The Invasion
Jaxon's POV
The tension had doubled due to the presence of the mysterious warrior. Everywhere was tense before, but his arrival added spice to it. Even as I said the vows, I was at alert, my attention divided. First, I won't want to be lost in the moment, and Liora would be harmed. I wouldn't also want the pack to blame us for holding the wedding at a very critical moment. They have no idea that our union has the key to their healing. We would have taken our time to have a beautiful union, but we had to rush all for their sake.
I glanced at Liora, the glow in her eyes warming my heart, pushing me to at least relax and enjoy the moment. The union would soon be completed, with the entire pack present and the moon goddess watching us from above.
The hall was dead silent, everyone listening to the vows, and observing the sacred ceremony. Everything was moving smoothly, but at the last moment, just as we raised our joined hands up to the sky for all to see, signaling that we are united, the atmosphere changed.
It happened so suddenly, just a blink of an eye.
My instincts detected it first, but I ignored it. Rogues stormed in, the unmistakable stench of rogues. They were wild as always, a perfect description for feral wolves who had no allegiance, a no respecter of codes. They had emerged out of the darkness like shadows, their eyes glowing with grudge, an ancient grudge And ready to unleash them on the whole pack.
Chaos erupted in the hall, pack members scattering around for safety.
The healthy warriors we kept for defense purposes sprang into action, and luckily they were able to form a tight barrier between the rogues that invaded and the pack. A few wolves managed to shift to their wolf forms, just to aid the defense. I was impressed with the massive energy they all put in just to defend the pack. The clash was brutal, strength to strength, action to action.
Liora's POV
It all happened too quickly, so unexpected.
One beautiful moment, I was taking a vow with Jaxon, pledging all my being out, the next moment, the atmosphere was catastrophic. Scent of blood filled the air from injured pack mates, but the defending warriors did a great job. I caught sight of Mira, fully active in defending the pack. Her wolf charged toward the closest threat, tearing it into two with anger. It was a bloody sight to behold.
Our Wedding was supposed to have a beautiful ending, but here we are struggling for our lives. The mysterious warrior had warned us, and I'm glad that we listened and made arrangements for defenders. What would have become of the weak pack members if there was no defense at all?
I watched everything that unfolded, this was our wedding, and I can't stay back and watch rogues ruin the beautiful moment. I made to leave, to help the defending warriors and clear the rogues but Jaxon held me back.
Jaxon's grip on me was so tight that I had no chance of running off, he didn't want me to be injured on our wedding night. "Stay with me, please, Liora." he growled low, not willing to let go of my hands anytime soon. "We must finish this on our terms, Liora. No one is permitted to destroy what the moon goddess ordained to be."
I nodded, but I was wishing to run off from Jaxon's hold and defend the pack. I watched as the defenders did coordinated work. They drove the rogues out of the pack, successfully blocking them out of the pack. The attack was nowhere close to us, they were out as they came before they could get to the ceremonial altar where we stood.
I knew without being told that Morgath sent them to spy the pack, to know if the coast is clear for his atack.
Unknown POV
From my hidden places, I watched the chaotic sight unfold. The rogues didn't disappoint as always. They had done a great work at disrupting the wedding ceremony, though they were a bit late, almost when they were done with the union vows. Surprisingly, Silver Moon Pack warriors were able to breach the attack.
They couldn't have done that one on their own. The mysterious warrior warned them, and they had heeded to his advice. The warrior was a betrayal, he betrayed loyalty, betrayed the dark magic, and would pay for it. Damn his guts at destroying a perfectly crafted plan.
But that didn't matter in any way. The wedding had been interrupted, the pack members had been alerted of the looming danger ahead. They would begin to doubt the leadership of Jaxon, questioning his reason for hosting the wedding amidst pack's trouble. Jaxon might have won now, but it's a temporary victory. The real war is yet to come.
Jaxon's POV
With a growl as fierce as a deadly battle cry, I turned to face the pack. The rogues had retreated, they had all returned to their shadows, every attempt to destroy our peaceful moment in the pack thwarted. We might have won, we might have succeeded now, but there would be more reason to stay alert. Morgath won't rest until he achieves his aim.
I pulled Liora even closer to myself, my heart pounding at how we narrowly escaped the invasion. It was not just on any other days, it was on our great day, the sacred day of our union. I was glad that we were able to complete the ceremony before the attack.
"We have become one now," I whispered sweetly into her ears. "Nothing can tear us apart on this journey again."
She smiled and nodded her head. "We're ready to face anything, we will fight and protect this pack."
The rogues had gone quietly just as they came. The warrior did a great job, more than I was expecting from them. They proved to be great warriors who could protect the pack at all cost. Then, Elder was the first to speak after the rogues retreat.
"The bond between Alpha Jaxon and Liora has been sealed," he announced joyfully to the pack. "Alpha Jaxon and Luna Liora are now united under the witness of the entire pack and the full moon. Let their union blossom from power to power, a beacon of strength for all members of this great pack."
Howls of celebration echoed through the wedding hall, the joyful sound of celebration traveling through the night and beyond. We had conquered, we had emerged Victorious, our union would represent nothing but great strength. Our moment of breakthrough is finally here.
Liora stood by my side, wearing a beautiful smile. We did it together, we would continue to overcome together as one.
It was time to get back to our quarters. We walked hand in hand, with pack members trailing behind us. We would come back to address Morgath and his issues, but this is the time for us, our beautiful moment.
As we got close to my chambers, Liora by my side, there again was the mysterious warrior. He was there, just in the darkness waiting patiently for us. His eyes locked with mine, and he gave me the I told you look. I still didn't want to trust him entirely, but I would take it a step at a time.
"That was nothing compared to what he has in stock for this pack." He said with confidence. "Morgath has never stopped any fight halfway, he pushes on until he gets his desires. You need to be steps ahead of him, Alpha Jaxon. And Luna Liora would be of great help in doing that."
For the first time, I decided to agree to his advice without being pushed. "We will keep that in mind, he won't get us unprepared."
The warrior chuckled on seeing my hesitation, then his gaze landed on Liora, and I noticed it softened compared to when he was talking to me. Maybe because she's the new Luna, he was being respectful, or there may be more. "I can also be of help to you, Liora. There is more that you are yet to discover about your power. I know about your visit to the old man, you might not have told anyone, but I am aware of everything. Morgath fears you because of your power, and he would do everything to bring you down before you destroy him. I will help in retrieving the artifacts."
Her eyes flashed as curiosity took over her. "Who are you exactly? How did you get to know about the visit? We concealed it from every member of this pack, how come you are aware of everything?"
The warrior smirked mischievously. "Call me Caden for now. And to answer part of your question, I've been a close ally to Morgath, but as usual, he betrayed me, and right now, then I started trailing, and for a long time now. This pack wronged me, but I better support my pack than support Morgath. My aim is to ensure he doesn't emerge the winner in this fight. I will ensure that."
Liora and I exchanged a knowing glance. He screams of everything we need right now, an ally, but there's a big question. Can he be trustworthy or he's here to get us more?
