Chapter 110 The Sons of a Snake
"YOU TRAITOR!" Elliot pounces on my brother, obviously forgetting the fact that he's a police officer, and screeches from Riley, my mom, and El's were so loud that it made me go blind.
Yes. You read that right.
"You seem calm," I told Vanchel without my eyes leaving the scene.
"Yeah," She sheepishly answered, "I've been in Charlie's fights in the Underground." She clears her throat, "This is nothing."
"Ah." I nodded because I totally understand. The Underground is an illegal place that is located under the grounds of Denovan where fights happen. It has been there for decades. No joke. It's the same place where both my dad and El's used to fight too.
Riley gasps as she tries to pull the men away from her now-husband, "What are you guys doing?! Stop this!"
Jay, my twin who can totally handle himself because he actually does work in my parents' assassination company, tries -and fails- to block the hits coming from Charlier and Elliot. My dad and Reed are the ones doing the easy job of blocking the scene, thus the reason why Riley is having a hard time stopping the commotion.
Charlie raised his magical baton and -thank goodness- only used it to poke my brother firmly, but not hard enough to actually stab him.
I munched some popcorn.
Riley starts to sob and pull away from Reed's grasps and runs towards the moms.
I munched more popcorn.
"Why are you guys crying?" She wipes a tear angrily, "What is happening here?"
"Where did I go wrong, Riles? I raised you properly and yet-" Chloe sniffs, "-and yet you married him without telling us!"
"WHAT?!" She shrieks, "I'M NOT MARRIED!"
I choked a little.
In just a snap of a finger, everyone stopped. The moms stopped crying, I tried to continue living from almost dying, and the men-acting-like-boys stopped beating my poor twin brother.
Except her, of course.
"Why do you guys keep on assuming things about me?!" She continues whining, "Remember the time where you guys thought that Jay and I were doing the deed when we haven't even done it that time!"
Uh. Yeah, I caught that too.
"I'm done with these assumptions!" She strolls back to the men-acting-like-boys and pulled her apparently not now-husband.
"Oh," She pouts at Jay while groping his cheeks -no, not the one located behind him, "Are you hurt?"
Uh.
"I'm confused," Charlie muttered while rubbing his magic baton on his fists, "You told Elliot a week ago that you got married."
"Fact." Elliot grunts.
"What?" Riley asked indecorously, "I didn't! I mean, why would I?"
Mom sniffs, "Because you're married-"
"I'm not!" Riley sighs exasperated.
Why do I have a feeling that something's not right? It seems like this is all a big puzzle and it's missing a piece...
Vanchel popped a handful of popcorn in her mouth.
"What's happening here?" Chloe asks. Good call.
Elliot scowls. "I called you last week."
Riley nods. "Yes, yes I did."
"You told me that you and Jay were in Vegas."
She nods. "Yes, yes that is true."
"You told me that you guys got married without telling us, your family."
Jay scoffs loudly while Riley snorts. Immediately, Riley frowns at my twin, "Even if that's not true, you have a problem with marrying me?"
His eyes softened, "No, I would love to marry you."
Is that counted as a proposal?
"Then why did you react like that?" Riley asks, "You act as if the idea is unbelievable."
He blinks, "I mean, the idea is stupid."
Vanchel and I reached out to the bowl of popcorn at the same time.
My twin brother, aka the moron, finally realized his mistake because he had a panic look all over his face, "I mean the idea of marrying you without telling our families is stupid." He reached out to her, "I love you Riles, and I would love to marry you."
Okay, I think that's a proposal...?
"No one is marrying anyone anytime soon." Reed voiced out as he steps forward, "What is happening here?"
Still awestruck, Riley faced all of us and explained, "Jay and I were in Vegas. That is true."
I was about to munch some more popcorn, but unfortunately, the bowl's empty except for some unpopped kernels.
I'm sorry teeth.
I munched on the unpopped kernels one piece at a time.
"But we didn't get married." Riley continues, "When I got the call from Elliot last week, I told him that Jay and I were having fun and decided to watch a random Vegas wedding."
All eyes were on Elliot. He frowns, "But..."
Charlie sighs through his nose and puts a hand on his forehead, "El, what did actually Riley tell you?"
Elliot blinks, "All I heard was Jay and I are in Vegas - got married - so fun."
Riley chuckled. "I said Jay and I are in Vegas, we're watching a random couple who just got married, it was so fun."
No one had to say it, because the word that we all unconsciously said was written on our faces, What?
"It was noisy," Jay muttered, "It is Vegas."
I blinked, "Then why were you guys there in the first place?"
"We were in hiding," Riley answered.
Jay nods, "Gil and Hibiscus might have apologized, but I still don't trust them."
Hill and a flower?
"Who?" My mom asked.
"Gil and Hibiscus are Anaconda's sons," Jay explained. Ish.
"I'm sorry, did you just say that a mountain and a flower are the sons of a snake?" I asked them out loud.
Jay rolls his eyes.
I'm lost.
"Anaconda was a five-star butthole," My dad answered for them.
"A cheater, a druggie, and a sore loser." Reed shrugs, "We met him in the Underground, long before you guys were even made."
Made? What? Did our parents order us in Amazon to be shipped to them?
"So just to be clear," Vanchel stood up. "My husband beat Jay up just because of a misunderstanding?"Yeah, sure. Let's go with that.
We all know it's Elliot's fault.
But I love him, so I'll keep that to myself.
Jay sighs, "I think we all learned an important lesson here."
"What's that, hun?" Our mom asked.
Riley smirks, a trademark Langston smirk, "Not to trust Elliot."
All eyes were on Elliot, who simply shrugs. "Sorry."
