Chapter Fifty-Five
In no time at all, we arrive at the house Jacob took me before. The one he says that no one knows about, I told him to call it his mini hide away last time I was here.
'Is it safe for Roman to stay here, you told me you use this house so when you're not at work, you can live a normal life where no one can follow you?" I ask looking over at him as we stop, I didn't mean because it might be unsafe for Roman to stay here but I don't want all of this to get in the way of Jacob being able to escape.
'I'm glad you remembered what I told you, but no I don't have to worry about that as Roman actually isn't staying here long term, I've just brought him here so you can see him" he smiles which was really nice, but also proving what a great person Jacob actually is.
'You know I'm going to thank you again don't you?" I ask looking over at him, but he shakes his head opening up his car door.
'And I'm going to tell you that you don't have to" he smiles before he climbs out of the car, I follow his lead and also open up the door climbing out.
'I'll wait out here by the door so you and Roman can have some privacy, but I do need to have a conversation with you in a few minutes" he tells me as we both come to a stop outside the door, I nod my head liking that he was going to give us some time to talk.
I send him a smile and a nod before stepping forward, as I reach for the door handle I had to stop and take a deep breath in to prepare myself. It's just Roman, it's not like he's some complete stranger. With that thought, I open up the front door and soon make my way into the house.
As I walk in, I hear movement in the kitchen and out walks Roman. His face holds pure relief as he looks over at me, before I knew what was happening he runs over and wraps me in the tightest hug. I hold him back tightly too, hoping my thoughts would tell me this felt right.
'I've never been so worried" he tells me still holding me so tightly, I smile holding him back too taking in even what he smelt like.
We soon pull away where he holds my face in his hands, while I just study his face as he looks down at me.
'You won't believe the fear and confusion I was feeling when those police dragged you away, I was terrified trying to go over what you could have done" I say confessing everything to him, but still now I don't have a clue if Roman would do anything bad to get arrested.
'I know, I wish I could have told you so you wouldn't have had to feel those emotions but Jacob told me I couldn't" he says but it sounded to me like he was holding something back, I hadn't been with Roman for years not to know when he was hiding something.
'Well all that matters now is you're safe and not in any sort of prison" I smile deciding to hold back on questioning him, we don't know how long we have until he has to go back to the safe house. 'It's just like I told you when you found out I was helping Jacob, I need you to stay normal and in one piece for the exciting things that are going to happen" I smile hinting at the news I needed to tell him, but he raises his eyebrow at me not understanding what I was getting at.
I smile looking him in the eyes, before moving my head to look down at my stomach then moving my eyes to look in his. His face still held confusion as he tries to piece together what I was trying to tell him, but within a few minutes his eyes go wide looking at me.
'Payton, are you pregnant?" He asks having to confirm what he was thinking, tears prick my eyes as I nod my head confirming that I was.
His eyes immediately, start to well up with tears as he pulls me into another hug holding me so tightly. I felt such relief that I had finally been able to tell him, it might all start to feel real now.
'This is all I've ever wanted in life" he cries still holding me so tightly, I knew this to be true because it's all he ever talks about when we discus the future.
'I know, I would have told you sooner but the little fact of you being dragged away kind of stopped me from doing that" I say with a little laugh as we pull away, he just stares at my face as I reach up and wipe his tears away.
'You need to be careful Payton, just not for the baby but also yourself" he tells me looking with a serious look, I nod my head with a little laugh knowing that was something he would say.
'Yes I know, when you're able to leave this place it will make that easier" I say talking about him being in the safe house, wherever that place actually is.
'Screw all this, now I know I'll leave this place now" he says but I shake my head, Markus would love if Roman just sprung up as a target again.
'You can't, Markus will find and kill you as soon as you did that. We just need to wait it out until they're able to catch Markus and things can start getting back to normal" I say having to pull him back, we'll get back to our new normal.
Before we could talk anymore, the front door knocks which makes me pull away slightly from Roman. Jacob slowly walks in putting his head through slowly, he opens his eyes where his face holds relief as he walks through and closes the door.
'Great, I didn't want to walk in to see you two doing the deed on the floor, I don't need carpet cleaners added onto the list" he says which makes me laugh and shake my head, why didn't I see that comment coming from him? 'You and I Miss Payton, need to talk" he says walking over to the table, I send a smile to Roman before making my way over to the table to join Jacob.
'I have come up with a way to catch Markus, but my plan needs the help of you and Austin" he says which was when the first problem came up, how do I get Austin to help? 'I need you to persuade Austin to come and talk to me" he says as though it was nothing, but that fact will be hard.
'Austin would never agree to do that" I say telling him the first flaw in the plan, whenever you mention police to Austin his says we can't let them find out. 'Austin has told me from the start that we can never go against Markus, whoever does ends up six feet under" I say quoting what Austin has told me many times, even when I haven't asked him to talk about Markus.
'I know it's going to be hard, but the only way for my plan to work is to have Austin helping you" he sighs looking down at the paper in his hands, but I was hoping there could be another way around our problem.
'Is there a way I could get Austin to help, without him knowing he was helping?" I ask hoping that sentence made sense and was actually possible, I didn't like lying to Austin but I knew he wouldn't mind when Markus was locked up.
'I've never thought it like that" Jacob says which does make me laugh, he thought of the hardest way to do it!
'So are you going to explain to me what this plan of yours is?" I ask laughing that he hasn't told me what he's doing but wants me to help, I have no idea how that would work.
'Oh yeah, okay it's taken me weeks to come up with this plan and how it all will work but to cut a very long story short" he says opening up a file that was sat on the table. 'We're going to ambush Markus"
