Liora's POV
The awaited night had come. The glowing of the full moon with silver emissions was a beautiful sight to behold. It shone so bright upon the face of Silver Moon Pack's lands. What do I expect, it was a union blessed by the moon goddess, and the moon itself has to be at alert to give Its blessings as well. Tonight, the awaited night, I would become Jaxon's mate, a union predestined before our birth, and it would be held in the eyes of our pack and the moon goddess, the orchestra. My wolf was also expectant just as I was.
I stood to add some finishing touches to my look, in front of the wide mirror in my quarters. I watched my reflection staring back at me, I couldn't recognize myself, it wasn't something I was used to. My wolf was awed. "Who's that girl?" she asked me in a teasing manner. Apart from Mira, she's my companion, always willing to cheer me up in my down moments. She has a calm nature, my number one fan, and for this moment, she surged with pride. "It's our day, pinky. It's not just mine, you contributed to me getting to this height." I told her.
Mira stormed in without a knock. She does that a lot these days without any remorse. Her energy was what I loved most, but I dared not giggle like her, I needed the energy for tonight, for something more important. "You scream everything perfectly, Liora!" she exclaimed, a grin plastered all over her face. I smiled by just looking at her. "Thank you, Mira. You are the best of all the best." I appreciated her.
"Though it's not only about looking perfect," I murmured, my voice dropping at what might disrupt the night. "We should also be ready for anything at all, looking perfect won't save the day."
Her eyes lightened up. "You were born for this, you were born ready."
"I am aware that this is my destiny, but what if I am unable to salvage the situation? What if I disappoint the pack again tonight? They are expecting a lot from me, expecting healing and protection from magical powers, what if I fail again in offering them protection?" I lamented while Mira watched me without saying a word.
Mira smiled mischievously, 'What about we concentrate more on the joyful moment that comes from this union, Liora. You have done enough in averting attacks, let the moon goddess take care of the rest, please." She advised me. I was calm because of her advice, she's the best I ever had.
I turned again to face Mira. "Please, try and keep a sharp eye tonight. We have no idea where or how chaos might start. There's no telling if the traitor is not in this pack."
She nodded, and I could sense the assurance on her face. "You know I always prioritize everything that concerns you."
Jaxon's POV
The entire pack had gathered awaiting the great event. The sacred clearing was filled with both sick pack members and those recovering. No one wants to be left out, everyone wants to witness our beautiful union. Elders were not left out, as they all occupied the front row, including Elder Marcus. He was the one anchoring the wedding, as we were more comfortable having him carry out the duties as our closest confidant.
Our visit to the old man's hut was still a secret even to the moment of our Wedding. No member of the council knew about it apart from Elder Marcus. I knew I was about to take a great step in my life, and I waited patiently at the ceremonial altar, waiting for my Liora.
My wolf, Storm, was not having it. He could not wait for the wedding to be over, for its consummation to take place. I was glad that D-Day was finally here, but I was still alert. The ceremony was taking place at a very old time. It was nothing close to what we all envisioned for ourselves. We wanted a peaceful wedding, but trouble seemed to be brewing just behind the scene. It might launch on the pack at any time, and to worsen it all, our defenses were weak due to the effect of the dark magic.
I tried to push away the tension, to concentrate on the reason we gathered here. I focused my attention on Liora, the most beautiful bride of the moment, and sooner, she would become my Luna, the Luna of this great pack. I could not wish to share this moment with anyone except her. The trials we passed through, the test that our love was subjected to, all was a sacrifice for this beautiful moment.
Unknown POV
Right there within the council of elders, I sat calmly, codedly observing all the movements of the pack. No one made an attempt to search the council, not even the wise one, Elder Marcus. At one point, I thought they would suspect the council, judging from how fast information travels out, barely minutes after every council meeting, but still, none of them paid attention to that. If only they knew how Morgath gets all he wants, if only they paid less attention to politics. But no, they All wanted their voices to be heard, to be heard, to be counted as the most relevant elder of the pack. Well, it was all to my advantage, it gave me all I needed to strike. I weaved a deadly web while they all struggled for power and influence. And now, I am just in the right position to destroy all their efforts, it was time to strike.
