Final Chapter

*Ten Months Later* I was peacefully walking up and down the market, as it was getting darker earlier once again, the pretty market was just full of fairy lights. This place always reminds me of a fairytale, the people are always so nice when you talk to them. We haven't been able to come back here in way over a year, with all the chaos we had to stay clear of this place which was sad. But now I was back, the peaceful moment is what I really needed. But due to the peaceful moment, my mind was having its opportunity to start thinking about all the chaos that had filled my life for those months. Of course, my mind drifted to the one and only Roman first and what he was up to now. I know that might be very confusing but also, rather alarming to hear me speak about him that way. But I'm here to tell you, Roman never died that day, even though that's what Jacob said. When the police looked more into what Markus did to the city, it was found that the device that Markus used to blow up all those houses, was the same device that Roman made and was trying to sell. Those packages that Austin and I had to deliver, held the very thing that Roman had been spending years creating. That was what Jacob whispered in my ear before Austin walked in, the only reason he didn't say anything at the time was because he didn't know Austin would find out when he did. It wouldn't have taken him long to work out that Jacob knew about the packages. The reason I broke down like he did die was for the simple fact, I felt so betrayed by him. When he came back from being away, I cried to him telling him what Markus was doing and how I was going through the mental stress of helping the police to stop him. When in reality, he was giving that man the tools to hurt people! I went to see him in prison a few months later, the bump also made an appearance. He begged for me to forgive him and asked if I would wait for him, for starters I'd be waiting a heck of a long time! But I shook my head at him, I said that was why he was so scared that Austin would take me away from him. Because he knew Austin was really the guy I thought Roman was, but who he actually was is someone I want nothing to do with. Talking of Austin, the day Markus got arrested was also the day we went into witness protection. Jacob is still a very frequent visitor, I knew we would be able to stay close friends. Nothing really changed after we went into protection, only our last names and where we live. I was broken from my thoughts by Austin, I turn around to see him and Peter walking over to me smiling. 'I'm more than sure Peter has just told me he loves me" he says looking down at Peter who was wide awake, he's so cute when he starts to look around at everyone. 'Well he's only two months old, so I highly doubt that he said anything" I say with a laugh looking at him, he just shakes his head looking down at Peter. 'Trust me, he's very advanced" he says while I just roll my eyes, at least through this whole experience, Austin hasn't changed much! 'So, what were you thinking about?" Austin asks as I take Peters hand and smile, I look up at Austin who I know could tell I was really lost in my thoughts back there. 'Just about all the many things that has happened over the past year" I say still looking down at Peter, staring at his face will never get old. 'I don't regret anything that has happened over this year, because everything that happened I now have everything that I have ever wanted. The most drop dead gorgeous wife and the most beautiful son that I could ever ask for" Austin says which does make me look up at him and smile, oh did I forget to mention that we actually got married? 'I've got my boys, that's all I need" I smile which was all I could ever ask for, our little family is just so perfect. Austin smiles leaning down and placing a kiss on my lips, but before we could talk anymore. The woman from the stall before starts to speak. 'The last time I see you two here, I could just see what an amazing couple you were but now, it's so great to see you as a beautiful family" she smiles looking over at the three of us, I smile thanking her as my phone begins to ring in my pocket. I pull it out to see Jacob, Austin smiles walking over to talk to the woman while I answer the phone. 'Remember when I said after you have your baby and were ready, I wanted you to become a secret agent with me?" He asks before I had time to say hello, I laugh a little remembering how that conversation went. 'Yes, why?" I ask a little worried on what he was about to say, Peter is only two months old! 'The time has come and I could really use your help on a case" he says which did make my jaw drop, this man isn't actually being serious is he? 'You do know that I don't really have any experience in that field right?" I ask not knowing if he has somehow forgot how and why I became like an agent in the first place, I'll have no idea what to do! 'Come on Payton, you gained all that experience when you helped me deal with Markus" he says which does make me laugh, it did feel like that was a lesion teaching moment. 'So, what do you say?" He asks which was a loaded question, what could I say? I go silent for a second looking up at Austin, he turns around looking me in the eyes for a second. It's like he knew what was happening, he walks over handing me Peter before taking the phone. 'She's in, meet us at our house in 2 hours" he said down the phone answering for me, so I'm actually going to do this?! Before long, he had hung up the phone smiling down at me. 'That's something I know you were born to do" he smiles which only makes me smile, I did have a great time when I wasn't terrified. 'As long as I can take my boys with me" I smile looking down at Peter than at Austin again, he pulls me closer smiling down at me. 'We're not going anywhere" he smiles looking down at me, I smile back before taking a look around us. 'I can't believe all this has happened because I agreed to play The Step In Girlfriend, but I wouldn't change it for the world" I smile looking up at him again, he winks leaning down and placing a king kiss on my lips.
