Chapter Twenty-Seven
It was soon the weekend, the time where Austin and I need to head over to this meet up. I was still rather confused on what this event was supposed to be and how I would be involved in this, but I knew better than to tell Markus no. I was just getting ready in my rather fancy clothes, Austin told me Markus pulled him aside and told him he and I need to wear some fancy type clothes. At first, I didn't know what he meant by fancy but I once I saw the outside of this meet up, it all became clear.
I wore a black dress that went just below my knees, the top half was a corset like dress which was sheer, while the skirt flared out a tiny bit. I wore black heels while curling my hair at the button.
I was trying to keep myself busy so I wouldn't overthink what's about to happen, it wasn't just down to Markus but also worrying if they'll find out I'm working with Jacob and what they'd do. I take one last look in the mirror at myself, I used as much makeup as I could to hide the cuts and bruises up my face and arms, I looked somewhat like myself I suppose. With a sigh I pick my purse up and walk towards my bedroom door, where I hear Austin fiddling around with things in the kitchen.
Once I open up the door, I see him looking through the kitchen draws for something. But once he felt my presence, he turns around to look at me where he stands there shocked. I just send him a smile whilst making my way into the kitchen area, maybe I could help him find whatever it was he's looking for.
'What are looking for?" I ask coming to a stop beside him, he had all the draws to the kitchen wide open with things just everywhere.
'Oh it doesn't matter" he tells me whilst trying to shut a draw but due to as I said the things being everywhere, it wouldn't budge. 'Since I've started working for Markus, I've wore this ring and the times I haven't worn it something bad has happened, now I'm worried if I don't wear it something will happen, especially when I'm with you" he tells me looking down at the floor a little embarrassed, but I just smile actually finding that rather sweet.
'We have time, I'll help you look" I smile placing my purse on the counter before kneeling down to look, he looks taken back but soon smiles and goes back to looking for this ring with me. 'Are you ready for this meet up?" I ask opening up a cupboard to see if it somehow fell in there, I think I knew what the ring looked like but I wasn't sure.
'When it comes to Markus, you're never fully ready. But because you're gonna be there, it'll be fine" he smiles while I turn to look at him, I didn't really want to be there but at least it was making Austin feel better about the situation. 'How are you feeling, I know you hate being around Markus?" He asks finally being able to close the draw he was fighting with, I wonder if we'll be able to open that next time.
'In some weird way, I've become numb to meeting Markus in situations like this. I know if I worry I'll just be a nervous wreck there, but I shouldn't be way too careless as we never know what will happen with Markus" I say having no luck finding the ring in the cupboard, I stand up straight looking over the counter just in case he missed it. 'But I know when I'm around you, you'll keep me safe" I smile looking down at him slightly where he looks up at me, he also stands up straight looking over at my face.
'You know I'll never let anything happen to you" he tells me taking another step closer to where I was standing, I smile as we were now inches from each other.
I look down at his hand and notice something, I take his hand holding it up with a smile. He looks over at his hand confused before realisation hits.
'I put it on the other hand, just before I started getting ready I wanted to see what it would look like on that hand and completely forgot" he says amazed whilst taking the ring off and placing it on the finger it's always on, I laugh walking past him to get my purse.
'Come on, we don't want to be late" I laugh whilst walking towards the door, where I hear him laugh along behind me.
We were soon pulling up at the rather fancy event, everyone being dressed to the nines. My eyes scan the crowd to see if I could somehow work out which ones were police, but they've done such a good job that I myself had no idea. Austin turns the car off just staring at me, I knew he wanted to apologise for bringing me into this again, but he knew what my response would be.
'Let's go and make you look good in front of you boss" I smile whilst reaching for the handle and climbing out of the car, where he soon does the same whilst I continue to look around.
I walk around the car meeting Austin at the side, he stands there with his arm out smiling. I walk over taking his arm as he begins to lead me into this place, neither of us quite sure where this night was going to take us. As we enter I discover, it's a full ballroom. Which again begs the question, how much money is Markus making to afford a place like this?! This place wasn't as packed as the other party, but that didn't mean that it wasn't still full to the brim of people. I keep my hand wrapped with Austin's, mostly worried I would get lost in this mass of people.
My eyes begin to wonder, mostly to check my surroundings but also seeing if I could catch sight of Jacob. My eyes soon land on an overhead balcony, where as like the last party stood a bunch of mean looking men watching over the party. I was soon snapped away from them as a waiter walks over, he smiles holding a tray of drinks up which Austin as I shake our heads too. I personally, don't drink and Austin was driving which meant he couldn't either. The man's smile beginning to walk past us, while I feel him taking my hand slightly whilst slipping something tiny into my palm.
At first, I was a confused but also a little alarmed at what just happened. But I soon remember the plan, which tells me the earpiece is now in my hand. This meant I now had to somehow get this device into my ear without anyone seeing, I soon remember that I'm wearing earrings and an idea pops into my mind. I let go of Austin's arm, while bringing both of my hands up to my ear and make it seem like I was fixing my earring. But in the middle of this, I slip the device into my ear causing it to be completely out of sight. I even shake my head a tiny bit so pieces of hair went over, just to be on the safe side.
'This is when the real fun will start" Austin smiles whilst pointing over at Markus who was talking to someone off to the side.
Oh it definitely will.
