Chapter Sixty-Four
I continue to lay in Austin's arms pretending to be passed out, the only flaw to my plan is I couldn't see what was happening because of my eyes being closed. I trust Austin won't let anything happen, but let's all remember that Markus is about and when he's involved, there's no telling what could happen.
'We don't have time for this, come on" I hear Markus's panicked voice says from somewhere, I didn't know how long this was going to stale him but anytime, is better than us running with him.
'Can't you see that my pregnant girlfriend has passed out?!" Austin voice shouts which did nearly make me jump, thank the lord that I managed to not flinch.
'Payton is going to be fine, but we really need to leave!" Markus says sounding like he was really losing his temper, but at this moment I didn't care that much. 'I know something that will wake her up" he says and before I know it, my eyes shoot open as he had just thrown cold water on my face.
'What the fuck?" I ask looking down at myself, the water was dripping down my face and hitting my chest which was freezing! Can we all remember it's winter!
'That was the only way that I could wake you up, we don't have time to stand around while you tell me how angry you are, that can wait until later, now get in the car" Markus says like what he just did was nothing, if we weren't sticking to a strict plan, I would probably punch him!
Austin looks down at me before helping to stand on my feet, he looks at me slightly before moving me so I was stood behind him. This does confuse but worry me, what the heck is he planning?
'This isn't about us being late or getting arrested, why did you throw freezing cold water over her?" He asks trying to contain his anger, but I could see that was getting challenging for him.
'We don't have time for you to stand there and start acting the hard man, get in the fucking car!" Markus shouts which definitely, made me jump.
'Fuck you" was all Austin says before he swings a punch, said punch smacks Markus around the face who falls to the floor in a heap.
My eyes go wide as I walk over and take Austin by the arm, that was definitely not apart of Jacob's plan that we went over. I pull Austin away as Markus remained on the floor, holding onto his jaw.
'Now that is something I have wanted to do for a very long time" Austin says in a cheering sort of way, but I didn't want to see what would happen when Markus got up.
But to my joy, before any of us could move a single muscle, Jacob and a heap of other officers run over and jump on Markus. I was pretty surprised at first, has this really just happened? Before Markus could fight, they had already put cuffs on him this sending him into a frenzy! In his mid fight, he looks up at me and Austin who were just stood staring right back at him.
'Look! We could have been long gone by now, but because you two fucked about they caught us!"he shouts fully losing his rag, but a smile just forms on my lips as I look down at him. 'Why are you smiling?" Markus asks once I move passed Austin, this only makes me smile even more now he's really done for it.
'Do you remember telling us that someone close to you has been helping police, I regret to inform you, but you're looking right at her" I say the smirk only getting bigger, this is a moment I have been waiting for so long.
'Nah that can't be you, come on Payton, do you really believe that I think you have it in you to do that?" He asks laughing slightly, but when the smile did leave my lips I could see he was getting worried.
'Do you remember the day you went around my friend Brooke's house, who by the way was found and is doing great. Do you remember saying this town isn't going to know what hit it? My police friend and I were listening from out of the window" I smile pointing over to Jacob, who sends him a little wave from the side.
This is what sends Markus off, he tries to fight to get out of the officers grip, but now they had him, they weren't letting go.
'It was you all along!" He shouts whilst still trying to get away, this only makes me laugh as I watch him struggle to gain control, which he wasn't gaining at all.
'I'm just so happy you're finally getting what you deserve" I smile whilst he stops resisting for a few seconds, where a smile soon fills his own lips as he looks at me.
'There's one part of your plan that you didn't think of, that darling boyfriend of yours will also be going down with me" he smiles thinking that he somehow won, but I shake my head where Jacob walks closer joining the conversation once more.
'No that's where you're wrong Markus, Payton agreed to help us under the terms that Austin would be given full immunity from any charges" Jacob informs him which took the smile right off his face, which only made the smile on my own face get bigger.
'You all think you have won, but mark my words you're all gonna pay!" Markus screams as he's stood up and taken away, but Austin just sends him a smirk as he went by.
'No Markus, this is where we get the last laugh" Austin smiles wrapping his arm around my shoulders, Markus begins to fight all over again and was soon taken away kicking and screaming.
'Oh yeah Jake, you're gonna get it too!" We heard him shout from somewhere in the crowd, not that we could see him though.
'Jake, who's Jake?" I ask looking around at everyone, no one standing here was looking like a Jake to me, had Markus fully lost his mind?
'Oh yeah, to make sure that Markus or anyone working with him, couldn't even get a sense that you were working with us. I had to act like my name was Jacob, when really it's Jake" Jacob says which makes my eyes go wide, I've been calling him by the wrong name this whole time! 'But you've helped us and Markus, is finally where he needs to be. You can call me Jake" he smiles but I shake my head, that will never sound right to me when I look at him.
'I'm sorry, that name will never sound right on you anymore, you're just going to have to deal with me calling you Jacob" I say with a little laugh but I wasn't joking, Jake will never sound right on that man even though I know it's his real name.
'You can call me anything that you want, you've just helped me catch the man that I've been after for too many years to count" he says which I smile at looking over at Austin, who was smiling right back down at me.
'I only started because I wanted to keep the ones I cared about safe" I smile knowing how many times that sentence has left my lips, but it still rains true even now.
'You've done a heck of a lot more than keeping the ones you care for safe, because of your help you've kept the town and a whole lot of other people safe" he says which did make me smile, I was only intending to help the guys but it seems like I he helped others too. 'I wish there was something I could do to show you how grateful I really am" he says looking down, I send a smile to Austin before pulling away from him and walking towards Jacob.
'I think a hug would suffice" I smile opening up my arms, Jacob looks up smiling walking over to accept my hug offer. This was the first time we had ever hugged, but it was nice after everything.
'After your baby is born, I think you should come and join me so I don't lose my secret agent partner" he whispers in my ear, this does make me laugh thinking about us being secret agents.
'Just hit me up" I whisper back with a laugh, I don't know how busy I'm going to be once this baby is born, hopefully they sleep!
We soon pull away where we just smile at each other, when this all started I never thought that I would find a friend in this guy. But now I can't picture life without him being a close friend, meeting him was one of the few good things that came out of this situation.
Jacob was called away for a second, he says he'll be back in a second before turning and running into the crowd. I smile turning back around to see where Austin was, he was stood in the same place just smiling as he looked at me.
'When I first told you about Markus that day and you told me somehow, you were going to get me out of this mess. I will be honest, I didn't believe a single word that you said but look, you've done it" he smiles as I make my way closer to him, I told him that he just needed to listen to me and I'd fix it.
'I don't lie and if I'm being honest, I wasn't going to stop until Markus was where he needed to be. But during this whole experience, I found out there where I thought I was supposed to be was wrong, I was actually meant to be right here with you" I smile wrapping my arms around his neck as he pulled me closer to him, smashing his lips onto mine.
