Chapter 1 PROLOGUE
"What do you mean they stopped giving you your allowance?" I asked as I bent down and started fixing Kyle's shoelace.
If there are two bunny ears, make a loop and put the loop in between the bunny ears... right?
"They stopped giving me my money, that's it. Simple!" Charlie groaned, waving his arm above him. "And I have no idea why'd they do that!"
I have an idea. It starts with "your" and ends with "girlfriend".
"They're really rich but no! They want me to work my a-" Seeing my murderous threatening glare, he immediately covered it with, "-ash." He coughed, "They want me to work my ash off."
Ashe? Really?
"That's not even a nice save." I frowned at him. After knotting the lace, I stood up and patted Kyle's brown hair. "There ya go."
He raised his head and grinned happily, "Thanks Chel."
"No problem, now go, continue playing with your buddies." I smiled back, giving him a slight push.
"Thanks again!" He called out as he runs towards the other room.
Brushing the imaginary specks of dust off my butt, I stood up and asked him, "So, where were we?"
"In your dumb daycare place." He muttered sarcastically and stood up, shooting the squeaky ball he was holding to my trash bin.
He better picks that ball up later.
My eyes widened, "This 'dumb daycare place' has a name you know."
"Yeah. Yeah. Whatever." He pouted as he sat back on my desk.
I gave him a big fat scowl and pointed at my sofa. "You know, there's that really huge warm and comfortable couch over there-"
"Nah, I'm fine." He grinned cheekily.
Charlie...
I forcefully push him off my desk. "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!" I copied the Red Queen's famous line, including her accent.
Charlie fell on the floor with a loud thud. If I didn't see his smirk, I would have thought that he was badly injured.
"Shit, that hurts." He rubbed his butt and playfully glared at me, "You shouldn't have done that."
"But I did." I widened my eyes, daring him to do something.
"...... TICKLER THE MONSTER IS HERE!!" He growled out, making me screech loudly when he jumped on me and started tickling me.
"Staaahp!" I laughed as I try pushing his hands off of me. "DUDE!"
"This is what you get for hurting mah beautiful butt!" He poked my tummy, my neck, heck, even my armpits!
"No!" I felt tears brimming in my eyes as I continue laughing like crazy. "Stop that!"
He stopped when his phone rang. Still, on top of me, he answered his phone. "Hello?"
In the way his eyes lit up, I immediately knew who he is talking with.
Hannah.
His eyes widened and stood up, "Wha-? Uh... Sure. Alright. I love you."
Amazing.
He hung up the phone and stared at me with pleading eyes, "Please please please please please help me find a job right now."
"Wha- why?"
"Hannah-" Told ya. "-wanted some new shoes for her birthday."
I raised an eyebrow, "So?"
"I told you, my parents cut my allowance off. I need actual money to actually buy actual shoes." He stressed out every word he said, making me raise my eyebrow higher.
"You work at that illegal underground place, right?"
"I do. But she wants Prada."
"So?"
"It's pretty expensive! The money I'm earning from the fights is only good for me to survive college life!"
"Then don't buy her 'Prada'. Simple." I scoffed, mocking him. I stood up and sat on my chair.
"But she needs it."
I sighed, "No, she doesn't. You just bought her a pair of Valentino's last week."
He sighs. "Help me find a job. Please?"
So now he's ignoring the Valentino topic. As usual.
"Charlie, there's a reason why your parents did that." I explained, "They want you to stop pampering that spoiled girl you call your girlfriend!"
"Stop that." He frowned, "She's not spoiled."
Ya-huh?
Even a blind man can see her using you.
Even a deaf man can hear her spending your money.
"Whatever she is, I'm not helping you out. I'm with your parents with this one."
"But I'm your best friend!"
I know. "Which is why I want the best for you." I muttered, "I want you to be happy, Charlie."
"And I will be. I will be happy if she's happy." He pouted, "Please, if you want my happiness, then help me land a job."
I don't want to, I really don't.
I can't help him, I really won't.
"Well, you have no skills." I tried to reason out, "You suck at cooking, you suck at washing the dishes, you suck at drawing; no offense, but you suck at everything"
He scoffed, "I'm 19 and I do not live with my parents, that just shows that I'm responsible enough to be alone!"
"I'm your dorm mate." I gave him a flat look. "I'm practically your unpaid helper."
"No, you're my best friend." He grinned, putting an arm around my shoulders, "Now, will you be one right now?"
I shook my head, "No."
"Oh come on!" He groaned, waving his hands in the air, "PLEAAAASE." He pouted.
Be strong.
"No."
"Pweaaaase." He gave me his irresistible puppy look.
And irresistible it is.
So I answered him with something that I know I'll regret sooner or later.
"Fine," I muttered which made him grin and sparkle a look in his eye.
I'm regretting it now.
