Chapter Fifty-Six

I look over at Jacob, he was just smiling at me very happy with himself. But his plan didn't sound that simple, I've been around Markus quite a few times so I know how a plan can sound so simple, but it becomes very difficult. 'How exactly are we going to ambush Markus?" I ask looking over at him, he looks like I was mad for not understanding his plan but does flip the page in his folder over. 'Let me start from the beginning so you'll understand, as you know my team and I have been fighting to catch Markus for years now. Years before you or even Austin came onto the scene. In that time, we have been able to sneak some of our men in as spies, through the years they have been able to build a sense of trust with Markus" he explains whilst looking at all of his notes, I guess making Markus trust anyone would take some time, but thinking about it, it actually didn't take that long for him to trust me. 'We have spies all over his businesses, who on my count will start to take Markus's businesses down from the inside out" he explains showing me all the different businesses, I knew he had a car business as that's what Austin does, I had no idea he had as many as he does! 'Each and every one of his businesses will start falling right before his eyes, he'll be left there trying to work out what's happening" Jacob smiles which I have to give him credit, this plan has taken some time and thought which I can see will finally pay off for him. 'Great sounding plan but I do have some questions, how on earth are you going to pull all of that off and where do Austin and I fit in with this?" I ask pointing at all the very detailed plans, but I didn't see the parts where me and Austin help, I mean we're not the spies. 'Well as you know, a few months ago Austin was promoted to run operations for the car side of Markus enterprise" Jacob begins to explain, i nod remembering that happened the night we all had to leave that party due to Jacob setting the fire alarms off. 'That will be the only part of Markus's business that won't go down" he says looking at me with a smile, Roman moves to stand beside me joining the conversation. 'So Markus will see that Austin has his back and put all his trust in him" he says finishes Jacobs story, which I have to say was very good. 'That's exactly right Mr inventor" Jacob says which I couldn't help but laugh at, he can be quick with his comebacks sometimes. 'What do you think Markus is going to do once he sees that everything he has worked so hard to build, crumbling right before his eyes?" I ask understanding how Markus can get when he's angry, but I had no idea what he would do when he was desperate. 'He'll go straight to you and Austin, as in his eyes you and him are the only people that he can truly trust. He has plans and accounts set up so if he needed to, he can flee and start a brand new life" he explains which was smart of Markus, I mean with the life that he lives it's smart he has a back up. 'He wouldn't want to leave his best worker and his favourite person, so he's going to try and take you two with him" Jacob says as though it was nothing, it made me feel very uncomfortable to hear that I was Markus's favourite person. Roman looks over at me on hearing Markus could take me with him, now he knew the information I've just told him, he isn't going to like that. 'You have to make sure that Payton and Austin stay safe, if they leave with Markus, who knows what could happen" Roman says joining the conversation again, I also didn't want to leave with Markus to some place on the run. 'Of course we're going to look after them, which is why Payton will need to carry this earring which is really a tracker on her at all times" Jacob says reaching into the folder and pulling a normal set of earrings out, I hold my hand out where there places right in the middle. 'So when is all this going to start?" I ask a little worried, I mean yes I knew that I would have to be involved when the time came to take Markus down, but I had no idea when that would be and now, there's so much more at stake! 'It already has, we've just arrested Jason Hawk" he smiles looking over at me, I was a little confused on who that was before my eyes go wide from shock. 'The dude from dinner?" I ask not understanding how big of a job that was, from all accounts Jason is this huge business man just like Markus! 'I had officers pick him up just before I came to get you" he smiles putting his hands in his pockets, I mean there's a lot for him to be proud of for getting that done. 'Markus is probably scared out of his mind right now" I say still pretty speechless that they had managed to get him, Markus and Jason seemed pretty close at dinner. 'That's exactly what we want him to feel like" Jason smiles before Roman moves forward, I knew this meant he'd be joining the conversation again. 'You said how when Markus feels like he needs to run, he's going to try and take Austin and Payton with him. How and when are you going to arrest him before he can?" Roman asks which was a good question, I needed to know how far this was going to go before he gets stopped. 'That is a other great question Mr inventor, we know where the car that Markus is going to take is parked where when the time comes, we'll have offices everywhere there" Jacob explains which I knew didn't really make Roman feel better, he would prefer if I wasn't involved at all but at this point, that wasn't an option. 'This is really risky" I say placing my hand on my mouth thinking, I want Markus to get arrested of course, but what will the cost be? 'You know by now Payton, anything that involves Markus is risky" he says before he takes a look down at his watch. 'We better set off to get you back home Payton, before anyone has time to get suspicious" he says picking all his papers up and putting them in the folder, while I take a look at Roman who was looking right back at me. 'I'll wait in the car, but hurry" Jacob says placing his hand on my arm before walking towards the front door, once he was gone I turn all my attention to Roman. 'You don't have to look that worried, you know I'm going to be fine and according to Jacob, this whole nightmare will be over soon" I smile walking close to him, but the look of worry still didn't leave his face. 'I know, but there is so much more at stake now" he sighs which was exactly what I thought, I smile wrapping my arms around his neck so I could look him in the eyes. 'Like I would let anything happen to our baby" I smile which was the first time I had really brought that part up, this does make him smile at that thought but does still look down at me. 'It's not just the baby I'm worried about, you need to make sure you're looking after yourself too" he says holding my waist looking at me in the eyes. 'You know I will" he smiles as he looks down at my belly, moving his hand down to place it on my stomach with a smile. 'I just can't wait" he smiles which was really sweet, but before I could reply the sound of a car horn coming from outside told me Jacob was getting impatient. 'It sounds like Jacob can't either" I smile looking over to the front door, I mean we have been ages while he's been sat in the car. He laughs placing a kiss on my lips before I pull away, I make it over to the door but before I fully leave, I turn to send him one last smile before closing the door behind me.
