Chapter Twenty-Nine
I stare up at the men for a few seconds before looking away, I didn't want them to see me looking at them, they might catch onto the fact that I knew what they were planning. I take a look to Austin once more, who was in deep conversation with Markus and that Mason man. I walk over to the side slightly where I pretend to cough.
'Jacob, do you see those guys on that balcony?" I ask really quickly, this being the first time I was directly talking to Jacob this whole time.
'Yeah I've got my eyes on them right now, why what's happening I've lost sight of you?" He asks worriedly while I take a look back out to the guys, who were still scanning the crowd while the huge guns in their hands scared me.
'Those look like the same guys that were at the party the night it got shot up, they're doing exactly what they were right before, I'm worried that's about to happen here" I whisper not wanting to draw any attention to myself, but I felt so trapped in this building with no way out.
'We can't let that happen again, I'll find a way to evacuate the building" he tells me before he goes quiet once again, I move forward just to check where the guys were and what they were doing.
Seconds later the whole place erupts with a huge fire alarm, which brings a smile on my face telling me Jacob had found his big way to evacuate the building.
'Good distraction" I say not really knowing if he'd be able to hear me over all this noise, it wasn't just the firing alarms but people running and screaming only added to the noise.
'I know, I pride myself on my ability to course any sort of distractions" he says which does let me know he did indeed hear me, how sensitive must this earpiece be? 'Now head outside, I'll meet you out there" he tells me while I look around to see if I could find Austin, but he was nowhere in sight.
I do as I'm told and begin to follow the crowd that were piling outside, whilst also hearing someone that sounded like Markus shouting at some people, but it was much too noisy for me to hear what was being said. I'm glad I'm not the one on the blunt end of that mouth, I hope he's not talking to Austin! After a few minutes of pushing and shoving, I finally arrive outside into the fresh night air. Everyone was huddled around discussing what they thought happened, while my eyes were scanning to see if I could find Jacob, or him in one of his many disguises.
A hand being placed on my shoulder makes me jump, as I turn to see who it was I calmed down dramatically, it was Jacob who looked as though he was wearing a bold cap.
'You have to tell me I look good, all the men in my family end up looking like this is, it's inevitable that I will too" he says whilst I reach into my ear and pull the earpiece out, I laugh handing him the earpiece which he takes with a smile.
'Zero earwax, that has to be a first" he says which does make me screw up my face in disgust, I didn't think the earpiece was in far enough to have earwax get stuck to it, how waxy are peoples ears?! 'You did manage to handle yourself good Payton, now we better split before people get suspicious, I'll call you in a few days" he says waving to me before turning and walking away, which left me fully alone for the first time tonight.
I realise I should probably try and find Austin, I mean I heard Markus shouting which would mean Austin wouldn't be far. I begin to walk around slowly skimming the crowd, people were not happy that the party ended like this. While men by the main entrance were shouting about the fire alarms, at least no one is suspecting me! After a minute of walking alone, I hear my name being called by someone in the crowd. I look around where I clock eyes with Austin, who's face holds relief before he runs at full speed over to me. I was soon wrapped in a super tight hug.
'As soon as I heard the fire alarms I went straight to where I left you, but you wasn't there and I couldn't find you anywhere" he tells me whilst still holding me so tightly, I hold him back too actually starting to feel bad.
'I was pushed away with this huge crowd that were fighting to get out, as soon as I got out I started looking for you" I tell him as he pulls away and begins to lead me to where his car was parked, but he stops outside looking around.
I turn to look where he was looking, that's when I spot Markus standing there looking over at us. He had his arms crossed where he raises an eyebrow to Austin, this does start to worry me as I wasn't there to see the last part of their conversation, which meant I have no idea what was said.
'Austin, what's going on?" I ask getting majorly worried at what the heck was about to happen, did Markus somehow find out about Jacob and has told Austin?!
This does cause him to turn and look back at me, his eyes just staring deep into mine. Before I could speak anymore, he begins to lean down closer to my face. I immediately, start leaning away from him not knowing what was going through this man's head. He moves his hand to hold the back of my head which prevents me from moving back anymore, before I could protest any further, Austin's lips were on mine. I immediately start to try and pull away but his hand on my head prevented me from doing that very thing, I then try to push at his chest with my arms but that wasn't working either! Before I could think any further, he pushes me backwards so I was now sitting on the hood of I'm guessing is Austin's car. What the heck does this man think he's doing?! He takes my hand and literally, pins them to the car while he lay on top of me so I couldn't move.
I begin to panic, not understanding what the heck was going around Austin's head at this moment. I try to move my arms for him to let go, but this man was miles too strong for me to do that. After what feels like a lifetime, he finally removes his lips from mine. I stare at his face so confused and upset, while in the background I hear clapping. I turn my head away from Austin to look where this clapping was coming from, to see Markus stood there clapping his hands and looking so happy with himself.
'Finally! Some PDA!" He cheers clapping once again, he must have told Austin to do all that, but why?!
'Get in the car" Austin says whilst fully pulling away from me so I could move, I can't even find the words to try and talk about what just happened, so I listen to him and walk to the car door climbing in.
Austin soon joins me where I don't even look at him, in no time we were driving home in silence.
