Jaxon’s POV
The sun seemed shy to start its duties yet, the day wasn't too gone, but still fresh for evils to still breed in-between. I had come to supervise the warriors at the training ground. We decided not to take chances again, after the attempted kidnap of Liora, the Luna of the pack. I had purposed it in my heart to stage warriors at every corner of the pack, ensuring there would be no entrance of any type.
'Alright warriors, gather around everyone," I called out to the warriors, ensuring my voice issued a commanding tone. This is for them to know how committed they should be, the assignment I want to entrust in their care could destroy my life if they don't carry it out diligently. 'This isn't like other days of training, it's a different type of preparation. From now on, our training is going to take a different dimension. We would attack any attackable, any threat to our wellbeing must be handled appropriately. We must protect what is ours by all cost."
The warriors wasted no time in gathering around me, from their faces, I could see how determined they were. Many of them were eager to do anything to protect the pack and their new Luna. They so much love their Luna, which is Liora, that they would give their lives in exchange for hers. I saw the loyalty, I witnessed it, and I wouldn't be taking that for granted. I praised their commitment just to boost their ego and eagerness to do more. My warriors loved it when I gave out incentives, and I wasn't going to stop that. I would continue, but this time, everyone would be a partaker for their good works.
'Malcolm," I called out to my trusted beta, 'I want this training to take a different look today. Pair up the warriors in the order they would train, but ensure the new recruits are paired with the senior warriors. We're preparing everyone at all costs, there should be no excuse. Everyone should be ready in a few days time, no excuse, not even the new recruits. All should be given equal opportunity to protect their pack."
Anyone tries sneaking into our territory, I want to know about it before they even cross the river."
'Noted, Alpha," he replied, and without wasting time, he began signaling the warriors to cooperate and fall into formation. He turned back to me, his expression serious. 'So, we are doubling security rotations, Alpha?"
'Double rotation is cool, but I would prefer we do tripling," I replied. 'I don't want weak eyes meaning our major entrances. As much as I want eyes everywhere, I would want it to be done appropriately. Tripling would enable us to detect a lot of things. We should be ready to the extent we get information of Anyone with the intention to sneak into our territory, we should get the information before they even come close to the River and Crossing it."
Malcolm let out a small smile. 'This sounds interesting, and from the look of things, you would be making a fortress out of us."
'Yes, a fortress, and of course an impenetrable one," I replied, tapping him gently on the shoulder.
As we continued the arrangement, I moved from rank to rank, observing everyone present and, interestingly, they were all as ready as the air surrounding us. My thoughts drifted to Liora, she has passed through a lot, done so much for the pack that I won't allow any harm to come close to her. If we hadn't staged warriors by her chamber, they would have succeeded, though Liora wasn't one to be taken without a fight.
She's incredibly great with her sword, well gifted hands that only a fist fight would send them crawling back to the hole they came from. Liora has become my responsibility, so is the pack, and anyone with bad intentions would have to go through me before harming her.
'Alpha, what do we do with the patrol duty on the northern borders, how do we manage that?" asked Niko. He was one of the senior warriors, just a few that understands how important it is to keep the security tight.
'That's a good one, Niko. I want nothing less than a double shift along the northern and eastern borders, that way, the warriors in charge would rotate every six hours," I replied.'This should be put in place with immediate effect, and that way, no one gets exhausted. It ensures there's a fresh set of eyes at every six hours all times."
Niko nodded, his scarred face showing how determined he was, he would ensure the warriors cooperated well. 'Understood, let me get to action immediately, Alpha."
'Good work, Nico." I gave him a pat for his efforts, and my gaze shifted to the rest of the warriors. I had to address them to keep in character. 'And I won't tolerate anyone slacking off while on duty, you wouldn't want to know what your punishment would be."
The warriors knew better than to misbehave. They had witnessed my ruthless part, and won't want me to unleash that on them. They knew that every word that I uttered held as much water as my authority as the Alpha.
As I made to leave, I spotted a figure approaching the training ground, but on a closer look, I discovered that it's no other than Liora. As she draws closer than us, her countenance radiating authority, she looks every bit of my mate, every bit of Silver Moon Pack Luna. From the confidence in her steps, to how her skin glowed under the early morning sun. All made me a complete Alpha, my ego taking the greater part of me.
'Hope I am not interrupting anything?" she asked, ensuring to weaken me with her charming smile.
'Oh, nothing of that nature," I replied, wasting no time to take her hands in mine. 'Your presence is well anticipated and honored."
Liora had managed to crawl into the heart of every member of Silver Moon Pack, that they would do anything for her safety. While we were still discussing, one of the warriors named Kai, kept grinning from ear to ear. 'Luna, seems you would be joining us in training?"
Liora jokingly raised an eyebrow, her smile priceless as she continued conversing with the warrior. 'Are you scared or perhaps you are asking because of your opinion about my training, I would probably slow you guys down right?"
Kai let out a chuckle, he was happy to have her around. 'Ah, nothing close to that at all, Luna. Just...I did prefer you take it slowly with us, some of us can't keep to your pace."
She laughed out loud at his joke. They all knew that she carries the stamina of a horse, never relenting untill she achieves her goal. Funny enough, I could feel the warmth of her laughter on my chest. It made me feel strangely lighter.
'Liora," I whispered, wrapping my arms around her waist from her back. I wanted only her to hear me.'How do you feel? About everything, our arrangement to keep you and the pack safe?"
She glanced up, and still held her charming smile. 'I feel safer already," she muttered in a whisper. 'Just the arrangement alone is making me feel safe, and it's because of you, Jaxon, my Alpha."
I bent my head and pressed a kiss on her neck, eliciting a moan from her. 'Then, I would live the remaining part of my life ensuring you never stop feeling that way."
Just then, I looked to see Malcolm backing us. He has been standing there waiting for us to finish, not wanting to interrupt, but from the amusement in his eyes, he was enjoying the moment. 'Yes, Malcolm, how many ways can we help you?" I asked him knowing that he would never talk but continue standing like a statue. "I'm sorry to interrupt your beautiful moment, Alpha, but your attention is needed right away."
I grinned at how he stood like a statue without talking. Everyone seemed to enjoy seeing it together. 'Alright, warriors! Enough with messing around! Let's continue with the business of the day."
The warriors spurned the action immediately, and from where I stood, I observed how Malcolm and some of the senior warriors diligently guided the new recruits, ensuring they were properly instructed on what to do.
It gladdened me the more when I saw how they all moved with purpose, following the instructions of the senior warriors, those ranking higher than them. Every step they took was coordinated so that one would mistake them for highly trained warriors already. Their dedication and loyalty spoke volumes, an evidence of how far they were willing to go for the pack and those they love.
I glanced at Liora's direction, and all I could see was how proud she was. She was pleased with how they coordinated themselves while training, something I thought would be a tug of war. Nobody would have handled the new recruits better than Liora, but the high ranked warriors proved to be more than useful. 'You know what," I began, 'I had always had a double mind about being an Alpha, especially with my opinion not counting much because of my family. I knew I was meant to rule, maybe other packs other than Silver Moon Pack, but having you around even made it clearer."
She held my gaze for some time, her eyes softening. 'You're more than an incredible Alpha, Jaxon. And of course, I wouldn't have asked for a better mate."
We stood there, saying nothing to each other, only observing the training. It was going smoothly, not until we heard a sharp growl not far from the training ground. Our entwined hands released each other immediately as we spurned to action. There should never be an interruption to what we have arranged.