I watched Alpha Jaxon, he had no idea what was coming. He stood proud and confident, the moment he had been anticipating. Tonight, he had planned a beautiful moment to unfold, but I made reservations for chaos to reign. Morgath's power would envelope everywhere tonight, the pack wouldn't remain the same after this encounter. I would ensure the invasion goes smoothly, yes, I am the eyes of the destroyers seeing the pack. But for now, I would play the part of a dutiful elder, I would play along, organizing but destroying it at same time.
The Wedding Proper
Liora stepped in, her presence radiating gracefully, all eyes turned to her direction. This was the moment we have been waiting for, the Luna of the pack is finally here. I couldn't concentrate anymore, her presence was a magnetic force, pulling me beyond control. She was the best Luna of her kind, beautiful but yet fierce, and she's mine. Storm growled in approval, yes, this is the one we have been waiting for. She dominated the whole pack, everyone was left stunned on her entrance.
Our eyes met, and mine lingered on her lips. Nothing mattered to us again, all we could see was us, not even this that gathered to witness our union mattered. Everything faded away, rolling out like a mat. We stood smiling before the entire pack, before the moon and the moon goddess to fulfill our destinies. The scroll was opened by the oldest Elder, Elder Marcus. Right inside it were powerful words, ancient ordinances that would strengthen our bond. It would tie our fates together even more, a fulfillment of the prophecy.
We exchanged vows, promising to hold and cherish each other. This was nothing like that which I had with Seraphina. The moon goddess was never in support of it, it was an abomination in her sight. My grip on Liora's hand tightened, she has become mine, and not even the brewing trouble under the shadows could stop that. We were both alert, expecting anything to happen at any moment, but ready to defend the pack.
A Mysterious Warrior Arrives
Suddenly, out of the shadows, even without warning, a huge figure emerges. His presence turned every neck, carrying an aura of authority that no one dared question. He was a force to reckon on, his facial expression fierce, maybe a breath of fresh air, but his mission was yet to be revealed. How dare he interrupted something very important, causing commotion within the pack, as some pack members were ready to take to their heels at any slight dangerous movement.
The warrior was not just huge, he had battle scars, a testament of his survival in brutal wars. He scanned the hall in a cold but calculative manner, until it landed on me. I watched him scan the hall again, but this time, his eyes located the elders, each of them holding his gaze in the same manner he used on them. Finally, he returned it to me. No one dared challenge him, not even the warriors as they were all in pain from the effect of the dark magic, though not all, but we agreed to use the healthy ones only when necessary.
"You don't know who I am, or my mission here, Alpha Jaxon, but I bring news, news that requires urgent attention" His face was darkened, an evidence of dedicating his lifetime to fighting. "I know everything about Morgath, and tonight, he has gotten information about this gathering, and will soon strike. The betrayal is right inside this hall, even listening to me now. I had stayed away for so long, worked in the wrong direction, but not anymore. I am here to help and save my pack.
I stepped forward, I knew he might be telling the truth, but I suddenly couldn't trust him. I would make my findings about him. My wolf sized him up, trying to detect any games, but none was found. "Who are you to this pack now, and what made you change your mind and seek the right path? Why should I trust you even without knowing you?"
He smirked arrogantly. "You shouldn't trust me to please anyone. Suit yourself, but keep it in mind that danger is coming. Your pack won't be soared, nothing even you would be saved. Your wedding night would become a disaster, the opposite of what you planned."
Liora was by my side listening to everything. She decided to question him further. "And why did you choose this night to come, why didn't you show up during the first attack? Where have you been all these years? Why are you suddenly back?
The warrior smiled, his expression softened while looking at Liora, but still unreadable. "Because Morgath won't spare anyone tonight, not even the one that planned the evil with him. I was caged under him, but I am free now. I was once one of his closest allies, following his instructions and destroying packs, but not anymore. I am here tonight with enough information, all you might need to save this pack."
I was not having his long speech, for all I know, he might be one of them. But Liora seemed to see something in all he said. She pleaded that we give him a chance, but on a close watch.
"Let him speak then," she said with confidence. "If Morgath plans to strike tonight, then we must match his energy with our readiness, and we are going to need all the help we can get, that's where he comes in."
