Chapter13
Leo
I was shocked when Alfred told me this. King Scott killed his wife? but why would he do such a thing?
"King Scott killed Queen Karen? no! you're lying!"
"I'm not lying, it's the truth. I was there that day when it happened."
"But why would he kill his own wife and Kassandra's mother? it doesn't make any sense! When I was still training to become the Princess' bodyguard, they loved each other, what changed?"
Alfred sighed and then he walked towards the cabin.
"Leo, wasn't it?"
"Yes."
"Come inside and I will tell you what really happened. You need to know why Kassandra was taken and the truth about that fateful day."
I wanted to tell him that I didn't want to hear it but, I remembered the dragon priests words to the King and how he reacted to it. I didn't think about it that much since Kassandra was taken but, a part of me wondered what the King was hiding.
"All right, tell me everything you know so I can find Kassandra."
Alfred nodded his head before headed back into the cabin with the firewood. Before I followed after him Crystal spoke up.
"You like her don't you?"
I stopped in my tracks and I looked at her.
"You like Princess Kassandra don't you? you have feelings for her."
I blushed bright red when she said this.
"What?! no! no! no! no! you got it all wrong! Kassandra and I are nothing like that! I'm just her bodyguard and friend and she's a Princess!"
Crystal started giggling and I stopped panicking when heard that laugh. It sounded adorable.
"I'm only teasing, you've got no feelings for her whatsoever, do you?"
"No...I only see her as a sister, nothing more."
"I see, I didn't get your name before."
"My name is Leon but, my friends call me Leo."
"You already know my name, it's Crystal."
I smiled at her and then we stared at each other a moment before she snapped out of it.
"Anyway, shall we head inside, Alfred is waiting for us."
"Oh right! of course, shall we?" I asked as I offered my arm to her.
Crystal looked a little confused for a moment and I told her.
"Oh that's right, you don't know our human customs do you? I'm just trying to be a gentleman and when a gentleman escorts a lady, she wraps her arm around his arm."
"Oh, like this?" Crystal asked as she wrapped her arm around mine.
"Perfect," I spoke with a smile before we headed into the cabin.
Kassandra
After our little 'moment' in the baths, Drago and I dried off and then I got changed into some new clothes. I am now wearing a black dress that reached knee-length and it has gold trimmings on the edges, black leggings and calf boots. I was actually surprised that they fit me and I wondered how these guys knew their mates' sizes but, I decided not to ask them that. I tied my hair into a plait and then Drago said to me.
"Those clothes suit you, Kassandra."
"Thanks, although, it feels like I'm missing something."
Drago looked at me confused before glancing at my neck.
"I see, you've gotten used to having that awful necklace around your neck and now it feels weird doesn't it?"
"Yes," I told him.
"I've got just the thing."
Drago led me back to the treasure room and he mumbled.
"Now where did I last see it? it's got to be here somewhere."
I watched Drago walk over to the pile of treasure and he started to rummage through it. I was confused about this and I asked him.
"Drago, what are you looking for?"
"Ah-ha!! found it!"
"Found what?" I asked him as he climbed down from the pile of gold and walking back to me.
"Turn around and close your eyes."
I did as I was told and then I felt something being placed around my neck and then Drago said to me.
"Open your eyes."
I opened my eyes and then I looked down and there is a yellow-gold gem in the shape of a heart.
"Drago, it's beautiful."
"It's called a Dragonstone. The stone comes from the mountains and only we fated Dragons can mine it."
"Fated Dragons?"
"Well, before we find our mates, a dragon stone ore is produced and only those who are mated can get the stone and give it to their mates."
Drago held the stone in his hand and it glowed brightly as he continued.
"As long as you wear this, you will be able to tell when your mate is near or far away."
"In a way, it's like a tracking charm, right?"
"Exactly," Drago spoke with a smile on his face.
"Come on, let's head outside. I'll bet the others are wondering how you're doing."
"All right."
I took his hand but, Drago smirked and then he picks me up like a bride.
"Hey! put me down!"
"No way, I like carrying you like this."
I rolled my eyes at him and then I wrapped my arms around his neck as he carried me out of the cave. We got outside and then he carried me to the lake where the other dragons and where their mates are.
"Princess Kassandra!" Liz called out to me.
"Thank goodness you're all right, you had has all worried sick when you ran away."
"I know I'm so sorry. I should have listened to you."
Liz smiled at me and then Drago told her.
"Well, she promises not to run away this time. Will you?"
"I promise."
Drago smiled at me and then he sat down on a rock with me sitting on his lap.
"I suppose you'll be hungry after running through the woods."
"I am but please don't give me cooked fish," I told while feeling my stomach turn.
"Don't worry, Liz has already made you something."
Elizabeth came over to me and she gave me a bowl of fruit and cooked meat and thankfully, it's not fish. Drago decided to hand feed me and I let him. After eating, Drago and I watched the other dragons and their mates relax near the lake or they were swimming in the lake.
I rested my head on Drago's shoulder and I heard him growl in satisfaction. Drago kissed the top of my head and then Midnight came over to me.
"It's good to see you're doing well, Princess. Were you hurt from those werewolves?"
"Nope, I'm fine thanks."
I spoke with a smile and then Midnight told Drago.
"Lord Drago, when the earth dragons came back shortly after you told us you found Princess Kassandra, they told me they found traces of magic when she was being chased by the werewolves."
Drago looked surprised and then he turned to look at me.
"Kassandra, did you come across a coven who may or may not have helped you escape?"
I knew that they were going to find out sooner or later so I got off of Drago's lap and I told him.
"I...think it's best if I showed you."
Midnight and Drago looked at me confused before I concentrated my magic into the water before I created a water serpent. Drago and Midnight looked shocked when they saw this.
"No way! since when can you use magic?!" Midnight asked me before I cancelled my spell.
I panted in exhaustion and I told them.
"Did you seriously forget who I'm related to? my mother was once a sorceress and she taught me everything there was to know about magic spells and potions."
"Oh that's right," Midnight mumbled before Drago came over to me.
"Kassandra, why didn't you tell me that you can use magic?"
"I was afraid of how you'd react and my father has always told me to never reveal my powers to anyone so..."
I trailed off as I looked to the side. Drago held my chin and he said to me.
"You don't have to worry about hiding your power from us. You're far away from your crazy old man and when you're out here, you can do whatever you want."
I smiled at Drago when he said this and then he leaned closer to kiss my lips. But, before he could touch my lips, a purple light appeared behind us and then Drago pulled me behind him protectively.
"Who goes there?!!"
I looked over his shoulder and there was a purple arrow with a note attached to it. Liz walked over to it and she picks up the arrow and then it disappeared and only the note remained.
"Looks like we've got a message, here."
Liz gave the note to Drago and then he read it. His eyes widen in surprise and I asked him.
"Is something wrong?"
"It's from the sorceress Serana. She's heard about you and she wants to meet you."
"She does? why?"
"It doesn't say but, she said she wants to see you."
I was surprised by this but then again, after what I saw in my dream or rather my vision, it has to mean something.
"All right, when do we meet her?"
"We can meet her tomorrow if you'd like. After all, I did say I wanted to spend time with you for today and then I can provide you with the answers that you asked for."
I pressed my forehead against his shoulder and I mumbled.
"Thank you."
Drago wrapped his arms around me and stroked my hair.
