Chapter 109 Popcorn
The calm before the storm has never felt so tense. I remembered keeping secrets from my parents. I remembered not telling them that I lost my phone back in middle school. Well, that was until I learned that my stupid brother has been hiding it the whole time. He only wanted to see me squirm. Anyway. It was not as tensed as this one.
But even back then, I have never liked the waiting game. It gives me small hives because of the stress of being scared. The feeling of knowing that there is a ticking bomb gives me the chills. The suspense is killing me.
It has been a week since El called her sister and dropped the bomb on us. Riley and my moronic brother would be arriving any time now. The week was filled with held in rage and anger.
The newly wedded couple had no idea that the whole family, both the Langstons and the Emersons, are here in our mansion. The same mansion that was once owned by my great grandparents. Looking at it, if the hulks have decided to kill the groom, then at least Jay would die inside this mansion and we can eventually tell the future generation that he died here. Beautiful death. A fulfilling one as an Emerson.
My mom was sobbing at the corner with Chloe, El's mom. They were both heartbroken when they heard the news earlier in the day.
Yes, Charlie, Elliot, and I had decided to keep the news a secret for a week. This is because we know that this will happen. This as in the sobbing party. If we have told them about the sudden wedding a week ago, then they would have been crying for the whole time we were waiting. Or worst, they would have booked flight to Las Vegas in a snap.
I looked at Vanchel who was seated beside me. They are here without Cavorelle. Charlie and Vanch had decided to leave their daughter in the safety of Vanchel's parents, Archel and Ivan, because they know that what is going down here tonight would not be rated for children.
I looked up to see that my dad and Reed were with Charlie. The three of them are on the couch near Elliot. The same place where he angrily awaits near the window for the newlywed. Or the about to be newly dead couple. Ha. I made joke.
Charlie used to work as a fairy in a daycare Vanchel owns. So I was used to see him wearing and holing weird objects. But chills crawled up on my arms when I saw what he was holding. It was not his old magic wand, no, he was holding Elliot's police baton and covered it with glitters. Pink and yellow glitters. I have no idea what is with Charlie. I swear.
I looked at Charlie's wife and asked. 'What is up with the glittery wand that got vomited by a unicorn?"
'The baton?" She asked.
'Yes...?" Obviously.
'Oh," She chuckled. 'Charlie borrowed that from Elliot a few weeks ago for Cavorelle's dance recital."
'What were they acting as?" I felt my eyebrows furrowed. 'A cop?"
'No, just a typical dance recital for kids her age. With fairies and pixies." She openly grimaced. 'There were a lot of fairies." She shook her head. 'Anyway, we needed the baton for the wand."
'But…" The crease in between my brows deepened. 'Charlie used to have," I whispered in. 'Fairy stuff."
Charlie working as a part-time fairy was no secret. I bet if Tweeter was a thing back then, then Charlie would have tons and tons of followers. But talking about the fairy thing in public still makes me feel bad for him. And so, I whispered it.
'He does." Vanch frowns. 'But he does not want to lend it to his own daughter."
I gasped loudly. 'I never knew that Charlie Langston was too self-centered."
'Oh, he is self-centered." She laughed. 'But he is not usually selfish. He just…" She trailed off for a moment as she stares at her husband right across the room. 'He just has this weird obsession in regard to that area of his past."
I felt my eyes widened and my jaw dropped. 'He has a what?"
She blows out a deep breath and chuckle a little bit. 'I know. I heard from Chloe that Reed has that weird personality. But you know, except his would be the chicken suit."
I chuckled with her. 'Oh gosh, is Elliot also going to have this weird obsession in regard to his mermaid suit?"
This time, her eyes grew wider. 'His what?!"
I froze. 'You did not know?"
'What are you talking about?"
Oh gosh. 'The uh…" I paused. 'The… you know… the…" I stuttered. 'The…" I scoffed. 'You know what? What were we talking about?"
'The mermaid suit-"
'Whaaat?" I bluffed. 'Stop being silly. I did not say whatever you just said." I snorted. 'Pfft, what are you talking about. Gosh, Vanch. Motherhood got you good, huh?"
She burst out laughing, but not loud enough for other to hear. 'Chill, Cobe." She pats my right shoulder with her hand. 'I know. We all do."
I blinked. 'You do…?"
'Yes," She chuckled before grabbing her phone from her purse. 'He actually has quite a fan base with an adequate -well, -a lot- of followers in Tweeter."
My eyes widened once again. 'What?" I peeked down and gasped when I saw that he has a fanbase with more than four thousand followers. 'What is going on here?"
'His followers are mostly children," She winked at me. 'You do not have to worry."
'I am not worried," I semi-lied. 'I just find it… weird?" I scroll down and asked, 'Who is handling this?"
'The triplets."
I gawked at her. 'You mean, the triplets triplets?"
'Mmhm," She nodded. 'The Delgados."
I felt my jaw drop for the millionth time. So, this is what they meant that babysitting was the easiest way to get money. I cannot believe I only got fifty bucks from that gig. I bet my boyfriend's talent fee is bigger than fifty bucks.
'Oh, those three little spawns of the most evil being." I murmured silently.
'Oh come on," Vanchel laughed. 'They are not that bad."
I raised an eye brow because I know that she is lying. Vanchel used to babysit the triplets back in the days. I remembered visiting Easton when he broke his arm the time Charlie was the one who babysat them. Yeah, it is a long story. But that is how it ended. (A/N: I recommend reading the Suit Series in my profile)
'Okay, I guess they can be." She grinned.
'Yeah." I chuckled with her. A few moments later, I blew out a breath, "Is Charlie going to beat my brother up?"
She gave me a look of pity, "He has been pretty restless since you told him the news."
Oof.
"Have you contacted Pryla?" Vanch asked me. Pryla is Riley's best friend.
I shook my head no. Unfortunately for us, my brother, Eliot's sister, and her best friend are currently unavailable.
From the look of things, I don't think my parents are willing to defend and protect their stupid son because let's face it, what Jay did was inexcusable. He didn't tell our dad that he was marrying anyone, and according to my mother, he deprived her of the opportunity to prepare the wedding of the decade.
The only person available in his family list that is willing to defend him would be me, his twin sister. What am I going to do now?
"I'm going to get popcorn, you want some?"
She nods sheepishly.
I stood up and jogged to the kitchen. Lol, I'm going to do nothing. He did this to himself. And I'm simply going to be enjoying the show.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a sadist who enjoys the pain and hardships of other people. But when it comes to Jay Emerson? Now that's a different story.
I mean, I would definitely help him out with all my heart if he was in trouble, but he had to know the consequence of his action, of what the consequence of marrying Riley behind our backs would be.
I'm his twin sister, and I want to support him in this battle by becoming his number one fan. With popcorn.
That is just what siblings do.
I put the popcorn in the microwave and waited until it was cooked. Once it was done, I opened the microwave, put the hot bag on a bowl, sprinkled salt on it, and popped a piece to my mouth. Yum.
I walked back to the living room and sits beside Vanchel. I offered her my snacks, "Want some?"
She rejects my offer with a nervous chuckle.
"They're here in ten," Elliot muttered with a clenched jaw while the four men, including him, sits down on the couch properly with their serious face on.
Approximately ten seconds later, as expected, the door opened and all hell breaks loose.
