Chapter 107 Questions
"You know what is weird?" I asked my handsome date for this beautiful night as I munch on my juicy and delicious burger, "I have not heard from Jay."
El raised a perfectly groomed eyebrow. 'You have not told him that you are back in town?"
'Well, I guess I assumed that my parents already told him or something," I squinted my eyes and put the burger down. I picked up a fry and dipped it in my special ketchup mixed with mayonnaise sauce. 'Should I give him a call?"
'Wait, so he does not know that you are back in town?"
I shook my head no and said, 'Nope."
Jay is an obnoxious, arrogant, sometimes sweet, and cold-blooded piece of work. Have I mentioned that he is also my twin brother? Yeah, unfortunately, he is.
Do not get me wrong, I love him. I mean, it is really just because I grew up with him and all. And to be frank, the only time I probably really liked him was when we were both in my mother's womb because you know, we have not murdered each other for nine months. Then again, maybe we did try but we just forgot about it. I mean, it has been a very long time since that might have possibly happen.
Elliot's emerald eyes widened and he looked shocked. "But… why? What?"
This time, I was the one who raised an eyebrow and took a bite of my burger before asking him, "Why do you seem more surprised than I am?"
He frowns and offered me some of his fries. "I called him at the police station when your car got lost."
What? 'Jay knew that I was in prison and he did not even bother calling me?" I gasped loudly.
That son of a female mother goat. And I thought we were twins. Siblings. Wow. I cannot believe that I was stuck with him for nine months in my mother's womb only for him to not hit me up when he learned that his only sister got in jail! That little chicken nugget mixed with gravy and dipped in salsa! I am so going to shave his hair off like what I did when he pulled that stupid birthday prank on me when I was eleven.
Ah, I can still remember it like it happened yesterday. I woke up feeling like a princess. All giddy and sparkly. I literally wore a neon yellow sparkly wig before I slept because I wanted to wake up like a princess. So to my surprise, I looked at my mirror only for me to see these hideous stickers stuck on where my eyebrows should be. Angry, I yanked it off. And you can guess what happened. Because of that, while he was sleeping at the same night, I took my dad's shaver and used it on his hair. So, yes. My dumb brother waxed off my eyebrows, and I made him bald.
I fumed a little bit and asked, "Where is he anyway?"
Elliot shrugs as he took a big sip on his coke.
That is weird. Elliot and Jay are close. I wonder why he does not know where my brother is. Oh well, maybe Riley knows where he is.
Riley is Elliot's one and only sister. She's also the youngest. She's pretty, sweet, kind, and have I mentioned that she's head over hills in love with my dumb brother? And Jay being Jay, he coldly pushes her away. But they're friends though. But still, he's really harsh towards her. Such a pity because I swear, they look sweet together.
I mean, that was like a year ago. But I do remember something that had happened a few months ago. I caught Elliot here beating my brother because I think Jay and Riley were dating but not dating? I'm not sure, gosh.
But either way, wherever Jay is, Elliot's sister knows where he is.
"Where is Riley?" I asked him as I took a sip on his coke.
'Huh," Elliot frowns. 'I also do not know."
I chuckled and teased him, 'Someone is losing his touch."
I told him this because Elliot tends to become this overly possessive Alpha-like brother towards Riley. I personally find it adorable and amusing. But if Jay acts that way to me, uh-uh, no way. I will most likely kick Jay's nuts if he dares try to tell me what to wear or what to do. Especially if he has to know where I am in every minute of the day. That would be frustratingly annoying. And that is what he already is even if he was not acting like one.
Elliot mockingly rolled his eyes. "Let me call her." He grabs his phone and asked me, "Do you mind?"
"Gosh no," I snorted. "She is probably the only person who knows where my brother is."
He suddenly scowls. He then typed something down on his phone before putting it beside his ear.
I chuckled because he is just too cute. He has always been overprotective of his little sister. Well, younger because Riley's nineteen, and she is really not little anymore. But if I try to tell him that, I am sure that that scowl will be because of me.
After a minute or so, his scowl deepens. I grabbed his hand across the diner's table and asked him, "Is everything alright?"
He shook his head with a grunt. "She is not answering my calls."
Oh. If there is one thing that can piss an overprotective brother, that would be unanswered calls.
Worried for the both of them, I offered my help. "Do you want me to call my brother?"
'Never mind." He took his phone down while shaking his head no. "It is a date night; I don't want them to ruin our date."
"Okay." I quirked my lips to the right and continued munching on my burger.
"So, where did you go when you left town?" He asked me as he offered me more fries.
"I went to different places," I told him. 'Took pictures here and there. I guess I discovered my love for photography by doing so."
He smiles at me. 'Yeah, you are pretty talented."
'Thank you." I gave him a goofy smile. 'But, yeah. I traveled around America. Almost saw a ghost when I visited the Winchester Mystery House in Cali."
His crystal green eyes widened. 'What, really?"
I laughed. 'Yeah, it was creepy."
He blew out a whistle. 'My girlfriend is awesome."
'Yeah, she is." I giggled. 'We should definitely visit it together."
'Huh, is this what the teens call couple goals?" He asked.
I grinned at him. 'You bet."
Yup, Elliot and I are definitely couple goals. We are planning to visit a haunted mansion for one of our dates. I love it.
"So yeah," I shrugged. 'I eventually stayed in Connecticut for a month, then moved to Sacramento."
He whistles, "Big move."
I scoffed, "Yeah, but I still came back." Obviously.
He smiled warmly, "I'm glad you did."
Oh, darn that beautiful smile is brighter than the sun.
I smiled back. "I'm glad too."
"Oh, and about your Lexus,"
I gasped out loud. Oh my gosh, my baby! "Have you found it?"
'Not yet," He shook his head.
"Oh..."
"But we did get a report from a local resident that an expensive-looking car kept on passing by his house."
I felt relieved, "My baby's going to be home soon, huh?"
He adorably pouts, "I've always been home."
I rolled my eyes with a laugh, "You are such a baby."
He winks, "Only to you."
I felt the whole zoo trampling in my stomach. I giggled like a looney school girl because I can not help it. Elliot is too cute for his own good.
Suddenly, his phone rang. I took a sip of my milkshake when his eyes widened and a slow smile appeared in his face. "Riley returned my call."
"That's good," I happily grinned at him. 'See? She is still your little sister." I joked with a nod. 'What are you waiting for? Go on, take the call."
He returns my nod enthusiastically. He puts his phone near his ears and answered the call. "Riley?"
I smiled as I take some of his fries because mine are all finished and watch as his emerald green eyes darken. He clenched his jaw and I watched as his poor burger got squished when he had also clenched his hands around it.
I wonder what is wrong. Riley does not usually make Elliot act this way. I mean, yeah, I guess Elliot will get frustrated whenever Riley would skip classes to stalk my brother before, but I have never see Elliot Langston so… angry.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE MARRIED?!"
I gasped out loud. Wait what.
