Chapter 89 The Gala
It's bad enough that your boyfriend told you to prepare for a party in less than 6 hours, what's worse is that you attended the said party without knowing the theme.
I did ask him, I really did. His answer was, "It's a... uh... white."
"You racist!" I gasped out loud and pointed an accusing finger at him, "You people are racist!"
He sighed, "No, like, you need to wear white."
"Oh..." I cleared my throat, "Is it a formal party?"
"Nah." He shrugged, "You can actually wear whatever you like. Forget the color theme. As long as it's a... what do you call it.. a... I forgot." He shook his head, "It looks like the one you'll see in disney."
"What?"
"It has this poofy stuff..." He trailed off.
"A fairytale event?"
His eyes beamed and he snapped his fingers, "Exactly."
So here I am, outside the said gala. I glared at Jay as he simply smiled cheekily at me. He looked handsome with his white suit -he looks hot.
Me? What about me? Well.
"You look adorable." He grins at me, "I love the sparkle."
Yes, sparkle. Not from my eyes, or my make up, but my dress. No, it's not one of those sparkly turquoise dresses or something -I wish it was.
"I hate you." I muttered while looking around and saw older people wearing a costume alright, a mature one!
They're not wearing Olaf's or Genie's costumes, no, they're wearing ball gowns. BALL GOWNS!
"You told me that this was a costume party." I smiled awkwardly to hide my embarassment.
"No, I said it was like the ones in Disney."
"You agreed that it was a fairytale themed party!"
"Princesses are fairytales." He smiled sheepishly, "I don't know what you call them."
"It's a ballgown Jay, a ballgown." I sighed, "I mean look at me!"
"What?" His eyes scanned me from top to bottom, "You look great!"
"I'm wearing a fairy suit for Pete's sake!" I groaned.
Yes, since I have a limited time, I decided to wear a fairy suit. Not just anyone's fairy suit, but my brother's, Charlie. Why does he own one? It's a looong story.
"This is embarassing." I groaned, "I'm not even sure if I'm wearing the wings right!"
"With what you're wearing," He shook the wings and gave me an assuring smile, "You look like a colorful angel. My colorful angel."
This is usually the moment where I'd say "Aww" or fan girl, but I'm not in the mood to do so.
"I have no time to change, huh?"
He shook his head no, then suddenly, he looked guilty. "If you want, we can leave."
"...what?"
He shrugged, "I don't want to make you feel embarassed."
"But..." I muttered, "It must be an important gala if you want to attend it."
"Yeah, it is." He smiled, "But you're the most important person to me. So it's fine."
Aww.
Well, I'm not backing down just because I'm wearing a fairy suit. Clasping my hands around his, I grinned at him, "Let's get this gala started."
We entered the convention, and I must say, it's amazing.
"Wine?"A man dressed as a butler, offered some glasses with wine.
Jay took a glass and asked me, "Want some?"
"No thanks." I looked at the butler and gave him a smile, "Thank you, though." He smiles back politely and left.
Jay kissed my temple gently, "Why are you so nice?"
I snorted, "I'm not."
He kissed it again, "You are."
"Riley!" I turn around and saw my older brother, Charlie, walk towards me. "So this is why you borrowed my suit?"
"CHARLIE!" I gasped -not minding his comment- and hugged him, "I didn't know that you'd be here."
"Well, I'm here."
"Me too." I heard a chuckle behind him as Vanchel, his wife, walked towards me. "The suit looks good on a girl."
"Vanch, hey!" I hugged her tightly, "How's it going?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine." She pulled away and raised an eye brow, "Why are you wearing that?" Then she realized something, "Wait a minute, you kept your suit?" She asked her husband as Charlie simply nodded.
"I thought that this was gonna be a costume party." I chuckled awkwardly, "I guess not."
"I heard that the food is nice," Charlie smiled as he wrapped his arm around his wife's waist, "See you around, sis." And with that, he left.
I faced Jay, "Did he leave us because he actually wants food or did he leave us because I'm wearing... this...?"
He puts his arm around me, "It's Charlie, of course it's because of the food."
True.
"Riley Langston."
I turned around and immediately, Jay smashed his wine glass to the wall, making me wince unintentionally. Both because of the loud crash and the fact that the red wine splattered on the walls which wasted it. Jay used the sharp glass shard as a weapon, "Stay.Away."
Because of what Jay did, it caused a scene. Now, the music stopped and everyone in the gala are looking at us. The gasps of women in their fluffy gowns were heard through out the event. The males had immediately created a man barrier around us, securing safety.
Gil, this little lunatic, raised both of his hands in a sign of surrender, "I'm not here to harm you. Or anyone."
"Jay, calm down." I muttered while gently pulling his arms, "He's unarmed."
"Or is he?" Jay shook his head and glared at him, "Why are you here?"
"Riley?!" Charlie screamed, "Jay, you little nibwit, what are you doing?!"
"This is Gil Goñen." Jay sneered angrily, "The same person who tried killing your sister!"
"If that so," He ducked down through the hands of the man barrier and lunged at Gil, catching everyone off guard. "YOU LITTLE NIBWIT!"
I groaned and run towards him, "Charlie!"
"Charlie, stop!" I told him but he continued on punching Gil. I looked up and saw Vanchel staring, which made me ask her, "Why are you not stopping him?!"
"He wanted you dead, Riley." She shrugged, "He should feel the wrath of a Langston."
Groaning, I pulled my brother off of Gil and pushed him away, "Stay away, Charlie!"
Suddenly, Jay was the next one to jump at Gil and start battering him.
Groaning again, I ran towards my monkey of a boyfriend, "Jay, I said stop!"
Sighing, he stopped and glared at Gil, who for some reasons, just stayed down on the floor and not protecting himself. "Why. Are. You. Here?"
Gil stood up wobbily, "I'm here to make-" He spat out blood, "Ammends."
Jay asked, "What?"
Gil coughed then cleared his throat, "I'm here on behalf of my father. I'm here to apologize."
"Your father's a coward." Charlie rolled his eyes, "He has no balls!"
"Charlie!" Vanch frowned at him, "Don't say that!"
"It's true." Gil licked his lips, "But either way, I'm sorry. We're sorry. Both from me, my father, and my brother."
"Hibiscus?" Jay asked the same time I did, "The bald one?"
"Yes..." Gil coughed out a chuckle, "And yes..."
"Well, in that case." I smiled at him, "You're forgiven."
"What?!" I heard some questions around the gala. Then there were, "But he tried killing her!" "Is she crazy?!" "What kind of a bald man name is Hibiscus?!"
"I'm still alive, so it's all right." I smiled at him, "But you do need to leave. You're ruining our party."
"Thank you." He smiled at me, "Thank you."
Jay walked towards him and offered him a hand. He pulled Gil up and smiled, "If my girlfriend forgave you." Then suddenly, his smile turned into a frown, "I didn't." And with that, he punched Gil straight in the face, succesfully knocking him out.
Gasps were heard everywhere, including from my own mouth.
"Jay..." I muttered silently.
He shrugged with a smile, "Last one, I swear that's the last one."
Chuckling I pulled him towards me and gave him a kiss.
"Alright people, show's over!" Charlie shouted, "Let's continue this event!"
And just like that, the people around us acted as if nothing happened and continued what they were doing. It didn't take long for the music to start again too.
Puling away from Jay, I smiled at him and pointed at Gil, "You're taking care of him."
He groaned with a cute little pout that I love, "Great."
