want to get up. Finally, though, he got up from the couch. I pulled him up the stairs and outside of my house.
We went for a walk around the block, but I started noticing something about Grayson. He seemed like he was distracted and lost in thought. "Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Hmm?" Grayson muttered, looking at me with a confused look.
I stopped walking. "I asked if everything is okay. Is it?"
"Uh, yeah," Grayson said, but I knew him well enough to tell that he was lying. I raised an eyebrow, pulling my hand out of his to cross my arms over my chest. He sighed, rubbing his forehead. "I'm fine, Poppy."
Once again, I knew he was lying. He only ever called me Poppy when he was angry and he currently wasn't angry. "Just tell me, Grayson," I said. "I thought you trusted me with everything."
"I'm serious," he said. "I'm fine. I'm just tired, that's all. Can we go back?"
I nodded as we turned around to head back to my house. I really hoped Grayson really was just tired and nothing was going on.
