Liora’s POV
As we called it a wrap on the wedding night, I felt like a heavyweight had been lifted off my shoulders. I have been worried to death on how we would pull through, knowing that the enemies would be waiting at the corner just to destroy our efforts. But for now, we will be resting. We had won, but the big battle lay ahead. All that matters is my union with Alpha Jaxon. I am finally the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack.
They came to shake us, to pull a stunt that would distract the wedding, but we were prepared. Indeed, they did pull a stunt, but our resolve was strong. The storm could be looming behind the shadows, they might be planning even more deadly trouble, but we would always win them.
The war was just starting; it wouldn't be over anytime soon.
The wedding ceremony is over, now it is the Sacred Night. A night when we consummate our vows, when we would become one, Jaxon and I. Everything, including nature, glowed in approval to what would happen tonight. The moon hangs high, smiling at us, and shining over every habitant of the Silver Moon Pack.
In addition to finally bonding with Jaxon, my healing power, which had been lying dormant for months and which I had been restricted from, had returned with full force. According to the old man, I was restricted from using my power. I wasn't joined with Jaxon in marriage. The next dimension of my power required my bond with my fated mate to be unlocked, hence, the reason our union was rushed.
I hadn't married Jaxon out of pity for him and the pack, I truly and genuinely loved everything about him. He might have rejected me in the past because of pressure, but these few months, he had proven beyond reasonable doubt that he was the right one for me.
I felt useless by the time I tried healing my pack mates but was unable to access the power. At first, I concluded that Morgath was responsible, that he had used his magic to restrain me. But after my romantic moment in the woods with Jaxon, I started experiencing strange encounters, simply put; vision. I noticed that the visions don't just come except each time I had a great moment with Jaxon. It kept me curious, and I suspected Jaxon had something to do with my healing. My suspicions were confirmed when we visited the old man. Our purpose and duties were intertwined, and for them to be accomplished, we must work together as one in everything.
I closed my eyes and let out a breath. I didn't know I had been holding back. The power wasn't back fully, but I was grateful for the one I had. I could at least use it to restore my pack mates till the full power returns. I couldn't wait for us to find the three artifacts that would give me full access to the power.
Jaxon never left my side, his presence hovering around me like a fly. He was afraid to let his eyes off from my sight even for a second. Our Union tonight happened like a magic, transforming everything about us, even when it seemed it won't take place again.
I turned to Jaxon with a calm voice; I needed to convince them to leave the consummation of our union vow tonight. "The warriors and the entire pack would be needing me tonight. We cannot afford another invasion with the pack in this disorganized and weak form. What if they decide to attack by midnight, the pack would be destroyed."
His gaze betrayed him; it showed disappointment at how long he had waited for the sacred night to finally consummate what we shared, but we were tending to the pack instead of carrying out our union duty. He had no choice, he's the Alpha and should understand. His protectiveness of the pack won't even permit him to do anything that would cause the pack harm. He saw how weak everyone was during the attack, they would have defended themselves if they were sound and not sick.
He nodded, but he wasn't happy. He had already planned how the night would be in his head.
Without another word, I left his side for the first time that day, moved deeper into the night, and the cold breeze of the night washed over my skin. The warriors and all the members of the pack gathered at a clearing. It was time to get rid of the spell tormenting them, to get everyone back to their feet, up and doing. I discovered that some warriors who defended the pack during my union with Jaxon were brutally injured. Their wounds expanded, coupled with the ones they had before. The attack was unexpected and had given them no room to prepare ahead.
I walked toward a young wolf named Thorne. He happens to be one of the most trusted and loyal pack warriors ever in existence. His body was covered with scars, showing how he had been dedicated to the affairs of the pack, doing his best to protect everyone, despite not having his own family as they were all dead. He derived so much joy, according to him, from making others well. He had been one the best, one that can't pass without your notice. His strength was failing him in everything, and he needed to be replenished. He bowed his head in reverence as his Luna as I approached.
'Luna," he greeted, and from his voice, you could tell how tired he was.
I placed my hand on him, carefully checking every part of his body. I placed a hand on his chest; I wanted to feel his heart heat, to know how regular his breathing was, how much he was affected by the attack before attending to him.
