Chapter 94 A Wall
I watched silently as the sun descends. The bright day was replaced with pure darkness. It's weird how the moon can't be seen from this angle of the sky. Then again, I am inside a police station with a limited view of the sky because of the small window.
Yes, I waited so long that I even watched the sunset and the moonrise -heh, get it? Sunset, and Moonrise hahahahaha -okay.
I was planning to play this dress up game on my phone called Love Nikki, but unfortunately, my hearts are low.
And so, I decided to play the free version of Sims in the Mango store, but unfortunately, all my Sims are at work. Sadly, I've done rearranging my houses and also, had spent 100,000 dollars with renovations.
I was about to read Webtoon when my phone decided to give up on me. My phone went low bat, no, not that the phone became a bat, but the battery went low. -Heh, okay.
"Cobie?"
Startled, I looked behind me and faced Elliot. This time, not in a mermaid suit. I thought out loud, "You look good."
Wait, what?
My eyes widened when I realized that I said that out loud. Both of his eyebrows were raised, obviously out of shock, but thank the heavens that he didn't say anything.
I cleared my throat awkwardly and said, "I mean, you look good in a decent manner." I smiled sheepishly, "You feel me?"
I was expecting him to just nod and just go along with what I was saying; so you can imagine how shock I was when he gently touched my forehead with his forefinger and jokes, "I feel you."
And this is why we used to be together. He's adorable, isn't he?
Chuckling, I swatted his hand away and stood up, "What's the news with my car?"
He cleared his throat, "Well, your car is still a wall."
Wait, what? "A wall?"
He nodded, "A wall."
I raised an eyebrow in question, "My car is not a wall."
"Technically, it still is."
"Still?" I asked indecorously, "My car has never and will never be a wall."
"What?" He asked, "Who said that your car is a wall?"
"You did!" Is he calling me a liar?!
"No, I didn't."
"Uh, yes." I crossed my arms in front of me, "You did."
"Uh, no." He crossed his arms in front of him, "I didn't."
"Are you calling me a... liar?!"
"Uh, no..?"
I gasped dramatically, "YOU!"
"Me..?"
I cracked my knuckles with my other hand and stretched my neck because I was getting ready for a battle. "You little-"
"WHOA WHOA WHOA!" Officer Ramon ran towards us and became an immediate referee. He asked us, "What is happening here?"
"He-" I pointed at him, "-called me a liar. A fibber. A deceiver."
Officer Ramon looked shocked and faced his co-worker, "Officer Langston! That is no way to talk to a lady!"
Elliot look shocked and exasperatedly say, "I didn't!"
I pointed at him angrily and accused him loudly, "YOU DID!"
"I DID NOT!" He exclaimed, then he looked at a random co-worker that is working a few feet away from us, "Hey Tonio! I didn't call her a liar, right?!"
Tonio, or whoever the guy is, nodded briefly and immediately went back typing.
They're calling me a liar!
"Now," Officer Ramon cleared his throat, "What happened here?"
"He said that my car is still," I air quoted, "A wall."
Elliot shook his head, "No, I said that her car is a wall."
"What's the difference?!" I asked indecorously, "You just changed A as in a to A as in ey."
"Ohhh..." Elliot and Officer Ramon trailed off at the same time as if realizing something.
"What I mean is," Elliot stated, "A wall as in absence."
"What?"
Officer Ramon cleared his throat and explained, "A wall as in A-W-O-L. AWOL is a military term that stands for Absence Without Official Leave."
Ohh... AWOL!
I scoffed when I realized what they meant. "Are you kidding me?"
"No," Elliot shook his head, "Unfortunately, I'm not."
"Here's the thing, officers." I raised up my left hand and a finger, "First, you are using that term in a very and really wrong concept. My car is not a military man that can leave a resignation letter." Then I raised my next finger, "Second, I'm not in the military." Then I raised my next finger, "And third..." I paused, "You're wrong. Just plain wrong."
Elliot opened his mouth and was about to say something when Officer Ramon raised his hand in front of El's face to shut he shut him up.
Officer Ramon looked at me seriously and nodded, "Yes, you're right."
I smiled briefly, "Thank you."
Elliot frowned and said, "But she's not-"
"Now now." He shook his head, "Women are always right. That's an unwritten rule here, well, not only in the United States of America but in the whole universe."
"Thank you, Officer." I smiled at him, but eventually frowned when I realized what he meant, "Wait a minute... so you are just saying that I was right because I am a woman... and not because of the fact that I was right!"
"Aaaand I'm going." And with that, Officer Ramon left.
Frowning, I crossed my arms and tapped my feet impatiently, "What, Langston?"
He sighed, "I'll drive you home."
My eyes widened, "Uh, no." I pursed my lips and said, "I want to know what happened to my car. And besides, you don't know where my house is."
"I beg to differ." He smiled slightly, "We used to date for... 4 years...? I know where you live." Then he chuckled lightly, "Plus, you probably forgot that I've been in your place since we were still wearing our diapers."
This little shit head.
"It's obvious that you never really cared." I chuckled with no humor, "Huh, one of the main reasons why we broke up." I chuckled to cover the pain in my voice, but it failed since I quivered. "On the contrary, it's 6 years." I picked up my bag and passed by beside him, "We've been together for 6 years."
Once I was near him, I stopped and smiled sadly, "Then again, that's probably the reason why you-" I air quoted, "-fell out of love." I rolled my eyes and continued walking, "Whatever you say."
I felt tears brimming in my eyes when I remembered that day, so I walked faster and went outside the police department.
"As cliché as it sounds, it's not you. It's me." He smiled sadly, "I fell out of love, I'm sorry."
Once I was out of the Police Station, I leaned over the railings and looked up in the dark starry sky. I seriously need to stop these tears from falling. And as always, it did not work. There was this traitorous tear that fell down on my cheek... it fell without my consent. Traitor.
I heard the door behind me open which made me wipe the tears on my cheeks, "You ready?"
I swallowed and cleared my throat, "You better explain what's happening, Elliot Langston."
"Explain what?" He asked.
"Your mermaid suit."
"Oh, of course." He smiled, "After you."
I shook my head and scoffed, "I don't know where your car is."
He smirked, "I think you do."
I looked at the parking lot and immediately noticed his red RAM truck that is parked near us. I can't stop the smile forming on my face, "You still have that garbage."
"Felix is not garbage," He laughed as the both of us walk towards it, "And yup. That guy holds a lot of memories."
Yes, he claimed that the truck's gender is a dude, and yes, he named his truck Felix. And here I thought that I was weird.
He pressed his clicker to unlock the truck to where I opened the shotgun door. I always ride shotgun.
I remembered doing this before, except for a few factors like we're both not in Denovan right now, I've never done this in front of a police station, and that we're not together.
I stepped in and was about to buckle up my seatbelt when something caught my eyes. It was a glossy photograph that is tied to red yarn, dangling on the rear-view mirror.
It was a picture of the both of us when we had our picnic from years ago.
