Jaxon's POV
Right there in Silver Moon Pack, I observed the environment was tense and everyone packed. As the Alpha of Silver Moon pack, the weight of the looming danger Like the corner was overwhelming to me. I overheard some of the pack members talking about the return of an exiled member, Darius Nightshade.
I strolled down the pack's camp, but as I walked down and occupied in my thoughts, I was interrupted, perfectly distracting my thoughts. One of the trusted lieutenants had decided to confine his findings to me. Judging from his appearance, I could sense trouble on the way. From the way he was panting, I could see it needed urgent attention.
'Alpha... Alpha Jaxon," the lieutenant started, and panting while trying to hold his breath.
I turned around as I waited for him to get himself together. From the look of things, one could tell he had been running for a long distance. I tried calming him down to get the information he came with. 'What is the problem?"
The lieutenant's eyes spoke volumes of what his mouth could not say immediately. 'We've received strange information this morning. A dedicated and trusted intelligence officer shows that Darius Nightshade is back in the Silver Moon pack. He's currently in the Night Howlers' territory, and from a trusted friend, I got information that he's collaborating with one of the elders, but I'm yet to get the name of the elder betraying the park."
I started boiling inside, my anger surging beyond control. 'Darius Nightshade of all people? I thought we had closed his chapter, and he's gone forever for good. What could he be coming back to achieve here now?"
'Probably revenge," the lieutenant pointed out intelligently, his tone convincing. 'Obviously, he's been plotting all these years on how to fire back, and on coming back, he has been able to get the support of one of the elders, a betrayal in our midst. From the collaboration they are forming, it's obvious that if we don't do anything, they will go ahead of us and strike."
I tried controlling my anger, but my fists were saying otherwise as I clenched them tightly. 'We need to act as soon as possible, if possible, to be steps ahead of them. I won't give Darius or any of the elders any chance to destroy this pack or distract the peaceful coexistence of pack members."
I made my way to one of the places where we worked, the strategy room; my mind was a whirlwind of emotion as I contemplated the implications of what was coming. The threat from Darius Nightshade could destroy alot of things in the pack if nothing is done. Revenge from a hungry exiled wolf, coming back to take whatever he could lay his hands on.
Darius, on the other hand, obviously may be busy making plans, putting in every effort to ensure the success of his operation. The rumor of his return was already a threat to the peace we experience in this pack. Who could be the one betraying the pack among the elders, secretly disclosing our information to Darius, and risking the lives of the pack members? I need to get enough evidence before the confrontation.
We need to train our warriors more because war could break out at any moment from now. We need to be prepared not to be caught unawares, to ensure the interests of the pack members are protected, even amid the wedding preparations. Seraphina has been extremely extravagant in her preparation, I feel, and it might not give Darius the perfect opportunity he needs to strike unawares.
Exiled Isolde Frostfang returns
Isolde Frostfang's POV
The forest close to Silver Moon's pack seemed to harbor secrets beyond the physical eyes. This used to be my home, a place that used to be my abode, that made me who I am.
Years had passed; it had been ages since I was exiled from my pack, the Silver Moon Pack, ruled by Alpha Jaxon. I was broken into pieces after they accused me of betrayal. A pack that I contributed a lot to building cast me out like I am nothing. I had nurtured my resentment for years, waiting for the right time to strike.
I am trying to practice daily, honing my skills secretly in the dark, waiting for the right time to strike. Silver Moon pack members betrayed my trust and cast me out into the dark. Jaxon and the members of the council wasted my time throwing me out of my pack, a place that made me. Right now, it is my turn to retaliate, to reclaim all that belongs to me, and take my rightful position in the pack.
I was wrongfully accused, accused of treason, of betraying the pack that I was serving faithfully. Serving once as the pack's strategist, I was respected, and my words' law. I put all my efforts into promoting the well-being of the pack, only to stay unrecognized. Toiling day and night, while another receives all the praises, all the recognition, and you are left with nothing. That was my case, and when I tried to make a path for myself, I was tagged as a betrayal.
I am here now to seize the power that rightfully belongs to me, something that was taken away from me through accusations. The Silver Moon pack will be punished for betraying my loyalty to her. And I won't with Jaxon for throwing me out without looking back.
As I got closer to the camp, I noticed a shadow was approaching me as well. On a closer look, I noticed it was one of the elders. To worsen the situation, he was among those who supported my exile; he toiled day and night to ensure that I was banished from my pack.
It was Elder Clatus, a two-edged sword, ready to devour anyone who was working with him. Right there in the Silver Moon pack, Elder Clatus was seen as one of the faithful elders of the pack. He was held in high esteem, but he was a backbiter, ready to sell his own even for a penny.
When he finally got to where I was, I observed his face to ensure he wasn't there to worsen the situation for me. I observed that his expression was masked, hidden in deceit, ready to get me into another trap.
One of my reasons for coming back is to settle old scores with the elder Clatus, to pay him back for his contribution to my exile. But here he is again, maybe to collaborate, which will be a great opportunity for me to retaliate. Elder Clatus's hunger for power had made him indulge in my unhealthy practices just to fill his ego. His desire to be at the top made him push me out so that I wouldn't expose his evil-doing, but here he is now, still the same person.
'Isolde Frostfang," Elder Clatus called me while trying to sound as nice as possible. 'I'm more than pleased to see you again after many years. Your coming back has been anticipated for a long time, but it's okay that you are here now. Welcome."
I smiled to myself, seeing that his cunny nature hadn't left him. I held his gaze for some time but maintained a grave expression. 'Elder Clatus. It's been ages since we last saw them. I've come to my park, where I was raised, to see my people. And most importantly, I won't leave until I get the promise of vengeance. I am not here for peace but to destroy Jaxon Blackthorn and the whole pack."
Elder Clatus gave out a laugh that showed he was pleased with the reason he had returned. 'You are exactly what I want your return to be, a timely vengeance is what we want right now. Jaxon, the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, has in many ways shown that he's a thorn in my side, just like he dealt with you in the pack. And the reason that I am here right now is for us to join hands together and pull him down. This way, what belongs to us will be protected."
I gave out a nod in agreement to whatever he had to offer. I might as well use him to achieve my goals, and then punish him later. 'What does your plan look like? How do you intend to interrupt the beautiful activities already ongoing in the pack, a good plan that will be easy to weaken Jaxon and the whole pack?"
Elder Clatus asked me to follow him, to get a spot and sit as our conversations would take a longer time than expected. 'Our plans are not straightforward but spontaneous. I will take care of the other side's powers.
For a start, I made the right move by contacting Darius Nightshade. He is also back for vengeance, and won't rest until that is achieved. Darius Nightshade was one of the valuable assets that we had, but he was banished for no reason. And, I'm happy that both of you are back to take what rightfully belongs to you. Who has returned with a grudge against you?"
As we finally found a place to sit down, the elder Clatus expressed himself, busy showing off his night. We needed attention to all the takes. I noticed that it was night. Again, bring lights to one can.
As we continued in the gladness of his return, I made sure to point out one of the best among the best. 'The Night Howlers were supposed to have the best warriors because of their constant training. The Silver Moon pack was supposed to be the best pack when they were learning from them."
I listened as if there was nothing to push, my mind already racing with possibilities. 'I know everything about their vulnerabilities very well now, nothing about their weaknesses that I didn't know from the beginning to the end.