My power didn't disappoint me in any way. My hand glowed, and the power flowed, from the inner being where they were secretly locked up for ages, seeping into him. The pull was becoming much more than a tide experience, but I wasn't scared anymore; it would serve the entire pack and more.
His body vibrated like an electric shock immediately after my hands came in contact with his skin, and as usual, the power that the ancestors blessed me with began to manifest, healing every one of his infirmities. He had suffered for the pack and needed his strength back. Most importantly, he deserves to live again.
I watched as his wolf stirred, and his strength flowed in, returning as in the normal days, he would be needing them more. Thorne's eyes gleamed with gratitude, grateful for the opportunity to feel alive again. The pain had left him, he was experiencing a new type of energy, something he had longed for in weeks.
'Thank you so much, Luna," he whispered, and I could see how he genuinely appreciated my efforts from his voice.
I didn't stop my service there, I made sure to move from warrior to warrior, ensuring each one received the same healing touch, just as Thorne. I could see their eyes filled with gratitude, even as they sang my praise. I knew they could not wish for a better Luna than me. This is my life, a compassionate part of me that loves seeing others happy. I knew we were preparing for a battle, which was the main reason, but still, I have come to love what I do with my pack members and how happy they are each time they are completely healed.
The rogues had targeted us well by attacking on our most sacred night, but that was a mistake on their part. They had no idea what would be waiting in stock for them. They had succeeded the first time, owing to the fact that we weren't prepared, but that won't happen next time. They would be doomed if such is attempted.
I continued moving from one pack member to the other, and I could feel their strengths restoring, howls and growls filled the pack, but not of agony but of gratefulness. They all sang my praise, declaring me the best Luna in existence. Another interesting moment was the opportunity to truly bond with those I would be leading. They would be free to come to me and table their complaints rather than seeing me as a foreign body.
Once I was done attending to the warriors and their healing completed, I turned to the members. I had healed the warriors first so that they could protect the pack in case another attack broke in while the healing was ongoing. The mothers and their little ones were extremely happy, the joy radiating on their young wolves' faces. Most of them hadn't gotten to the age they would shift into their wolf forms, but I still healed them. They would get to that stage one day. The elders were not left behind. They might not have been affected badly due to the privileges they had as the elders of the pack, but you still had to attend to them.
The most important moment that I got to experience was how their spirit lit up after each touch. The energy they responded with was amazing, the fear that had occupied their minds after the attack was now replaced with a new confidence, especially knowing that their Luna could now heal them, and take care of their injuries after every battle, not to talk of the fact that she would be right there in the pack, fighting side by side with them until victory is achieved.
I expected my body to grow tired like the first time I healed the pack, but now that has happened. The more I healed the pack members, the more the energy seeped in and my hands continued glowing. I couldn't stop, even when I should have left and rescheduled it to the next day, but I didn't. The aim was to ensure everyone got the same package as the other.
When I finally finished, I returned to Jaxon's side, who was with me all through the healing process. It was a tedious exercise but we still carried it out anyway. The moon had almost dimmed, but still, the glow never left the pack, it shone over the inhabitants of the pack. I knew this was just the tip of the iceberg. The main power was yet to return completely.
I glanced at Jaxon's face, and I caught him staring intensely at me. Maybe he was still shocked that I had become his Luna. Or he was shocked that such power could come from me, and the key to unlocking it was simple; getting to him.
'The pack is now ready," I had managed to say, as I tried to get hold of myself from his intense staring.
He nodded, as he continued to stare at me. He made me sit on his thighs as he continued staring. All I could see in his eyes was pride. He was proud of my achievements and of how I was compassionate in healing the pack members. The battle we faced on the most important night of our lives, the night that we had longed for for months, had succeeded in making us stronger.
There were artifacts to be found, a long journey that wouldn't be easy in any way, and there was the bond to be consummated. For now, the greatest part of the bond is sealed up, but when the requirements of the sacred night are fulfilled and the artifacts found, our efforts will be fruitless.
That would come later, but until then, we head straight to consummating the bond.
