Chapter 78 Supportive
"You got to be shitting me."
I immediately pulled away from Jay's lips after hearing my brother's bothered voice.
Seeing my uncomfortable look, Jay muttered the cliché words. "It is not what it looks like."
Really?
What I'm saying is that, it is what it looks like; I mean, what's the other explanation? Jay was literally right in front of me and his mouth was latched on mine. Oh, probably because of the he is a cannibal and loves human lips? Of course not. Hmph, if the shoe fits then it is what it is.
"You cursed." I frowned while crossig my arms. "That's inappropriate."
"You were doing something inappropriate," My very lovely brother rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders. "It's reasonable."
"No, it isn't..." Jay muttered awkwardly while scratching the back of his head.
"Shut up, Emerson."
He sighed, "Shutting up."
"Elliot!" I frowned, "You didn't have to be so mean!"
Jay gave me a reassuring smile and gave my hand a light squeeze. "It's okay, Riles."
"Didn't I tell you to shut up?" El frowned while walking towards us and snatched my arm, "And don't touch her. Don't look at her. Don't do anything with her."
I forcedully pulled my arm away and glared at him, "Sorry not sorry but you're not my father, El."
"But I am someone important in your life."
"And this is my life."
"But I am your brother."
"I make my own decisions."
"But I am your older brother."
Grunting out because of irritation, I put my hands on my hips and asked, "So? So what if you're my older brother?"
"That means that I have the rights to act like our father." He smiled sarcastically, "Let's go."
"No," I gasped when he started pulling me, well, more of dragging me. "Elliot!"
Suddenly, I was pulled towards a hard chest, Jay's hard chest. "Bro, don't force your sister to do something she doesn't want to do."
El's eyes widened and anger was crawling in his eyes. "Stay out of this, Emerson."
"No." Jay frowned, "I know that you don't know that I love your sister-"
"I know." El rolled his eyes.
"Well what's the problem then?"
"I know, I understand it. I just don't accept it."
I raised an eye brow, "What's there to accept?"
This time, they were the one to frown and asked, "What?"
I shrugged my shoulders, "We're not in a relationship."
"We aren't?" Jay asked, at the same time, El asked, "You aren't?"
"We aren't." I nodded, "He hadn't ask me or anything, so I'm still technically single."
I looked at Jay and waited for him to actually ask me out when he just simply nodded slowly and faced Elliot. "Let's go to the real topic here, shall we?"
That butt!
Is he really not planning to ask me out or something? He's such a butt sometimes; no, always!
"Topic? What topic?" El asked, crossing his arms with a business look plastered on his face. "I only went here for free dinner, but instead of seeing a tasty meal, I'm greeted with a shocking revelation."
Elliot with foods; of course.
Jay cleared his throat and crossed his arms. "I told her about D.A.C."
"You what?!" El asked indecrously. "Are you crazy?"
"About her, yes. But mentally, not quite." Jay's answer shocked me a little bit but I shrugged it off.
"It was a rhetorical question, idiot."
"And that was sarcasm, stupid."
"Stupid?!" El scoffed, "The only thing stupid other than you in this room is the fact that you told her about the corporation!"
Why are they talking like I'm not here?
"She was bound to know this."
"She wasn't supposed to get involve with this!"
"But she will eventually!"
"But not now!"
I cut them off with a shout, "WHAT IS THIS EXACTLY?!"
El sighed, "It's nothing."
"I know about D.A.C already." I sighed, "What's more to know?"
El gulped, "Nothing."
"Just say it."
He sighed, "People involve with the corporation tends to die."
"Stop being over dramatic." I reasoned out, "Everyone's going to die someday; no one lives forever."
"What I mean is that people tends to die earlier than the year they should die." He shrugged, "It's a fact."
"Okay...?"
"We have this quote actually." He coughed, "It's either to kill or to get killed."
"Can I choose "or" ?" I joked with a laugh but immediately shut my mouth when I realized that he was serious.
"Continue..." I muttered awkwardly. And the supportive brother award goes to...!
"So, the corporation tends to unwillingly hurt people." He started, "And unfortunately, he's part of it." He ended that up while pointing to where Jay was standing.
"Is that the reason why you can't accept us?"
"There's an us?" Jay snorted, "I'm shocked."
Whatever.
"Partly, yes." El nodded, "But mostly because of the fact that he's my best friend and you're my little sister."
"Oh..." I trailed off, before asking him a question that popped in my mind. "Are you part of D.A.C. ?"
"Yes." He nodded, "That's why I'm usually out of town; it's either I'm doing a job, or keeping you safe."
"Keeping me safe?" I asked indecrously, "Brother, my lovely brother, can you please help me recall our father's lovely job when he was still at his teens?"
"A bad boy inside the chicken suit?"
I rolled my lips inside to stop myself from laughing, but a smile did slip. "Not that, his other job."
"An underground fighter?"
I nodded, "An illegal underground fighter."
"So?"
"So, it means that there are people who will constantly wants me dead."
"Riley!" El and Jay frowned, which made me roll my eyes.
"It's the truth." I snapped back, "Besides, I know how to protect myself."
Just as I expected, Elliot raised his hand and was about to pull my hair when I dodged it and grabbed his arm, giving it a tight twist, which made him groan by the way.
I smirked, "I told you, I know how to protect myself."
With a grunt, El slipped out of my grip and glared at me, "Well not all criminals will go and pull your hair."
"It's fine." I smiled, "I'm ready."
Sighing, he fixed his posture. "Okay."
Smiling, I asked him, "Does that mean that you're going to allow me to actually go out with Jay?"
Through my peripheral vision, he opened his mouth and was about to say something when I cut him off, "If we're going to go out or something."
Elliot simply rolled his eyes with a slight smile and turned around. "Whatever, Riley." With that, he started walking towards the door.
That has to be a yes!
"Hey El!" Jay called out.
Not stopping on his tracks, he asked. "Yeah?"
"You're not going to eat or something?"
"Nah."
"Hey El!" Jay called out again, and this time, El actually stopped and turned around. "What?"
"I'm going to ask your sister out for a date!" What made me shock was how casual he actually said it.
El smiled sarcastically and raised his middle finger, "F*ck off, Emerson."
And with that, he left the mansion. Leaving me and the Emersons all alone.
Great.
