Chapter 100 Smirk
"You are wet," I told Elliot as I try my very best to clench my jaw so that it would not drop. Elliot looks dashing with clothes. His personality is charming and interesting. But, Elliot without a shirt on? He is a God among men.
From El's raised eyebrow, I bet he is thinking about an innuendo I did not mean to make. I almost smiled a little because that is such a typical Elliot thinking. He can be a gentleman, but he can also be really… something.
Since the gesture made me realize that what I said can be misleading, I cleared my throat and rephrased what I said, "I mean, you are drenched with water, which is why you are wet. Which is really obvious because you are dripping right now." Both of his eyebrows soared high. Oh my gosh. 'Water, you are dripping water. Not whatever you are thinking." I paused and collected myself. I faced to my left to take my gaze away from him and cleared my throat. 'And here is a towel."
He gives me a wide smile as if he knows that his beautiful body had distracted me. I mean it did, but he does need to know that. He really does not. He took the white towel from my hands and replaced his knowing smile with a sheepish one. "I should probably explain to you why I was in that tank with a fish tail..."
"A mermaid suit," I corrected him. "You know, because you were not just wearing tail. You were wearing a wig, and pearls… and a glittery tail," I mumbled. 'You were wearing a mermaid suit In that tank with a mermaid tail."
"Yeah…" He nodded awkwardly with an awkward chuckle. "I should probably explain to you to why I was in that tank in a mermaid suit."
I never thought that I was the type of person to love hearing stories about other people, particularly one with a mermaid suit, a gigantic aquarium, and my ex-boyfriend. But this day has been so weird. So, bring it on.
"Mmhm." I agreed as I lean on the wall in order to prepare myself for a story to be told by him. Oh, and because the view is better here.
"But, I won't." He winked.
"Wait, what?" I stood up properly and gave him an angry glare. "You cannot just do that."
'Do what?" He asked as he ruffled his hair with the towel and pat the side of his face dry.
'You know," I muttered as I try to piece things together without making me sound insane. 'Go inside a tank, give a show, and expect me to suddenly understand what just happened."
"Technically-" He starts to cut me off, but I cut him off first.
"Plus, you were wearing a mermaid suit!" I threw my hands up in the air and flung it everywhere, "A MERMAID SUIT!" I pouted. 'Oh, come on."
He smiled as he rolled his eyes at me. "Technically, I have no obligation as to why I should explain anything that happened to me, to you."
'But-" I'm your ex-girlfriend! Does that not count? I shut my mouth closed before sighing through my nose. A few seconds later, I looked at him with an unbelievable look, "I am curious." That has to count for something, right?
"Aaand maybe that is the reason why you should stay away." He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "Curiosity did kill the rat."
"Cat." I agreed with him. "Curiosity killed the cat." I gave him a wide smiled and pointed to myself. 'I'm no cat. Cats cannot talk."
"I know," He said. "But you're a rat."
What the actual… I clenched my hands on my sides and asked, "How the heck am I a rat?!"
"Have you looked at the mirror?"
This piece of- I gasped, obviously offended, and glared at him with a pointed finger. "You mermaid tail swimming butt hole psychopath-!"
He chuckled as he finalized drying his hair with the towel I gave to him and walked away from me.
"GIVE ME BACK MY TOWEL!" I screamed for him to halt, but all he only chucked the towel back to me and walked nearer to the door so that he can go out of this room. "LANGSTON!"
I heard him chuckling smoothly. "See you around, Emerson."
"GO TO HELL!" I screamed furiously. I am so angry, actually, I am so pissed because of the fact that he would not tell me the reason why he is doing this whole shenanigan.
I have known him for years -I mean, I even dated the guy! I guess that is the reason why I am quite peeved when it comes to this whole situation because I have no idea -not even a single clue- to why he is willing enough to swallow his own pride and wear a mermaid suit.
He turned around and give me a wink. 'I will see you there." And he left.
"I can't believe that jerk!" I grumbled angrily, "Calling me a rat for what? FOR NOTHING!"
"On the contrary," A voice -Easton's- said out of nowhere, which made me jump in fright. 'He only did that old psychology trick to you so that you would get your mind off the topic."
"You scared me!" I gasped while trying to calm my rapidly beating heart. 'I thought I was alone."
"I know." He shrugged.
I squinted my eyebrows and asked him, "How long have you been hiding there?"
"Hiding? I was not hiding." He sounds offended. 'Easton Delgado does not hide." He cleared his throat and fixed his glasses using his pointer finger, "I was just silent."
I blinked and gave him a dry stare. "That is the same thing."
"It is not." He scoffs.
"It is." I crossed my arms in front of my chest and explained, "That is how ninjas are."
"Oh right." He smiled non-humorously, "Because that makes absolute sense."
"Uhuh," I nodded. 'It absolutely does."
"Yeah," He snorts. 'It probably does in Cobie Emerson's head, huh?"
I gasped out loudly because I am upright offended. 'Are you calling me insane?"
'No," He started walking outside of the room. 'Just implied it."
I glared at his back. Easton…
